Actually...maybe generously 5% of britpop bands go to America and make it. America is largely ignorant of most of the british music scene. And the fact is that America is a massive market and takes FOREVER to tour because it is so spread out. So you are right in saying that a British band that makes it in America spend a lot of time there and the original Brit fans resent it.

Say that... most Brit musicians live in the UK not America...so you don't actually steal them...just borrow 'em.

The problem that the USA have is that they are forced-fed a lot of what the record companies decide they should be listening to. Americans aren't stupid, and good bands will always come through as long as people are willing to look. Oasis are one of the best bands that's come through in the last 10 years. God bless 'em.

Actually tons of americans love Oasis, myself included. They play stadium gigs when they come here. It's kind of a weird silent but large fan-base. They're better than anything out of America since the mid nineties (when we at least produced decent grunge bands). Everything else since then from America has been shiiite.
