  • thanks i will sub for you

  • How do you graph a vertex?

    With no y values..

  • HOW TO GRAPH A SINGLE POINT?

  • @10shayle In the books I have used, anytime you are asked to plot a single point, the graph has a point at the origin that you can click & drag or use the arrow keys to move.

  • @georgewoodbury

Is that an old version or something ?

I have been trying to figure out a way to draw a vertex line though a parabola for 2 hours now :(

The program will just not let me do it.

  • @xxmichixxVIDEOS Is the problem asking you to draw the axis of symmetry ("vertex line") on the parabola? I have not seen that before, but you'd begin with the parabola tool. Plot a point at the vertex, and a second point anywhere on the graph. (The y-intercept is a good choice for a second point.) Then you can select the line tool, and plot a vertical line through the vertex. (You may want to make that a dashed line by selecting the "dashed" option before graphing the line.)

  • @georgewoodbury Sorry Ive ben struggling for 3 hours and am all over the place :)

This is what Ive been doing, but the line tool has two points. Where should I put the second point?

Nothing seems to work. And it will NOT let you put the two points at the same place.

  • @xxmichixxVIDEOS If you are still having trouble, leave me a comment with the exact wording of the problem, and I'll try to help you out.

  • @georgewoodbury

I hope you meant of the math problem. Here it comes.

Sketch the graph of the quadratic function and the axis of symmetry. State the vertex, and give the equation for the axis of symmetry.

    f(x)= 4(x -6)^2 + 1

It's not a very difficult question, but the graphing just will not work.

  • @xxmichixxVIDEOS OK, so the vertex is (6,1). When you use the line tool, you can put the first point on the vertex. For the second point, pick any point directly above (or below) the vertex, like (6,2) That should do it.

Again - I'm not sure if it needs to be dashed (probably) or not.

    Hi!

Ive been struggling with this for 3 hours, I have tried putting the second line pretty much everywhere. It does not work for me. I will try to switch to another browser and try again :(

  • @georgewoodbury

Hello , Ive tried this. On different browsers. Still does not work :)

  • Thank you !!!! UOP AXIA student!!!

  • That is nice, very helpful.
