new engine? well fist off they do get a break in after overhaul, at least for a few hours. I work for an engine O/H shop. we run our engines for several hours and get all our numbers in the good before sending it back to the customer. break in for new cylinders and or rings is around 50 hours running 20w 50 mineral oil then switched to ashless dispersant oil after
I love the sound of the four blader on the 6 cylinder. Whats it like on takeoff? Do you find it produces more left turning tendency upon adding power?
PH-GWW, one of only two Ruschmeyer R90-230RG's in The Netherlands. 230 hp in combination with a four-blade prop, 173kts. Gotta love it! Please visit EHMZ :)
For most GA Aero engines, the letters at the start of the engine designation specify it's features/arrangement, and the number directly after the dash gives it's displacement in cubic inches, The I means it is Fuel injected, and the O means it is a horizontally opposed engine (in this case 6 cylinders)
Lets not forget Lycoming's TIO-540 range of engines (T denotes Turbocharging, instead of Teledyne Contental's TS prefix.) Continental also have an engine called the GTSIO-520, used on the Cessna 421 Golden Eagle. The right hand engine in a Piper PA-31 Chieftain is the LTIO-540 (Left rotating- Turbocharged- Injected- Opposed). This allows it's engines & props to be contra-rotating.

I would love to know more about the airplane itself.

i don´t think that it´s a new engine! because you don`t get so high RPM at the first runup! ...

Well.. you do. Maybe you got the wrong impression because you're not used to hearing four-blade propellers.

Yes, you definitely have to use a lot of right foot pressure on take off.

And goes as far as
TSIO (turbosupercharged - injected - opposed) and IGSO (injected - geared - supercharged - opposed)

It just goes on and on doesn't it?? ...and the GTSIO-520 sounds great too.
You can hear alot of exhaust muffling common with all 'T' applications when something like a Cheiftain fly's overhead.

It is injected. The full type designation is IO-540-C4D5.
