Amazingly evocative work in this montage.I so admire people who can really express what's in their mind & heart in this way! I have dabbled in drawing/sketching most of my life,but always just quit as I can only seem to 'copy' imagery rather than create something from my imagination! This is excellent work,keep it up!
It's pretty heavy, but feels heavier than it is because it is an awkward thing to move. But it can still be lifted with just two people. The paint is acrylic, but nothing expensive. Usually just those small cheap upright tubes you can buy in WalMart or any craft store.
No, they get moved to the kiln while leather hard, but they don't get fired until they are bone dry. No shattered pieces, but yes, they crack occasionally. But cracks and small breaks are pretty easy to repair since I paint them rather than glaze them. Just fill it in, sand it and paint it.
Thank you. Most are fired clay, but a couple are pictured sitting on the kiln shelf before firing. They are hollow built, but with no armature. Yes, they are all stoneware, but usually not fired past cone 4 or 6. They finished by painting instead of glazing.

what advise would you give a new artist regarding making a modest living off their talent?

@TheSKYizFalling
Haha. Sorry, I can't currently give any advice on that. I haven't tried to make a living off of my work.

just a technical question
u say they are slab built & hollow....well r they at the leatherhard stage when u fire them? and if so do u get many cracked or shattered pieces ?

Very interesting work. I especially like the pieces coming out of the wall, but they are all well done and capture a feeling.

WOW! Very powerful. emotional and mystical. Even though they are realistic the are more metaphorical than literal if you know what I mean.
Did you start with slabs or coil, or what?
And is the one shown prior to firing of the man sitting with his head leaning on his arm for sale?

These are so beautiful. Are they all fired clay? Are they hollow built over metal or something? Stoneware?
