This cats are cute, ok, but to be honest, I know other cats that have a more Panther-like appearance. I know some black british shorthair tomcats which look far more like panthers! Also because they have stronger legs than the Bombay cat and more muscles. Look at the panther(a black leopard), he is a feline predator. The Bombay cat has more the appearance of a black burmese cat. Orientalic cats don´t look like feline predators.
I tamed a ferrel Bombay. It took many weeks before I could get him close enough to touch, but gave him time to touch me. I am lucky enough to be his human. He loves to have his belly rubbed, and he loves to bring me "food" from our field. My wife named him Orpheus.
We had a cat from the shelter. I believe he was a bombay. He was such a loving cat. He would sit all day on my lap kneading me. COmpletely black with copper eyes. Unfortunately we lost him back in 2008 but i will never forget him. R.I.P Creese

Bombay does not mean a black cat, even if they look the same. I do own a pure breed Birman cat got from a registered CFA breeder, had to wait a long time, went throuhg different breeders to get the best one I liked, costed me over $1000 with a contract to be signed (and its a pet quality, meaning no breeding and not show quality.) Pure breed cat like Bombay/Persian...etc. must be registered to CFA, CCFA, with a traceable genetic tree going back 100s of yrs, and not all cats can be registered.

My family has three bombay kittens, well technically they're grown up now, but still. They are the sweetest things ever! Our one cat, Talon, goes for walks on a leash and is always seeking attention. When my sister went to Japan with my brother, out bombay, Night, sat in her bed "crying" he would yowl and follow us around, looking for my sister. He would go to all her favorite spots and yowl when he couldn't find her! When they got back, Night wouldn't leave my sister's side. It was so cute!

I adopted a 3 mo. old kitten from the local Humane Society in April of this year, and it seems that she is at least part Bombay. She has that amazingly shiny patent leather coat and those amber eyes, and the purr-sonality and intelligence of the Bombay. She has long, long legs and a very long tail and body. Only evidence that she's not purebred is that she has a little white patch under her neck, one on her lower belly, and her face is not as short as a purebred looks to have.
My girlfriend and I have a cat we got from a rich family . He acts like this cat but we aren't sure what kind of cat he is . He has brown and black lines on his body and green eyes and yellow on the ends . Ahh I wish I knew what he was . : (
@NanaKite Did you ask the family where they got the cat, or if they know anything about a pedigree? That might help. If he doesn't have a pedigree, or they don't know, it's a distinct possibility that he could be a moggy.
Got a bombay from the adoption shelter, his name is Louis, he is really gluttonous and lazy, but lovable and not agressive even though my calico Honey usually beat him up when he tries to steal her portions of her food.
when I was about 3 years old my mother went to the animal shelter to adopt a cat that looked like morris from the nine lives commercials. She found one that looked like him but he was extremely unfriendly to her, and in the cage next to him was a very big black cat who would push himself against the cage and purr when she got close. She brought him home and named him murphey. He is very loving! We discovered last year that he is a bombay, and he stays very true to his breeds clingy reputation :)
@xRamenChickenx he is also a bit overwheight, but the vet has told us it doesn't seem to effect him that much. he's got nose problems too, but he's very sturdy and loving :)

My cat Peaches (we named her that because she was so sweet) is bombay and we thin she's Siamese too very vocal, she yowls and her face is more angular. Shes a joy to have. Incredibly affectionate and playful. She tries to get out by pushing her hole arm through the mail slot and meows.

Bombay's LOVE adventure. My mom's cat, Salem, was no exception. He once went for a road trip for an entire month, without my mom's permission, but came back all on his own! Beautiful kitty;s.
My Bombay was extremely affectionate! Even my dad (who doesn't like cats) enjoyed petting her. She was such a sweetie. I miss her, and my American shorthair. :(

I have a british bombay, american bombays have a flatter face, and orangish-greenish color. British,their snout sticks out more, and their eyes are copperish- greenish.
Used to have a couple of long nosed bombay's .... and they loved me .. and my family .. and my house guests .. and every one else within reach. Really, really affectionate cats.

My family has three bombay kittens, well technically they're grown up now, but still. They are the sweetest things ever! Our one cat, Talon, goes for walks on a leash and is always seeking attention. When my sister went to Japan with my brother, out bombay, Night, sat in her bed "crying" he would yowl and follow us around, looking for my sister. He would go to all her favorite spots and yowl when he couldn't find her! When they got back, Night wouldn't leave my sister's side. It was so cute!

I rescued a little black cat from the SPCA around here, I'm soo sure he has some of this in him.
He has the personality and eyes. But if you look at his fur in good lighting you see stripes. <3

I adopted a 3 mo. old kitten from the local Humane Society in April of this year, and it seems that she is at least part Bombay. She has that amazingly shiny patent leather coat and those amber eyes, and the purr-sonality and intelligence of the Bombay. She has long, long legs and a very long tail and body. Only evidence that she's not purebred is that she has a little white patch under her neck, one on her lower belly, and her face is not as short as a purebred looks to have.

My girlfriend and I have a cat we got from a rich family . He acts like this cat but we aren't sure what kind of cat he is . He has brown and black lines on his body and green eyes and yellow on the ends . Ahh I wish I knew what he was . : (

@NanaKite Did you ask the family where they got the cat, or if they know anything about a pedigree? That might help. If he doesn't have a pedigree, or they don't know, it's a distinct possibility that he could be a moggy.

Got a bombay from the adoption shelter, his name is Louis, he is really gluttonous and lazy, but lovable and not agressive even though my calico Honey usually beat him up when he tries to steal her portions of her food.

when I was about 3 years old my mother went to the animal shelter to adopt a cat that looked like morris from the nine lives commercials. She found one that looked like him but he was extremely unfriendly to her, and in the cage next to him was a very big black cat who would push himself against the cage and purr when she got close. She brought him home and named him murphey. He is very loving! We discovered last year that he is a bombay, and he stays very true to his breeds clingy reputation :)

My cat Peaches (we named her that because she was so sweet) is bombay and we thin she's Siamese too very vocal, she yowls and her face is more angular. Shes a joy to have. Incredibly affectionate and playful. She tries to get out by pushing her hole arm through the mail slot and meows.

Bombay's LOVE adventure. My mom's cat, Salem, was no exception. He once went for a road trip for an entire month, without my mom's permission, but came back all on his own! Beautiful kitty;s.

My Bombay was extremely affectionate! Even my dad (who doesn't like cats) enjoyed petting her. She was such a sweetie. I miss her, and my American shorthair. :(

I have a british bombay, american bombays have a flatter face, and orangish-greenish color. British,their snout sticks out more, and their eyes are copperish- greenish.
