@mimidmx Well that's because not all fakes are the same. They have good quality fake beats and bad quality it all depends where you buy it from. Did you ask him where did he buy it from? I'll say the best way you can tell if they're real or fake is in the sound. Go to your local Apple Store or Best Buy and try the real ones and then when you listen to the one you're buying from your friend you'll know if it's real or not.

@EthanTianjero If you bought it at BestBuy you have nothing to worry about, it's original if you have any doubts then take it back and have it exchanged if you're still under warranty. But don't worry about the box, the box isn't important look into the actual headphones and it's accessories if the Beats sound amazing and the accessories look like the way they are here then you have nothing to worry about :) Hope this helps!

But I also have the Bose QC2 and for me it's better in my personal opinion not on the sound quality but on the noise cancellation is way better and that's what I mainly aim for. But yeah if you want go for the fakes they don't sound bad, it all depends where you buy it from and what quality.
