I agree with him completely, I've found the word to be very degrading (I'm not African-American) no matter if the term is used for "my buddie," "my pal," etc. I've made a bunch if people stop using the term and when people say it, I ask them not to use it around me. :) "we've come a long way, and still have lots to go" so true

Illustrates how naieve black people are about how white people really think. You could ban the word but they'll just invent a new one to deliver the same sentiment. It would be better to have it all out in the open and let white people say the n word as much as they like instead of brow beating them for having disagreeable thoughts. First, this young man gave an excellent speech. But, I find it truly disheartening & frustrating to read/hear all these praises like this was the greatest speech ever made, and this boy MUST be a genius! As black people have our standards become so low that this speech qualifies as genius? This is what our kids are SUPPOSED to be like!....
