he doesn't suck... he's actually quite good - just not as good as some of the truly gifted 3 year olds on youtube. Being able to keep the eighth notes going with the left hand while alternating quarter notes between the tom and snare is a great accomplishment for a kid his age (and up to five yrs)

there may be a few used ones but if your gonna go small you might be able to find one used. First Act may not be the best quality but they go around 200 dollars. an electronic simmons sd5k is 500 dollars new and probably less used, if it has to be under 100 though you could ethier get an incomplete old one with a snare bass and hi-hat or a preskool one that is his size and there around 80 i think.
