  • @Marisaur No because I'm 13, lol.

  • Is the septum cartilage?

  • do you only do deer?

  • hahaha, i'm 14 and interested in taxidermy. Is that weird?

  • @Marisaur no

  • Wow thats awsome i just started deer hunting this year im 14 and ive always wanted to know how to do this so maybe one day i could do my own deer mounts

  • Yes , I use an average of 1 blade per deer for fleshing and 1 for prep work, I use the scaple primarily for caping

  • Do you find the "yellow thing" easier to use than a scalpel? How often do you have to change out the blade on the YT? I find scalpel blades dull pretty fast and I can go through several just turning ears and doing eyelids and skinning out the head.

  • This video makes me so interested in taxidermy. Thank you. It seems like a great hobby/Job.

  • it really is. I got started about 3 months ago and I've already just fallen in love with it! I've always loved huntin (small game, big game...trees)and now that I'm learning and gettin better at it, my fun don't end with the hunt no more! I can get enough hides in one trip, to last me until my next huntin trip! lemme know if you want some beginner tips that I had to learn the hard way. and depending on where you are in the country, there may be ways to get nice hides for free. best of luck.

  • Whats with the sound it keeps going on and off

  • its an older camera so when the sound volume in the room is below a certain decibel level the camera stops recording sound all together. and when he talks the camera begins recording sound again

  • did that fleshing cone happen to be a sanded down Louisville slugger?

  • No, but it was made on the same thing bats are made with. Those will also be available for purchase soon.

  • Oh alright thanks. There aren't many places to buy taxidermy supplies where I live so I figured it might just be easier to sand down the end of an old bat.

  • actually you might wanna consider it. take a bat, cut it into the general shape you want, then sand and shape until you got a decent fleshing horn. every dollar you save adds up in the end.

  • never new how to turn lips herd of it every one i asked dident no eather so i always ignored it thanks alot!!!

  • Great video thanks!! From a guy that hangs his hat in your neck of the woods, Coldwater, MI

  • good video. Thank you.

  • Please leave feedback. Tell us what you'd like to see.

  • ok, i have been ripping a lot of wholes in the skin. I use a regular butcher knife when i deflesh the skin. Not the nose or anything. Am i just going to fast or what. And how to you tan the ears.

  • Probably not sharp enough. The "yellow thing" - as it's referred to a lot in emails to us - works very well as its razor sharp (literally). We're in the process of getting them out to production so check our website often.

  • so were did you learn to do this at
