My quail Marushka is 10 years old. her diet: wild bird seed, Wild bird seed mixed with Crushed almonds, Quinoa grain, Fresh dill, little egg youlk from my breakfast day in day out, oranges. Also flax seed oil. break a gel and put it on her feathers so she'll clean it and get the benefits....there you are
Careful so they don't catch a cold-Wind draft, getting little feet weat etc!
what do you feed babies. just had some born today about 15 with mom and dad in my backyard. The chicks cant get out of my backyard. Should I throw grain out or something.
@micericeking111 I dont know about the California Quail, but Bobwhite quail like to run or stay on the ground. But they will fly when they have too.Theres nothing like flushing a covey of Quail unexpectantly.Loud wing noise and fast eratic flight..Bobwhites are the cutest birds when they run, they look like the are standing straight up.
beautiful plumage on this handsome little fellow. i did too also used to have a valley quail - female actually . i would naturally respond to all her chirps so i felt a little strange to hear quail chirps like that again, so quite naturally i was responding in low chirp- thats what i get for raising a quail(ya soon end up learning thier language) . X) sad thing is i can understand the chirps meanings . like rosetta stone quail edition XD.
@dragonnagasan Thank you so much! That's adorable. Same here, Tokiko always made the high pitched alarm calls whenever people came in the room. He was super friendly but didn't like other people entering his area. He would throw his head and let them have it! I speak is past tense because just last week, Tokiko passed away. He just turned a year old in May and I expected him to live much much longer. I'm not sure what happened, he passed suddenly. He will be greatly missed. I loved that bird :(
@duckcrazy39 I have more video of my buddy, I will be posting them on youtube when I get a chance. Just a week before he passed away he was dust bathing outside, and spooked and took off to the steps where I was sitting to seek comfort. He was such a great little bird. I would love another but it wouldn't be the same. I have some silkies in the incubator now. i can't wait to spoil them. My last silkie had her own chair in the living room. I love birds ♥
Cricket is a Coturnix Qusail from Japan mini about 1/2 the size of this bird in the video. They start to lay at 7 weeks, hatch in 14-18 days depending on temps in incubators, Joseph T (fly2000jtb)
Oh ok, I have some golden coturnix quail. About the video, I didn't put any settings on it. You could copy the link to the video and send it in an e-mail.l That should work.
I tryed to download the video to send to a friend in another state it says NO FLASH VIDEO FOUND. Is that a setting so your video can not be copied? Our buddy in Ill would have loved to see your bird as well. Joseph T (fly2000jtb)
Yes we would loe a couple like him for sure. All ours are pets and live indoors with us. Cricket is the only one that runs free in the house though. The other guys stay in there 2x2x8 runs. Thanks for the idea did not even think about the email thing duhhhh Joseph T (fly2000jtb)
We got the zillatube downloader it worked even better than the youtube downloader. All the people we talked to said that youtube was going to start charging for us out here to download that is why the FREE downloader says NO FLASH VIDEO FOUND. We sent it to our friend by the way. Hey do you sell hatchiing eggs from your birds? Like I said before we would love a couple like him (female and male) we know with eggs you take your chances Thanks for all your help and PLEASE LIST more of him or birds
