  • lol the guy with the white hair is cheating. He's had 50 more years to practice.

  • I had Jamie as a teach at MI. He's so talented and yet it still doesn't overthrow his sheer joy for playing and finding the right notes and the feelings he wants to express. I always felt he stood out... I wish some impromptu jam's I was witness to in the rare moments could of been captured to share.

  • Very cool piece of music. That guitarist plays pretty well, in spite of who he has to sit next to.

  • Now, Now, you've seen enough of the Cal Poly Jazz Band to appreciate what they're trying to do. Besides, Jamie Findlay is an Enabler and not someone who tries to intimidate. All of Dr. Kopplin's friends are teachers and instructors at some point in their careers.

  • @NoNoBackdoorJP

Lol, of course, I'm sure Findlay was very encouraging and a great asset to the experience for everyone. But even so, I think playing next to him would still be intimidating, no matter how cool and positive he was. But that being said, this song is a REALLY cool piece of music. I appreciate your posts.

  • If you attend the show, you will often see the Guest Artists (like the Great Jeff Clayton, Stockton Helbing, of course, Jamie Findlay, and the like), working with the students before. Considering that they have enough people schmoozing them all the time, seeing them earnestly working with the Students is heartening. Dr. Kopplin's specialty is the merging of the Music Industry with the Realities of Business, so seeing his friends tutor students makes the experience more satisfying.

  • I thought I would add 2 more points which I think you would appreciate. There are some, let's say, competitive, Students who try to impress. I've found these videos don't show well because the solos don't mesh with the concept of the chart. They end up being a runaway train. The converse happens too. You will see a Student with great promise but needs a little shove to come out. Sherinda Bryant got one from Alex Budman (see the Bridge Over Troubled Water) instantly improving her presence.
