This is "The Awakening" by The Reddings orig. Les didn't know that it was recorded using two bass players so he learned it solo. As for the "Who is best" argument...Les can play any style from Jazz to Metal (just look at who he has toured with). Not only can he play any style but he slaps, taps, strums and fingers in almost every song. There isn't a bass player on the planet that does what he does and add to the fact that he is singing an writing all of the songs. No contest at all.

He didnt write it but he did record it on Highball with the devil with the same name. Though he does not claim it as his own and never has, its tribute.

George Harrison always gets voted as a top-100 guitar player too...my neighbor could outplay him, but since he's in the Beatles he gets that honor. Same with Entwistle, who was lucky enough to play next to Townsend's songwriting.
