Let's make sure we don't take Colossians 2:17 out of context. It reads Which ARE a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. It does not state WERE a shadow. So of course if the righteous objectives mentioned in verse 16 are a shadow its clear that the same is yet to come. Please be advised Paul was giving support to believers who were being pressured by gentiles to drink blood, eat unclean foods & practice the worship of the sun, moon & stars. History & the bible proves this. Peace!
Well I agree that we should keep the Sabbath, but what day is the the Sabbath?. The days of the week were designed around the moons; the feast and the harvest days. from my calculations the Sabbath falls on 8th,15th,22th and 29th of every-month this year and I am not certain that is correct. The fact that the Jews were exiled from Isreal in 400 AD they made a new calender on what they thought were the days because you cannot determined the days with out the harvest .
"The seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God." Ex 20:10
What "seventh day"?
"For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it." v11.
God made the earth and all that is in it in six consecutive days. Gen ch 1. A "day" He defines as a part of time having an "evening and morning" (Gen 1:5, 8, 13), that is, a 24-hr period, governed of course by the earth rotating on it's axis around a light source, the sun.
Then on the seventh day the Creator rested from His work of creation. That is why the seventh day is the "Sabbath", the "ceasing".
What happens after the seventh day? The weekly cycle repeats. Mat 28:1.
Also note that the seven day weekly cycle has nothing to do with any calendar, nor with any other planetary body.
The US Naval Observatory has stated positively that there has been NO break in our seven day cycle from before the time of Jesus 2000 years ago, so as long as Jesus knew which day was His seventh, we can have complete confidence the seventh day today, Saturday, is the same seventh day Jesus kept.
He says "If you love Me, keep My commandments" John 14:15. God bless.
@carlsmithey well lets look to Jesus....what day did he go in the Synagogue the sabbath day. Was he the creator. yes heb 1:2 so did he establish the sabbath yes! while on earth would he not know what day was the day he made! and have his people worship on the right day. Look at the resurrection it states what day the sabbath is clearly and Jesus keep that day as he commanded his people to do because he saved us.
The bible shares that the sign or mark of God's people is his Sabbaths Both the 7th day and the 7 annual Sabbaths So it stands to be a valid idea that the sign or Mark of the beast would represent something along the same idea A mark on the hands(the day we work) and on the head( what we believe)
Therefore the mark of the beast could be Sunday came from the Catholic church along with Christmas Easter and a host of other non scriptural practices Is Roman Catholic Church s the Beast?
The 7th day Sabbath and the 7 annual Sabbaths are to be as an everlasting commandment. Which were being followed far long before Moses came along. The Apostles all kept God's Annual Sabbaths. Paul warned that there were already those who were already following false doctrines The Catholic church followed them also up to 325 AD. The Nicaea council of 325 brought in new ideas to their doctrines but from an old religion called Paganism. Sunday, Easter Christmas all began in Christianity in 325 AD
Notice Paul in Col 2:14 is talking about ORDINANCES (KJV) which were against us, annual new moon meat & drink sabbaths, shadows of good things to come. See also Heb 10:1. These annual new moon meat & drink offering sabbaths are all found in Leviticus chapter 23, ordinances which God gave to the nation of Israel.
All these ordinances showed us we were dead in sin and needing a Savior, for without a Savior, we were all under the curse of the law, we were dead men walking.
@Nirky You guys are twisting what he's saying....he never says anything about 'annual' sabbath....he meant all abbath days...paul is a false prophet, wake up!!! research it....
Nowhere in Colossians 2:14-17 does Paul mention nor include God's 4th Commandment, and the reason is obvious. Aside from Bible silence on God deleting one of His Commandments (in the heart of His law and beginning with the word "Remember" no less) as so many baselessly claim, these "shadows" all pictured deliverance from sin, breaking God's law, His Ten Commandments. Rom 7:7-12, 22. God's 7th day Sabbath was created in a perfect & sinless world, therefore it cannot be a shadow.
@Nirky You seem to research things very diligently. Could you please ease my 'confusion'. The question is, did the jews use the julian calendar or their own calendar? The jews didn't switch from their lunar calendar until the reign of Constantius which outlawed calculation of the original calendar. Saturday nor sunday is not the sabbath.You have to go off of the original calculations. REFERENCE: The Jewish Encyclopedia, "Calendar." & Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. X, "Week," p. 482
Calendar makes NO difference in God's 7 day weekly cycle, how many days in a month, what the days were numbered, etc., makes NO difference. And we know that since before Jesus' day the 7 day weekly cycle has not been broken, according to the US Naval Observatory. Ask them to verify what I am saying if you have any doubts. As long as Jesus knew which Day was His, the Lord's Day, then we can have FULL confidence the Day we keep now as the 7th Day is the same Day that He kept.
@Nirky The US naval observatory does not mention whether or not the jewish calendar 7 day cycle has been broken. I'm talking about the original jewish calendar, not the one that was made after romans put pressure on them to refrain from using their original calendar...
The Observatory CAN tell if even ONE DAY has been added or forgotten all the way back through Jesus' time and beyond...not even ONE DAY has been changed. God is faithful, even if we aren't!
Again, any calendar has nothing to do with a seven day cycle. You can rename any day or call it any number, if any day was missing or added, we can tell...by observing the heavens. THEY tell us the 7 day cycle has NEVER been broken. The reason is clear.
@Nirky well, if you look up the hebrew word for month it will tell you when a new month is. Khodesh = new moon (new month), new moon is the first rest day in the month, by it you base all other sabbaths, the answer is in the scriptures on how the sabbath is meant to be kept...the calendar you use does matter.
In relation to God's weekly 7 day cycle, no calendar matters.
As long as Wednesday is not followed by Friday, or Monday is not preceeded by Saturday, for example, then whatever calendar one uses makes NO DIFFERENCE in a 7 day weekly cycle.
In the Dark Ages, for example, they changed from one kind of calendar to another. The numbered days of the month changed by like 11 days...but the weekly cycle was unaffected. Wednesday the 14th was followed by Thursday the 25th. No change.
@Nirky well, his true calendar is preserved in his perfect hebrew language...khodesh = new moon, new month....you have the free will to ignore the signs if you want....
"And it shall come to pass, that from one NEW MOON to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
I'm sorry, but the seventh DAY is in no way determined by the moon.
God created heaven & earth and all that is in them IN SIX DAYS, and rested the SEVENTH DAY. Read Genesis ch 1 & 2. The Bible's definition of a "day" is a 24 hr period in which the sun goes down (evening), then rises (morning), and then goes down again. Genesis ch 1 & 2. According to Genesis, a day is determined BY THE SUN. There is thus no mention of the moon in God's 4th Commandment.
@Nirky Well, we're never going to come to an agreement on this. The proof is in the language if you ask me. Khodesh=new moon/month <--the months, therefore the calendar should surround this....I agree to disagree....
Show me anywhere in God's 4th Commandment where He instructs us or shows us how a "new moon" determines His 7th DAY.
A new moon happens every 29.53 days. That's the time it takes for the moon to orbit around the earth. You DO realize that when you try to use the lunar calendar in place of God's 7-day cycle, after about a month and a half the 7th day isn't the 7th day anymore, don't you? Try it.
@Nirky this sacred 7 day cycle was broken by god himself with some of the festivals falling in the middle of a week....god can't sin so the breaking of the 7 day cycle is irrelevant
@Nirky worship days as well can fall on the tenth day of the month....
"Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD."
@Nirky "And ye shall have on the tenth day of this seventh month an holy convocation; and ye shall afflict your souls: ye shall not do any work therein:"
Yes, the annual meat & drink shadow sabbaths began on certain days of the calendar...so how does this relate at all to God's weekly 7 day cycle which determines His seventh day Sabbath?
@Nirky Isa 66:24 "And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have TRANSGRESSED AGAINST ME: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh." Paul saying to forget the new moon is blasphemous.....
Paul doesn't say to forget new moons, he says the annual new moon meat & drink ceremonial sabbath ORDINANCES were SHADOWS of the good things to come, which substance we now have, Christ!
@Nirky no, you say he says annual, that's not in the book. That's your private interpretation. As far as Paul's argument that because it's a shadow of things to come, this contradicts Peter's statement that says baptisms save us. Baptisms are also a shadow of things to come. The reason why Paul contradicts Peter is because he's a false prophet.
"So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ." Col 2"16-17
"For the law, having a shadow of the good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with these same sacrifices, which they offer continually year by year, make those who approach perfect." Heb 10:1
@Nirky Look, no one knows who wrote the book of Hebrews and Paul is a heretic....straight from the creator's mouth I have this: "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."...the creator highly esteems the new moon and sabbath...why don't you? ....because Paul told you so, you follow the creation over the creator
Of course He esteems them, He created them both! The new moon will be used to determine each month. Rev 22:2, and will be related to the Tree of Life giving its fruit!
@Nirky Let me tell you what my Father in Heaven told me, "in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established." Paul is the only one with this type of blasphemous rhetoric....
Pls answer my question... the annual meat & drink shadow sabbaths began on certain days of the calendar...so how does this relate at all to God's weekly 7 day cycle which determines His seventh day Sabbath?
@Nirky look, things were originally done one way, then they were changed. You believe this change is meaningless, I don't. I believe this was done by satan himself. The 7 day cycle is irrelevant because the creator breaks it himself when he asigns rest days in the middle of a week. Satan will "think to change times and laws" (Dan 7:25)...that sounds like paul to me
Please read the 4th Commandment again. The rest is the 7th Day. The 7th Day is the Day God blessed and sanctified. Sanctified means "set apart for holy use". That Day, the Lord's Day (Rev 1:10) is holy, because God rested in it, making it holy. God neither blessed nor sanctified any other day, not the first, not the third. Only the seventh, because it it He rested from all His work.
@Nirky again, we're not getting anywhere....I agree to disagree....all we can do now is go with Rev 22:11 which says "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still."
The temporary annual meat & drink ceremonial sabbaths were ordinances of good things to come (Col 2:16-17), an Israelite in faith keeping those shadow days which pointed to the real substance--Christ-- did not break Christ's 4th Commandment 7th day Sabbath in keeping the shadows! Look again at Lev 23, this is why God had Moses repeat his 4th Commandment within the Lev 23 ordinances to show that.
Please consider reading again God's account of Creation to understand what the 7th day means, to Jesus and to us. Then please consider reading again God's 4th Commandment. If you find a reference to a moon in His Commandment, please feel free to post it here. God bless you in your walk with Him!
@Nirky you say that you have to work 7 days and then rest, what I'm saying is that some of the sabbaths the creator proposed would cause someone to work 3 days and then rest...only reason why I brought this up is because you said that the lunar calendar is bad because eventually the 7 work week would get disrupted....but god disrupts his own work day week with the sabbaths
Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God.
In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates." con't
"For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it." Ex 20:8-11
It does NOT say you must work 6 days. It says you have six days to do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.
I have read Peter over and over and have never seen that verse. Please give scripture/verse for "baptism as a shadow of good things to come".
Shadows were not the good things to come. They were ceremonial laws kept in faith until the real object, the genuine good things to come, Jesus, came!
@Nirky our sins being cleansed has not happened yet, the baptisim is a shadow of a good thing to come....just as the sabbath days are a shadow of eternal rest....
If you are going to make claims you cannot back up, then what is the point of discussing?
The annual meat & drink shadow sabbaths began on certain days of the calendar...so how does this relate at all to God's weekly 7 day cycle which determines His seventh day Sabbath?
"And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
@Nirky you're going off of present day understanding, new moon was when the moon first appeared in the sky after it 'disappeared'...this is when the jews new it was a new month....the current calendar is not alligned with the creators infallible moon cycle, therefore, the true sabbath isn't being followed
@Nirky Also, to me Isa 66:23 says it all, per the creator speaking, the new moons are tied to the sabbaths
"And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
So what if it's a shadow of things to come, so are baptisms....Peter says baptisms save us???
"The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"
Shadows were the ceremonial sacrificial laws found in the book of the law, they pictured deliverance from sin. Nobody was saved by keeping of any law, not even the Ten Commandments, we are only saved by FAITH in His righteousness. Romans ch 3&4.
Why then does paul say in the book of Romans the 14 ch it us ok that some esteem one day unto God (the sabbath) and others esteem every day alike? Paul also talks about becoming a hew that he may gain the jews unto Christ. How does a hew become a new? By keeping the laws that the jews kept in attempt to get them to hear him in the doctrine he taught.
Read Romans ch 14 again. Paul's subject is "doubtful things", not to dispute with new members or those with weaker faith. verse 1. New members, both Jew and gentile, came into the church, believing in Jesus, but some still keeping days they had previously kept, such as Jewish believers still thinking they needed to keep the sacrificial ceremonial law, with days such as Passover & Unleavened Bread.
Gentiles also had certain days which some still believed were important. Paul warns those stronger in the faith not to weaken the new believers' faith in Christ by disputing with them. Notice Paul nowhere talks about God's law, His Ten Commandments (Rom 7:22) in chapter 14. Certainly God's law, which defines what sin is, is one of the least doubtful things there is. God bless.
He doesn't, you are not understanding Paul if you believe that. Keep reading Paul, God inspired him to write a full HALF of the New Testament! Where is your faith in Him?
@Nirky paul states "all things are lawful for me", how are you going to twist this to mean something good? My faith is in the creator, not paul. The bible is just a collection of books. The word of god is perfect, this was decreed before there was a 'bible'
Jesus said, come to me all you who labor and are heavy labored and I will give you rest, question was he talking about the sabbath, a passing of time? can a day give a person eternal rest? what about work do we need to by law work six days, I think your missing something important. According to the Sabbath day teaching you would be sinning not to work on monday or say thursday. Im confused, please explain this away.
Jesus, our Creator, made the heavens & earth, the sea, and the fountains of waters, in 6 days.
On the 1st day He made light. On the 2nd day He made a firmament in the midst of waters. On the 3rd day Jesus gathered the waters from dry land, and made all vegetation. On the 4th day He made the sun & moon. On the 5th day He made living creatures. And on the 6th day He made us. He surveyed all His creation and called it very good. Genesis 1.
@Nirky Im thinking that, God showing that he rested after the work of creation is used a symbol of the work christ did on the cross. he finished his work and gives us true rest and salvation.
"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made." Gen 2:1-3
The seventh day Sabbath was made in a perfect & sinless world by Jesus resting in it. He then blessed it, and sanctified it, which means He set it apart for holy use.
Jesus gave this 24hr period of holy time to man as a gift, not to be a legalistic burden to conform to (Mark 2:27), but rather to be a blessing--a period of special time, in which we can cease from our regular activities and distractions.
A day to focus on Jesus, taking delight in thinking of & doing His ways. Isa 58:13-14. Any important relationship requires quality time together. We ought to worship Him always, every day, but Jesus set aside this day of holy time for all who in faith would obey His 4th commandment.
So the 4th commandment is a memorial of God's creation, worshiping Jesus as Creator.
But it also is a memorial to our salvation in Jesus. Paul in Hebrews chapter 4 tells the Hebrews, who have just lost their Levitical priesthood, that the seventh-day Sabbath remains, as do all His commandments, because it is an example of spiritual rest--SALVATION--which all who have faith to obey Him do enter into. Hebrews 4:1-11.
@Nirky , I'm thinking that the good news Jesus brought us is that we are saved by grace there is no works involved, but good works are a testimony to your knowledge that you are in fact saved. Otherwise you'll find yourself working out your salvation. Paul taught a lot on the subject of grace and works.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Eph 2:8-9.
We are ONLY saved by grace, on the basis of His righteousness, and not our own. We have all sinned, and fallen short of God's glory. Rom 3:23. Our own righteousness, whatever good we do, cannot save us, we need Christ's righteousness imparted to us. That is justification, by faith. Rom 3:30, Gal 3:8.
So since we are saved by grace, the basis of His righteousness and not our own, does that mean that we can now wilfully sin--transgress His commandments (1 Jn 3:4)--and His grace will still cover us?
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid! How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." Rom 6:1-4
It was our breaking of His law that caused His death--and ours. Paul asks the rhetorical question, can we who are only saved by grace continue to willfully transgress His commandments?
Paul puts it even more forcefully in Hebrews ch10:
"For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries." Heb 10:26
If we continue to live a commandment-breaking lifestyle after we hear of the good news of Jesus, Paul tells us Jesus' grace--His sacrifice for our commandment breaking--no longer covers us.
What more can the Lord Jesus do for those who refuse to abandon their sinful lifestyle? They claim Christ as their Savior, but denying Him by their works.
"Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?" Heb 10:29
Jesus not only gives us rest by forgiving our sin--transgression of His law (1 Jn 3:4), He also gives us His strength by His Spirit in us to obey His commandments, writing His law in our hearts. Jer 31:31-34, Heb 8:10, Rom 8:1-4, Phil 4:13. So only those who confess & repent of their sins and by faith keep Jesus' commandments do enter into His rest. Jesus gives them His rest, which is forgiveness & salvation.
@Nirky, so its not really by the power of God through grace but we have to be smart enough to know we should keep the ten commandments to be saved, so it really is through works and our wisdom then OK. the knowledge of good and evil?
What does the Sabbath day of the week represent? Why was physical rest command?and since rest of one day of the week was commanded doesn't that make by default work being commanded for 6days, for it says six days is just as binding, you shall do all thy labors but on the sabbath you shall rest? I think your missing something important. what does work and rest have to do with the prophecy of the coming Christ? and was that rest and labor fulfilled in Christ?
but on the sabbath day of the the week I must say I do not fully agree, I use to keep the Sabbath but after some better understanding I now dont keep any day, but understand for a son the christ was our sabbath,come to me all who are heavy ladden and I will give you rest, true rest, and true worship, he is the true rest. ever wonder why the word forever is not in the strong's concordance?
That's true, nobody is justified and therefore saved by what they do, because we have all sinned, broken His spiritual law, therefore we all fall short of His glory. Rom 3:23. We NEED Jesus' righteousness credited to us. That is JUSTIFICATION. Rom 6:4, Gal 2:16.
However, saved by only His grace (Eph 2:8), we cannot willfully break His law, sin (1 John 3:4), and still claim His grace. See also Romans 6:1-4.
Jesus says "If you love Me, keep My commandments." John 14:15
There is no salvation in keeping the Law. The first Christians were Jews who met together on the first day of the week because, as Jews they observed the Sabbath. Why stop at the 10 commandments if God's instruction to the Hebrews was eventually law for a mankin?. The law served it's purpose in showing that no man could keep it. And in breaking one you break them all.
Good Job with Gods words, some good balance,good scriptures, i am still interested in the word shadow of things, maybe we do need to celebrate the holyday sabbaths, Good job on sabbath and 10 commandments, i am on a journey back to God from a fallen evil church that destroyed many men,because the leaders where evil never our we to follow Men we have to beware of churches that are made for men not God.But excellant excellant presentantion for OUR HOLY G-D
Of course, it would be my honor. I also want to point out this video isn't mine, I did not make it, but used it with permission of its creator, TheForerunner777. God bless your walk with our LORD Jesus!
TOTALLY APPRECIATE YOUR STUDY & TESTIMONY. I'm new to these things though I've been in institutional church all my life. Can we PLEEEASSE BE FRIENDS???
Very nice and energetic presentation my friend. Its interesting to note even after Christ 2nd coming, the Feast of Tabernacles are still commaded to be observed (Zec 14:16-9). In fact, there is a direct punishment to nations who will not observe it.
If these Feast Days are no longer needed to be kept, as you say they were also nailed to the cross, then why Zec 14 tells us even gentile nations will observe these during the millenium?
First, let me say that this video was created by another and used with his express permission. It is not mine, but I fully agree with it, having researched it thoroughly myself.
You asked, if Paul showed in Col 2 that the sacrificial new moon sabbath shadow feast days were clearly done away with at the cross, why does Zechariah 14 say we will keep the feast of Tabernacles in the New Earth?
The feast of Tabernacles was God's final annual feast day. Israelites offered sacrifices, drink offerings, and both burnt & grain offerings, and dwelt in booths for 7 days to commemerate God delivering them from the bondage of Egypt. Lev 23:43. Egypt also represents sin, see Ezek 30:15-16.
So why did God want them to dwell in tents? What does that have to do with the New Earth?
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb 11:8-10
"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland." Heb 11:13-14
The New Heavens and New Earth is the fulfillment, the anti-type, of the feast of Tabernacles! All who have faith in Christ look forward to where they truly belong, His heavenly country. They dwelt in tents confessing they were only pilgrims and sojourners, the looked forward by faith to their eternal reward! When Zechariah says the redeemed will keep the feast of Tabernacles, he meant it, because they will LIVE it! The New Heavens and New Earth is the fulfillment of Israel dwelling in tents.
So as the feast of Tabernacles is a symbol here for the New Heavens and New Earth, what does Zechariah symbolically mean when he says those who do not come up to worship will not receive any rain, but will receive plagues? Zech 14:17-19 Does the Revelation say the wicked will be scorched and will receive plagues prior to His second coming?
Also, God declares He will make an utter end of sin, sin will NOT rise again. Nahum 1:9 There will be no more hurt, or pain, or destruction, none at all! Isa 11:9, 65:25 Only righteousness will dwell within. 2 Pet 3:13. If we interpret Zech 14 to say that there will be disobedient sinners among the redeemed, we make God out to be an absolute LIAR! Let us listen to Him and believe. He says sin will NOT rise again! Zech 14 tells the disobedient will not enter in, but will perish beforehand!
Actually, FoT does not represent the New Heaven/Earth. The very meaning of Tabernacle (tent) means its suppose to be temporary. The better question to ask rather than trying to prove these feasts are no longer needed to be observe is what do these feast represent to God's plan for salvation.
You see we must consider all counts especially the sequence of events leading up to the New Heavens/Earth.
First to consider is, the 1K years gap between the 1st resurrection and 2nd resurrection....
To take Zech 14 literally goes against all of God's clear teachings about sin being utterly done away with. Nah 1:9, Isa 11:9, 65:25, 2 Pet 3:13 Whole nations of the redeemed will not be in rebellion!
Tabernacles was the faithful dwelling in tents, looking forward to the coming heavenly country. Heb 11:8-10, 13-14 Zech 14 pictures the fulfillment of Tabernacles, the faithful receiving their reward in Christ, which is salvation in Him and eternal life in a restored, perfect and sinless world!
When Paul says let no one judge you in Col 2, it is because we know the real substance is Christ, which we now have, the use for those shadows is PAST.
To those who insist that we observe shadows, I would ask what do those shadow days add to us, now that we have Jesus and His perfect sacrifice for our sins, His Holy Spirit to guide us in His will, and Revelation, which gives us specifics and details about how God will work out His plan of salvation?
Col 2, Paul wasn't proving if these feast, Sabbaths should still be kept, but their attitude about others on how they keep these days. He pointed out, they should not be bickering about HOW they keep these as they shadow a bigger meaning.
The word 'shadow' there does not mean PAST, as it said so plainly, "a shadow of things to come"(verse17). Rather these Sabbaths and/or Annual Holy Days REPRESENTS coming events which Christians should be studying the significance while celebrating these days.
HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! SO MUCH!!!! FOR SPEAKING THE TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHOOOOOOAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!! (I'm Screaming and jumping up and down for you!!!!) You better study and show yourself approved!!! Thank you so much!!!!
In your zeal to tell your opinions, you do not esteem my words enough to actually read what I have to say. I am sorry you did not come here to discuss in love and truth God's word, and I see my words to you are in vain.
Those feast days were called "shadows", they represented the coming fulfillment in Christ!
For example, the Days of Unleavened Bread consisted of abstaining from regular leavened 'puffy' bread for 7 days and instead eating unleavened, non-puffy bread. Leaven, which puffed up, represented sin. Gal 5:9, Lk 12:1, 1 Cor 5:6
The Days of Unleavened Bread was a shadow representing His perfect sacrifice, it pictured the sacrifice of His sinless life so that we can be reconciled to the Father!
Read 1 Cor 5:1-8. The Corinthian church had not dealt with some sexual immorality issues, and when Paul heard about it, he rebuked them for being "puffed up" instead of mourning their permissive attitudes and seeking repentance.
"Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." 1 Cor 5:6-8
You don't understand all "shadows" entail. Sabbath is a shadow of the millen. rest in Messiah but isn't abolished-Heb 4:9. Corinth was keeping the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Paul used the Corinthians obedience in keeping the feast physically removing leaven from homes to encourage celebrating feast w/proper understanding-spiritual intent. 2day removing leaven from our homes for 7days reminds us that we thru prayer & Yah's help must recognize, expel & avoid sin-time of personal reflection.
The Church at Corinth had problem with sexual immorality and sinful attitudes. Paul was not saying as a solution "let's keep the Days of Unleavened Bread"!
Paul was pointing to remove the leaven, the SIN, from their lives when he said:
"Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us." vs 7
This is how they were to keep the feast, with the unleavened bread of "sincerity and truth". vs 8
My friend, I do not think you are understanding Him. We keep the Days of Unleavened Bread now by throwing off all leaven--all wickedness and unrighteousness in our lives, instead giving ourselves over to His Spirit of sincerity and truth. This is done by His Holy Spirit in us.
It is the same way we keep circumcision: "but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God." Rom 2:29
Oh but the Israelites still have to be circumcised physically & spiritually. You're talking apples & oranges. Some people say they keep the 7th day Sabbath spiritually now by resting in Messiah. Nope, doesn't work that way. We must keep all Yah's Sabbaths physically & spiritually. Is Zech 14:16-19 referring to keeping that feast spiritually? See what your punishment will be if you try that excuse in the millenium Kingdom. All observes of Sabbaths have appointed times/seasons.
Paul says circumcision now is in the heart, in the Spirit, NOT in the letter. Paul's point is that we need circumcised hearts, that was what the law of circumcision was pointing to!
As for the Feast of Tabernacles, do you know why it is the only one mentioned when referencing the new earth? What was the meaning of the Feast of Tabernacles? What did it picture? When you have those answers, you will understand why Zachariah references it.
According to YOUR argument-Messiah's death abolished & fulfulled all "pictures" Zecchariah a prophetical book should NOT be picturing anything future. But it does. Originally there weren't sacrifices- meat, drink ordinances- held on Feast days. See Jer7:22-23.These days weren't instituted for purpose of sacrifices but are MEMORIALS. Sacrifices, meat & drink offerings were later instituted on the holy days & also on weekly Sabbath Num 28:9. See Acts 20:6;Acts12:3-4; 1Cor 16:8; Acts 20:16
Paul taught that the feasts, indeed ALL the sacrificial system was fulfilled in Christ (Col 2:14-17, Eph 2:15, Gal 3:13, 24). Yet Paul showed strong desire to go to Jerusalem to keep some Lev 23 feasts. Why? Did Paul teach that these OT shadows were important for Christians to observe? Nowhere in scripture. So why did Paul the EVANGELIST go to Jerusalem, or anywhere there was feast, a large gathering?
Even though he was the apostle to the Gentiles, Paul had a special burden for his fellow countrymen to hear the Gospel. Rom 10:1-4 This is why he and his team went and kept some feasts, to have perfect opportunity to preach the Gospel.
Romans 10:1-4 is not connected to why Paul said he was going to KEEP the Feast in Jerusalem. These are dif't statements & situations at different times. Notice in Col 2:14-17, a letter written DECADES "after" Messiah's death, that the Holy Days & Sabbaths ARE "shadows" (outlines) of things TO COME (future tense). If already abolished AT Messiah's death he would have said they "were" shadows of things that have come. Paul was saying these ARE shadows of things that are to still come not, future
You are truly right my brother, God bless you for sharing this with others... thats what everyone of us should be doing to speed up Jesus second coming!

Nirky 6 months ago 3
@carlsmithey
Mat 28:1.
Nirky 6 months ago 2
@carlsmithey
God bless.
Nirky 6 months ago 2

God bless
stevebnns 9 months ago
The 7th day Sabbath and the 7 annual Sabbaths are to be as an everlasting commandment. Which were being followed far long before Moses came along. The Apostles all kept God's Annual Sabbaths. Paul warned that there were already those who were already following false doctrines The Catholic church followed them also up to 325 AD. The Nicaea council of 325 brought in new ideas to their doctrines but from an old religion called Paganism. Sunday, Easter Christmas all began in Christianity in 325 AD
stevebnns 9 months ago
you messed this interpretation up....Paul meant all sabbath days....reject false apostle paul!!!!!
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky You guys are twisting what he's saying....he never says anything about 'annual' sabbath....he meant all abbath days...paul is a false prophet, wake up!!! research it....

Annual new moon meat & drink shadow sabbaths...all picturing deliverance from sin which real substance we have now in Christ.
Do you observe these ordinances? I'm thinking that is the real basis for rejecting God's clear word...
Nirky 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky You seem to research things very diligently. Could you please ease my 'confusion'. The question is, did the jews use the julian calendar or their own calendar? The jews didn't switch from their lunar calendar until the reign of Constantius which outlawed calculation of the original calendar. Saturday nor sunday is not the sabbath.You have to go off of the original calculations. REFERENCE: The Jewish Encyclopedia, "Calendar." & Universal Jewish Encyclopedia, Vol. X, "Week," p. 482
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky The US naval observatory does not mention whether or not the jewish calendar 7 day cycle has been broken. I'm talking about the original jewish calendar, not the one that was made after romans put pressure on them to refrain from using their original calendar...
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
The Observatory CAN tell if even ONE DAY has been added or forgotten all the way back through Jesus' time and beyond...not even ONE DAY has been changed. God is faithful, even if we aren't!
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky again, the naval observatory does not take into account the original jewish calendar.....
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Again, any calendar has nothing to do with a seven day cycle. You can rename any day or call it any number, if any day was missing or added, we can tell...by observing the heavens. THEY tell us the 7 day cycle has NEVER been broken. The reason is clear.
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky well, if you look up the hebrew word for month it will tell you when a new month is. Khodesh = new moon (new month), new moon is the first rest day in the month, by it you base all other sabbaths, the answer is in the scriptures on how the sabbath is meant to be kept...the calendar you use does matter.
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
No change.
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky well, his true calendar is preserved in his perfect hebrew language...khodesh = new moon, new month....you have the free will to ignore the signs if you want....
"And it shall come to pass, that from one NEW MOON to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."
(Isa 66:23)
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky Well, we're never going to come to an agreement on this. The proof is in the language if you ask me. Khodesh=new moon/month <--the months, therefore the calendar should surround this....I agree to disagree....
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Try it.
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky this sacred 7 day cycle was broken by god himself with some of the festivals falling in the middle of a week....god can't sin so the breaking of the 7 day cycle is irrelevant

feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Paul doesn't say to forget new moons, he says the annual new moon meat & drink ceremonial sabbath ORDINANCES were SHADOWS of the good things to come, which substance we now have, Christ!
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky no, you say he says annual, that's not in the book. That's your private interpretation. As far as Paul's argument that because it's a shadow of things to come, this contradicts Peter's statement that says baptisms save us. Baptisms are also a shadow of things to come. The reason why Paul contradicts Peter is because he's a false prophet.
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky Look, no one knows who wrote the book of Hebrews and Paul is a heretic....straight from the creator's mouth I have this: "And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD."...the creator highly esteems the new moon and sabbath...why don't you? ....because Paul told you so, you follow the creation over the creator
(Isa 66:23)

Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky look, things were originally done one way, then they were changed. You believe this change is meaningless, I don't. I believe this was done by satan himself. The 7 day cycle is irrelevant because the creator breaks it himself when he asigns rest days in the middle of a week. Satan will "think to change times and laws" (Dan 7:25)...that sounds like paul to me
feliztx 9 months ago
@Nirky 6 days shall thy work, 7th day rest, if a rest happens on the 3rd work day, this breaks the sacred 7 day week
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx
Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky again, we're not getting anywhere....I agree to disagree....all we can do now is go with Rev 22:11 which says "He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still."
feliztx 9 months ago
@feliztx

Nirky 9 months ago
@Nirky you say that you have to work 7 days and then rest, what I'm saying is that some of the sabbaths the creator proposed would cause someone to work 3 days and then rest...only reason why I brought this up is because you said that the lunar calendar is bad because eventually the 7 work week would get disrupted....but god disrupts his own work day week with the sabbaths

@Nirky you're going off of present day understanding, new moon was when the moon first appeared in the sky after it 'disappeared'...this is when the jews new it was a new month....the current calendar is not alligned with the creators infallible moon cycle, therefore, the true sabbath isn't being followed
feliztx 9 months ago
@Nirky Also, to me Isa 66:23 says it all, per the creator speaking, the new moons are tied to the sabbaths

By keeping the laws that the jews kept in attempt to get them to hear him in the doctrine he taught.
performancetour 1 year ago
@performancetour
Nirky 1 year ago
@performancetour
God bless.

According to the Sabbath day teaching you would be sinning not to work on monday or say thursday. Im confused, please explain this away.
jerryjamify 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
You asked "What does the Sabbath represent?"
Genesis 1.
Nirky 1 year ago
@Nirky Im thinking that, God showing that he rested after the work of creation is used a symbol of the work christ did on the cross. he finished his work and gives us true rest and salvation.
jerryjamify 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
A day to focus on Jesus, taking delight in thinking of & doing His ways. Isa 58:13-14. Any important relationship requires quality time together. We ought to worship Him always, every day, but Jesus set aside this day of holy time for all who in faith would obey His 4th commandment.
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
This is the spiritual rest Jesus tells us He gives us in Matt 11:28. Jesus says:
"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matt 11:28
What are we heavy laden with? Sin. See Isa 1:4, 2 Tim 3:6.
Nirky 1 year ago
@Nirky , I'm thinking that the good news Jesus brought us is that we are saved by grace there is no works involved, but good works are a testimony to your knowledge that you are in fact saved. Otherwise you'll find yourself working out your salvation. Paul taught a lot on the subject of grace and works.
jerryjamify 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify
So since we are saved by grace, the basis of His righteousness and not our own, does that mean that we can now wilfully sin--transgress His commandments (1 Jn 3:4)--and His grace will still cover us?
Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify

Nirky 1 year ago
@jerryjamify

@jerryjamify
Nirky 1 year ago
@Nirky, so its not really by the power of God through grace but we have to be smart enough to know we should keep the ten commandments to be saved, so it really is through works and our wisdom then OK. the knowledge of good and evil?

What does the Sabbath day of the week represent? Why was physical rest command?and since rest of one day of the week was commanded doesn't that make by default work being commanded for 6days, for it says six days is just as binding, you shall do all thy labors but on the sabbath you shall rest? I think your missing something important. what does work and rest have to do with the prophecy of the coming Christ? and was that rest and labor fulfilled in Christ?
jerryjamify 1 year ago
but on the sabbath day of the the week I must say I do not fully agree, I use to keep the Sabbath but after some better understanding I now dont keep any day, but understand for a son the christ was our sabbath,come to me all who are heavy ladden and I will give you rest, true rest, and true worship, he is the true rest. ever wonder why the word forever is not in the strong's concordance?
jerryjamify 1 year ago
That's true, nobody is justified and therefore saved by what they do, because we have all sinned, broken His spiritual law, therefore we all fall short of His glory. Rom 3:23. We NEED Jesus' righteousness credited to us. That is JUSTIFICATION. Rom 6:4, Gal 2:16.
However, saved by only His grace (Eph 2:8), we cannot willfully break His law, sin (1 John 3:4), and still claim His grace. See also Romans 6:1-4.
Jesus says "If you love Me, keep My commandments." John 14:15
Nirky 1 year ago
There is no salvation in keeping the Law. The first Christians were Jews who met together on the first day of the week because, as Jews they observed the Sabbath. Why stop at the 10 commandments if God's instruction to the Hebrews was eventually law for a mankin?. The law served it's purpose in showing that no man could keep it. And in breaking one you break them all.

Looking forward to your answer... cheers!

I apologize for not posting sooner.
Nirky 1 year ago
The feast of Tabernacles was God's final annual feast day. Israelites offered sacrifices, drink offerings, and both burnt & grain offerings, and dwelt in booths for 7 days to commemerate God delivering them from the bondage of Egypt. Lev 23:43. Egypt also represents sin, see Ezek 30:15-16.
So why did God want them to dwell in tents? What does that have to do with the New Earth?
Nirky 1 year ago
"By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God." Heb 11:8-10
and
Nirky 1 year ago
"These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them, embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland." Heb 11:13-14
Nirky 1 year ago
The New Heavens and New Earth is the fulfillment, the anti-type, of the feast of Tabernacles! All who have faith in Christ look forward to where they truly belong, His heavenly country. They dwelt in tents confessing they were only pilgrims and sojourners, the looked forward by faith to their eternal reward! When Zechariah says the redeemed will keep the feast of Tabernacles, he meant it, because they will LIVE it! The New Heavens and New Earth is the fulfillment of Israel dwelling in tents.
Nirky 1 year ago
So as the feast of Tabernacles is a symbol here for the New Heavens and New Earth, what does Zechariah symbolically mean when he says those who do not come up to worship will not receive any rain, but will receive plagues? Zech 14:17-19 Does the Revelation say the wicked will be scorched and will receive plagues prior to His second coming?
Nirky 1 year ago
Also, God declares He will make an utter end of sin, sin will NOT rise again. Nahum 1:9 There will be no more hurt, or pain, or destruction, none at all! Isa 11:9, 65:25 Only righteousness will dwell within. 2 Pet 3:13. If we interpret Zech 14 to say that there will be disobedient sinners among the redeemed, we make God out to be an absolute LIAR! Let us listen to Him and believe. He says sin will NOT rise again! Zech 14 tells the disobedient will not enter in, but will perish beforehand!
Nirky 1 year ago
Actually, FoT does not represent the New Heaven/Earth. The very meaning of Tabernacle (tent) means its suppose to be temporary. The better question to ask rather than trying to prove these feasts are no longer needed to be observe is what do these feast represent to God's plan for salvation.
You see we must consider all counts especially the sequence of events leading up to the New Heavens/Earth.
First to consider is, the 1K years gap between the 1st resurrection and 2nd resurrection....
vidextreme 1 year ago
To take Zech 14 literally goes against all of God's clear teachings about sin being utterly done away with. Nah 1:9, Isa 11:9, 65:25, 2 Pet 3:13 Whole nations of the redeemed will not be in rebellion!
Tabernacles was the faithful dwelling in tents, looking forward to the coming heavenly country. Heb 11:8-10, 13-14 Zech 14 pictures the fulfillment of Tabernacles, the faithful receiving their reward in Christ, which is salvation in Him and eternal life in a restored, perfect and sinless world!
Nirky 1 year ago
When Paul says let no one judge you in Col 2, it is because we know the real substance is Christ, which we now have, the use for those shadows is PAST.
To those who insist that we observe shadows, I would ask what do those shadow days add to us, now that we have Jesus and His perfect sacrifice for our sins, His Holy Spirit to guide us in His will, and Revelation, which gives us specifics and details about how God will work out His plan of salvation?
Nirky 1 year ago
Col 2, Paul wasn't proving if these feast, Sabbaths should still be kept, but their attitude about others on how they keep these days. He pointed out, they should not be bickering about HOW they keep these as they shadow a bigger meaning.
The word 'shadow' there does not mean PAST, as it said so plainly, "a shadow of things to come"(verse17). Rather these Sabbaths and/or Annual Holy Days REPRESENTS coming events which Christians should be studying the significance while celebrating these days.

Examples of Disciples keeping Feasts AFTER Messiah's death Acts 20:16- Pentecost/Shavuot (Feast of Weeks/Firstfruits), Acts 2:1, Acts 18:21, Acts 27:9 (Fast=Feast of Atonement), 1 Cor. 5:8 Future prophecy Zecchariah 14:16-19
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
Those feast days were called "shadows", they represented the coming fulfillment in Christ!
For example, the Days of Unleavened Bread consisted of abstaining from regular leavened 'puffy' bread for 7 days and instead eating unleavened, non-puffy bread. Leaven, which puffed up, represented sin. Gal 5:9, Lk 12:1, 1 Cor 5:6
The Days of Unleavened Bread was a shadow representing His perfect sacrifice, it pictured the sacrifice of His sinless life so that we can be reconciled to the Father!
Nirky 2 years ago
Read 1 Cor 5:1-8. The Corinthian church had not dealt with some sexual immorality issues, and when Paul heard about it, he rebuked them for being "puffed up" instead of mourning their permissive attitudes and seeking repentance.
Nirky 2 years ago
Paul said:
"Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us.
Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." 1 Cor 5:6-8
Nirky 2 years ago
You don't understand all "shadows" entail. Sabbath is a shadow of the millen. rest in Messiah but isn't abolished-Heb 4:9. Corinth was keeping the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Paul used the Corinthians obedience in keeping the feast physically removing leaven from homes to encourage celebrating feast w/proper understanding-spiritual intent. 2day removing leaven from our homes for 7days reminds us that we thru prayer & Yah's help must recognize, expel & avoid sin-time of personal reflection.
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
The Church at Corinth had problem with sexual immorality and sinful attitudes. Paul was not saying as a solution "let's keep the Days of Unleavened Bread"!
Paul was pointing to remove the leaven, the SIN, from their lives when he said:
"Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed for us." vs 7
This is how they were to keep the feast, with the unleavened bread of "sincerity and truth". vs 8
Nirky 2 years ago
He was not saying it as a solution but they were keeping the Feast & he was telling them how to spiritually, as well as physically!
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
My friend, I do not think you are understanding Him. We keep the Days of Unleavened Bread now by throwing off all leaven--all wickedness and unrighteousness in our lives, instead giving ourselves over to His Spirit of sincerity and truth. This is done by His Holy Spirit in us.
It is the same way we keep circumcision: "but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God." Rom 2:29
Nirky 2 years ago
Oh but the Israelites still have to be circumcised physically & spiritually. You're talking apples & oranges. Some people say they keep the 7th day Sabbath spiritually now by resting in Messiah. Nope, doesn't work that way. We must keep all Yah's Sabbaths physically & spiritually. Is Zech 14:16-19 referring to keeping that feast spiritually? See what your punishment will be if you try that excuse in the millenium Kingdom. All observes of Sabbaths have appointed times/seasons.
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
Paul says circumcision now is in the heart, in the Spirit, NOT in the letter. Paul's point is that we need circumcised hearts, that was what the law of circumcision was pointing to!
As for the Feast of Tabernacles, do you know why it is the only one mentioned when referencing the new earth? What was the meaning of the Feast of Tabernacles? What did it picture? When you have those answers, you will understand why Zachariah references it.
Nirky 2 years ago
Oops, Zechariah. :)
Nirky 2 years ago
Kanaiyah777 2 years ago
Paul taught that the feasts, indeed ALL the sacrificial system was fulfilled in Christ (Col 2:14-17, Eph 2:15, Gal 3:13, 24). Yet Paul showed strong desire to go to Jerusalem to keep some Lev 23 feasts. Why? Did Paul teach that these OT shadows were important for Christians to observe? Nowhere in scripture. So why did Paul the EVANGELIST go to Jerusalem, or anywhere there was feast, a large gathering?
Nirky 2 years ago
Even though he was the apostle to the Gentiles, Paul had a special burden for his fellow countrymen to hear the Gospel. Rom 10:1-4 This is why he and his team went and kept some feasts, to have perfect opportunity to preach the Gospel.
Nirky 2 years ago
Romans 10:1-4 is not connected to why Paul said he was going to KEEP the Feast in Jerusalem. These are dif't statements & situations at different times. Notice in Col 2:14-17, a letter written DECADES "after" Messiah's death, that the Holy Days & Sabbaths ARE "shadows" (outlines) of things TO COME (future tense). If already abolished AT Messiah's death he would have said they "were" shadows of things that have come. Paul was saying these ARE shadows of things that are to still come not, future
