@saxkid07 no offence but the tank is like 200 or less and live rock it like 4 a pound and green star polyps are cheap and pulsing zenias are also cheap maybe 600 tops
@postopia1992 This is when the tank was about 2 years old. Less than 800 was including casualities and stuff. I did have that 12g packed with softies and a few lps and one time but a few snails dies from a salinity change and all that was left was the fish and a few softies. I now have a 24g HQI ill post a video sometime soon

im having a prob with algae as well.i have a 10 gallon tank, nothing in it except some live rock, sand and 1 damsel.i dont feed the damsel because it its so much algae...i do water changes..ive even tested it out by doing 20% 3 days in a row...and with in 2 days its brown/green again. ive never had this much trouble with any of my tanks before!u will probably say get an ro machine. i will do taht if i HAVE to but i dont understnd why the other tanks arent getting algae and they are off the tap
just get a phosphate diffuser and a really good brand of phos absorber to put in it it goes for 40 a can ill pm u when i have the info. For your 10 gallon i recomedn you use and aqua clear 50 and fll it up with amoo chips and chemi pure elite and api phos x as soon as you tested that your cycle is good and that w/o a filter u have 0 ammo and nitrites. NEVER TEST YOU WATER RIGHT AFTER A CHNAGE ITS NEVER STABLE WAIT a day. and i wud add more livee rck. check out my 15 gal
very nice setup im hoping to get into the corals when i get the proper lighting to house them. you should check out my videos ask questions give advice or give suggestions whatever you want.
HI guest what I am using a biowheel 200 and a koralia power head 2, reactor phosban 150 and a 150 watt heater only in my 36 gallon bowfront reef tank and my xenia is doing very well and happy in their? this is my new account because youtube already suspended my other accounts so many times now? did u say that RO water stops algae growing so much right? do u mostly use RO water right for your reef tank? what does RO water do to the corals and live rocks plus fish?
RO water water that goes through a process called Reverse Osmosis that rids the water of unhealthy chemicals found in tap water. There is a certain chemical found in Tap Water that usually promotes the growth of brown algae.
Hey I am thinking of buying a 12 gallon nano cube. What kind of stuff would i need to start it and how many fish can i put in, is it easy to maintain and other stuff like that.
salt, live rock, live sand, R/O water, fish tank, thermometer, Salinity-tester, test-kit, ph-up. After your tank is cycled, i would say 1-2 small fish and a couple snails and crabs and maybe a shrimp. Make sure you buy the fish when they are relatively small, they grow accordingly to the tank's size they are in. I would recommend clownfish, they are great for a new hobbyist because they are so hardy
hey your polyps are great. my polyps are always closed dont know why the firt two days they were fine but now the polyps are always closed. if anybody knows something please tell me
very nice tank. I m impressed. Keep up the good work. it sadens me when I see fish suffering in aquariums that are not kept well. glad to see some fish are happy :)
The biocube has a different filtration system. I would say that the aqua pod is similar to the nanocube. 2x24 watts is enough for most soft corals, the one shown in this video only had 24 watts and the one i currently have has 72 watts.
very nice tank. well done for the work you have put in. I'm a reefie to and would like to share a video of my tank with others. see it on here at: "marek's reef aquarium" :-)))
im starting a 12 gallon reef tank and i was wondering if i would need a protein skimmer and also is it hard to maintain? very nice tank to..i hope mine comes out like yours:)
take the sponges and rings out! they are only collection detritus! the back of the tank is covered with black latex, you can cut out a a rectangular section in the center compartment, attach a fuge light and grow chaeto in there, much better than those rings
I love your setup. I'm getting a 12 Gallon Nano Cube too... can you tell me how many pounds of sand and how many pounds of live rock you have in here? Also, what type of coral are you using?
Very pretty and tastefully done... a lot of beautiful things, but not too crowded.
hi from me!i want to ask u sth!i have a 14 galon tunk with two ocellaris, one blue damsel and one three stripe damsel.i haven't got a skimmer but i want to put a coral.what do u suggest?
man your nano makes me jealous I have had nothing but problems with mine, I have lost 2 fish so far, My original perc has managed to hang on, can you look at mine and tell me if you see a problem?
hi how long you kept d water before you putting a fish in it.and what about water change??what kind a water do you used for??where do i get that??thank you
I had been cycling my water for about 1 1/2 months before I put any fish in it. With this small of a tank, you should change the water about every 2 weeks. I use Reverse Osmosis water from your local fish shop. It is about 50 cents to 1.00 per gallon. You can get a 5-gallon jug.
Thx for the comment Stevi! The Xenia has actually recently died becausee the temperature got too high. The fans have recently fried so I ordered some more last night. They are 5000 rpm 60x60x25mm stainless steel. They should come in next week. I can't wait until they get here!!
sorry for asking but how much did this cost all together (if you cant remember just a rough estimate) because im really interested.

You wouldn't necessarily need a protein skimmer. As long as you change the water weekly, it shouldn't be too hard to maintain.

great looking tank how do you keep your sand so white ?
ArizonaMtKingsnake 3 years ago
RO water and when I have bad algae, I stir it up with a tooth brush.
saxkid07 3 years ago
OH I see you do stir it to remove debris, algae ok thanks
ArizonaMtKingsnake 3 years ago
You stir the sand with the tooth brush? And for the glass, how do you clean it? I suppose very carefully as to not bump the coral or something right?

It's been so long that I can't even remember how many lbs. Your local fish store will most likely know how many.
saxkid07 3 years ago
Really nice tank, im hoping to get one but i dont know what type. Are Nano's good for first timers? I also love the coral so i need that in there :P
Shoobar 4 years ago
Yes, a nano is great for first timers, yet they require quite a bit of maintenance.(weekly water changes, replacing carbon, rings, fans fry easily)
saxkid07 3 years ago

Nice Tank Jake! Pulsing Xenia Can Be Difficult To Keep, although its a good indicator on your PH levels.
To low, and high levels of ph and it probably won't pulse as it should.
I'm running a 24 gallon dx cube, and i've recently bought a 150 watt HQI Halide Light that goes on the back of the tank.
What a transformation, the corals and fish look even more stunning! HALIDES ARE THE WAY TO GO.....
DRISSERY 4 years ago

Thanks great post.
