  • Amazing car, got it today in 1/24 scale (model by bburago)

  • lol "same color as vomit"

  • Ah the 550 Maranello, still my all time fav Ferrari. I remeber when I was younger this was always the car I drove on Need For Speed Hot Pursuit for playstation in the late 90's. I want a Grigio Titanium one with an all black interior. But the only downside to having one is having money for gas, insurance, and of course...matinence-YIKES! So all I can do is dream. An unlike Jeremy (who actually had a Ferrari 355), I actually CAN say "I'm never ever gonna have one of these cars"!

  • @Need4speedZR1 i agree with that, and you know why? because i think it is more modest than a ferrari testarossa or a ferrari f430, 458, 355 etc etc etc.

  • i am sure that i am gonna get grief for this, but i would have one of these over a diablo. its beautiful. The subtle agression. its like a body builder in an armani suit.

  • He says it looks like a Supra like it's a bad thing.

    Both are fucking sexy.

  • @fairman308 hahaha, idiot, ferraris are god, supra are the worst most idiotic car ever made.. I would feel emberassed driving that...i am serious i would not want to be seen in a supra.

  • @niels5087 To cast an automobile in such reverence is foretelling of an imbecile.

A true automotive enthusiast can respect the engineering of any automobile where warranted, you are just a scum fanboy. You will never own such an automobile regardless if your success and intellect is indicative of your comment. The most idiotic car ever made is the prius. Castrate yourself so you do not pollute the earth with your rotten offspring.

    Good day

  • @niels5087 I had a Supra twin Turbo and it was a fantastic car. You're just an ignorant kid...perhaps when you grow up a little you will realise what you missed.

  • A Ferrari with a proper manual gearbox <3

  • wait... they have 4 year olds that can weld?

  • i thought this car looked pretty good actually.

i'd prefer it over the 430 and 360 to be honest.

  • "ferraris should be drop-dead gorgeous", what the hell is this then, jeremy? That's why I watch Fifth Gear instead, 'cause Clarkson very often bitches about when reviewing

  • the car sounds like mute porn

  • Oh to be able to get a 250GTO for £3m today!

  • jeremy man, wtf...this car is beautiful in every way

  • he's got hair!!!!!!!!!!!

  • he is a wanker and a litle bit of a legend

  • jeremy clarkson, a legend, but abit of a wanker

  • uhoh. Right when he showed the Daytona, I made a mess of my shorts. damnit.

  • jeremy-lol!

  • F550 is the best car ferrari ever made before 458

  • the best car ferrari ever made before 458

  • lol 3 million, they sell for 12 million + like its nothing nowadays

  • HAHAHAHA!!! look at Jeremy' hair!!

  • @sonic911 You're absolutely right. They're were always the most desirable Ferrari model. The last 250 GTO to be for sale (a rare Series 2) was sold last year for 12 million pounds to a British radio Dj.

I absolutely love it, but I think no car is worth that money...

  • This is my all-time favourite Ferrari. One day I shall have one.

  • the 250 GTO is worth WWWWAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY more than 3,000,000 pounds

  • @sonic911 Yeah, because they definitely cost $16,000,000 even in the 90's

  • Clarkson's endless hyberbole is worthless in this case. Not a single real observation about the car that isn't purely subjective. This is one of the best F-cars ever made, and they are very reliable, very smooth, very torquey front engine V12 from the best design house in the world. It cannot lose, and Clarkson cannot make it lose. It's reviews like this that reassure that I will never take Clarkson seriously, even when he likes a Ferrari, as he usually does.

  • Yes, unbelieveable! And I miss mine sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much...

  • ferrari is overpriced.......

  • funny how he cryes about not being able to buy one... :D now he can get one for sure got for u jeremy

  • I think it was my Big Boss who bought that 250 GTO, years ago. He had in his collection a 512 (Which came to our Bodyshop when he didn't make the turn going to the airport), Testerossa, 328 (I drove it some 300ft), and a 'Vector'. He was the President of the New Car Dealership Association....so the time is about right....Ron Tonkin.

  • I dont mind the look of the front

  • Ahhh.... back before the pussies got a hold of the company and put automatics in every single one of their cars!

A proper 6 speed WITH a clutch pedal! Remember the days when it took skill to drive a car?

  • a amazing and cheap supra modified kill easier a beautifull maranello!

  • @fedrozx who cares even with your 1000hp supra you will never beat the pasion that this car generates, one of the greatest cars made by human.

  • First of all this car is the most beautiful car ever. Second, I think Clarkson is misunderstanding the point of the 550. It's a GT car, not a supercar. It's meant to be a comfortable car for long distances, something which you can just lean back and drive.

  • God I want one.

  • @JDMAero me too

  • Awesome!

  • It looks good from the rear, but the front...

Hmmm, I must say I always liked the 456 more because it combined the classic Daytona shape with a nice looking 80s styled pop-up headlight front. ;)

  • have TG ever tested the 456?

  • JC is a great reviewer-entertainer, but completely wrong about the aesthetics of this wonderful machine. It is stunning!

  • If I had to choose this or the 355 I would take a this 550 every time

  • Comment removed

  • looks like Eric Clapton is a big fan of Ferrari.... he's ordering a 458 but with a V12 engine....

  • My favourite Ferrari, oh yes!!Also, I don't mind about the sound but I think, the look is just brilliant.

  • Come one man, the 550 is beautiful all around, why are you bashing it?

  • love this car rather have it over a 355

  • I wonder how much would cost Clapton's Ferrari now... and i want one ;)

  • i love lamborghinis but after the f50 this is my favourite ferrari...EVER!

  • The 550 is acutally my childhood impression of Ferrari....first saw it in need for speed 3

  • I'm only half-way through this video and if Jeremy Clarkson was to appear in front of me I would instantly smack him in the mouth. He has no idea what he is saying and is talking total bollocks!!! And he has the cheek to say all that then make it the best car in the world in the second VHS video he produced. He's the real fecking village idiot!!!

  • I never noticed its similarity in appearance to the Toyota Supra, but now he has mentioned it, I can't stop thinking that it looks like it now.

  • LOL! He got left with a Supra.

  • Id still buy a 355 over this

  • @MrThestig8 agreed soo much nicer

  • i love the 550 from the beginning

  • most beautiful car ever made. Granted, if I could have any car in the world it would be the F40. but this is the best looker. and it looks nothing like a supra. it nothing but european elegance, understaded, but as it should be for something that harkens back to the good ole days of Ferrari's original FR coupes

  • 3m,for the GTO,

Few months ago Chis Evans paid 12m.

Looking back in time its weird ,

I was thinking Supra to ,hehe.

Anyway ,599 GTO i think is todays version & amazing at that.

  • It's funny how they'd sell a car to Eric Clapton who has never had a licence and has a terrible track record for smashing up Ferraris according to his autobiography. Wonderful car nontheless.

  • Personally, I'd rather purchase a 512TR, or F355 GTS. But that's just me.

  • Its amazing how old this footage looks and sounds. It feels positively antique, yet was broadcast during the 3rd or 4th season of "Friends"

  • he should tuned that supra to have 600- 700 horse power and he wouldn't miss the ferrari anymore.

  • the 550 is one of the favorite Ferrari's ever

  • I wonder how he would feel driving the 575 Maranello. I bet he would lose it.

  • My father had a 550 Maranello until about 2001~. We really liked it and I miss it still.

  • I agree about the sound. Really disappointing for a Ferrari..

  • Loving these old top gears, good job.

  • what is the last song being played and who is singing it?

  • @dusenberg "Missing You" by John Waite

  • supra? really? what kind of comparison is that?!

  • Now that I think about it... the C6 CORVETTE looks like a somewhat blockier 550.

  • Ferraris are the best.

  • Gustav Holst - Mars ftmfw

  • I kind of understand why an 8 year old would choose the Ferrari Daytona over Brigitte Bardot but I'd personally prefer Brigitte.

(I actually would have preferred Claudia Cardinale back then but that's another story)

Though the car has aged much better than the silver screen goddesses. Sorry girls :)

  • Such a nice car, I think it's one of the best looking cars of all time, and offcourse handles beautifully. More beefy noise though :D

  • The 456 is a truly brilliant car, although Ferrari always add a GT side to their flagship cars - the 599, 550, 575M and the F512M, having four seats means being able to share the joy with everyone, I must buy one one day, and I will they're getting as little as 30,000. You should too, they're fantastic

  • ya there 30000 because nobody wants them cause theyre a piece of shit save your money for a 328gts wayyy nicer and for another 10 to 15 thousand and i know ur going to say well thats a lot of extra money but theyre worth it. Its like the 612 scagletti its a heavy boat piece of shit and it got replaced just like that

  • @ysivyboi1 599 has 4 seats?

  • @hks071 it oly has 2... evethough its a GT car....

  • @ysivyboi1 Outside of the 456, none of those cars you mentioned had 4 seats.

  • I would love to own one of these but no way am I selling my M3 for it.

  • don t shit yeremy the 550 is very nice and the supra is a total difrend car

  • @KLEMZALOL don't under estimate the supra. If you spend enough money on it, give it 600- 1000 hp it can smoke a ferrari.

  • Who cares if it can smoke one, it will never BE a ferrari, spend enuf u can make a hyundi go faster

  • not exactly, you would have to spend a lot MORE on a hyundi than you would on a supra and it's not gaurenteed to beat a ferrari lol. I'm saying a supra can beat a ferrari with not even spending close to what a ferrari would cost stock. He likes ferrari but he also did a clip with a supra. I can't paste link on here but if you type top gear supra, you can see he loved it and put more expensive cars to shame.

  • That was Tiff nidle not Jeremy clarkson who did that review, dont get me wrong i fuckin love supras, but comparing them is like comparing an apple and an bannana, both tasty :D

  • Oh yeah I did see the Tiff one with that white supra that was an automatic but no that's not the one i meant. I tried to paste the link but i see it didn't work. Here type this in the search exactly the same even with the dash "Old Top Gear - Toyota Supra" they did a real review with a stock supra. He said it put a lot of super cars to shame lol. You are right, can't go wrong either way but if i had the money for a ferrari, i would have picked it lol.

  • It was tiff, and it was manual, coz he says the exact line u said :P "put more expensive cars to shame. "

  • I just gave you the tittle to the exact video to the supra "Old Top Gear-Toyota Supra" that is what it's called. I can even see it on related menu list next to this video as it plays. Yes there is one with tiff but one you also haven't seen.

  • ya its the exact same title, i know which one it is, but its still tiff, it says old top gear coz he used to be on top gear lol /watch?v=NnfxRL8j9s8

add that to the url and that is the vid lol

  • The 456 is all things to all men...almost. You get a glorious V12 that doesn't draw 2 much (bad) attention. Its discreet but goes like hell. It hasn't had the rawness taken out by driver aids. The boot is good, small women/kids in the back & extra luggage if needed. She'll cruise nicely across a continent and with the flick of a switch stiffen the suspension and behave like a go-kart. They are cheap to buy 2nd hand. Only thing is the running costs...but thats the pay-off for having so much fun!

  • Have you driven one? Somehow I doubt that you have, 0-60mph in 5 seconds and 199mph is not slow in any book and only a handful of mega fast cars go quicker, and so what if they do, its fast enough, period. If your only satisfied with a Veyrons power and speed, good luck to you with your saving up.

  • woops ignor that, no was thinking of a different ferrari for some reason lol. which does it in 7, which i would have considered slow as for a v12 ferrari :P

  • I always liked the 456GT more. It reminded me about the legendary Daytona.

    This one?

    Never will be my favourit.

Like it more then the 512M 'Wideboy Testarossa' thoug. The 512M was nothing more then a bad cover of a very good song.. ;-)

  • a hater of golfers is wearing a golfing jumper

  • My favourite ferrari has to be the 550 Marenello.

  • what about the 575m? Or the Superamerica? :P

  • what about its the same as the 550 and that it has no back seats and no fully automatic option

its still a good gt car but the 456 is factually more suited to the gt lifestyle

  • What are you gonna do with a fully automatic gearbox in a ferrari? Alright it has no back seats but still it's a GT ferrari :P But the way to go now, if you've got the money is with a 599 or perhaps the slightly less beautiful 612 :P

  • ye and a good one and back seats arnt a necessity but they're useful. Fair enough a full auto doesnt live up to the GT aim which is to be able to cruise at high speed to a track and to perform like the their lightweight counterparts (Ferrari F355 Challenge in this case). The 612 is a very good looking car and doesnt look as comprimised a design as the 456's with the back wings looking too cumbersome no doubt to cater for its large GT fuel tank. A 599 is a gd GT car and has monster power

  • In my opinion the 612 looks like it's a little too big :P it looks clumsy :P The 599 is perfect, it's beautiful, it's like the hot little sister of the 612 hahaha :P the 456 isn't the best looker either, but hey, a Ferrari is a Ferrari :P

  • 456 is a way better GT but is too discreet and doesnt look like a ferrari except in red and has back seats which you need in a GT and the option of an auto or semi auto

  • Great review, especially the end. I think the 550 is a cool choice if you are too old for the 8 cylinder models or if you ae looking for a gran tourismo. I can imagine its more relaxing to drive than a TR or 348/355.

  • For all his talk about his love for Ferraris, why doesn't he purchase one? A Merc SL55 AMG? Seriously? How about road feel and steering feel? Okay, so the Gallardo, I get. First decent Lambo in years. Volvo XC90? Geez. Five cars he should own. Daily Driver: BMW M5; Family Hauler: Audi S6 Avant; Econobox: Fiat 500 Abarth; Sports GT: Ferrari 599. Sports Car: Ferrari F430 Scuderia.

  • He did own a 355, sold it to buy the SL55.

  • My favorite Ferrari.

  • i love this car i cant understand why he doesnt like it... this car the f430, enzo and the f40 are my favorite ferraris... the california i cant like it.

  • The 550 is gorgeous. I've seen a few 550s (or maybe 575s - isn't much of a difference) and these cars are amazing. I wonder why Clarkson didn't like it. It's a GT - it's supposed to be a car for long trips - thus a car, that is well equipped (heated seats, air con etc.). I also think that it doesn't really look like a Supra...

  • how can he not love this look of this car?! i think, along side the 512tr, this is the greatest looking ferrari ever! his presence it's just unbelievable! it is imperial. it's the car you imagine a king driving. shame on you clarkson!

  • he must have not liked the 550 then, in the same way many people dont like the look of the california now. Its a shape that may not look nice when you first see it but would grow on you in time.

  • lol same colour as vomit

  • "Look what I'm left with"

Didn't he own a 355 at the time?

The one at 5:06 is robably his.

  • Yes he did. Then he sold it and bought an SL55 AMG, which he later sold too to buy a Ford GT. Because of it's unreliability he gave the GT back to Ford for a full refund. Some time later he bought it back. In 2006 he sold the Ford GT again to make room for a Gallardo Spyder. But he didn't keep that one for long either. In 2008 he sold the Gallardo too. In October 2008 he sold his Volco XC90 but bought one again just three months later. He seems to be quite a lunatic man.

  • Maybe he gets big discount from car manufacterers too? Also, if you can drive that much cars in his job, maybe its boring to have them everyday. Also you dont know what car his wife drives . maybe the Volvo was for her :)

  • Cars are often lend to Clarkson. He test them until the tires are worn out or he has enough of it. He then writes his impresssions down in articles for Top Gear magazine and the Sunday Times.

Clarkson opinion sure has quite some influence to the car market. But unless he can be bribed to write something more positive he is not given any rebate.

Clarkson's wife likes cars too. She owns a Caterham R500. Hammond mentioned that in a show. Clarkson bought the Volvo because it's a great family car.

  • His wife has a V8 Vantage, and they also have (had anyways) a Y reg focus and a diesel Range Rover.

  • He's got a Merc CLK Black at the moment, he had it's suspension tuned by a lotus engineer after market lol.

Give it a year, there'll be something else! :)

  • another great upload

  • Thanks
