Well vampires are just a myth they don't exist. In another word fantasy. So for that reason people can make vampires to be how ever they want to because its fantasy! I'm sick of hearing oh Vampire doesn't sparkle they burn under the sun. Well Vlad Tepes the original Dracula did not burn under the sun, did not drink blood. No, Bram Stoker just read about the legend of Vlad the Impaler, combined it with another word that in gaelic that sounded like Dracula which meant "Bad Blood". He liked the sound of the name. Yes Vampires are a myth, but if your going to write about them, you should stay true to that myth. I have read many of the vampire folktales, and they should not sparkle.

What I'm trying to say is Dracula novel was inspired by Vlad Tepes and in the novel we sort of got this vampire image in our heads that they hate garlic they burn under the sun etc... But the legends always changed and evolve so Sparkling vampres are Stephenie Meyer's imagination of what vampires are. Just like burning vampres where Bram Stoker's imagination.
