Have seen REK many times and two weeks ago finally got to see him do this live as well as other old favorites; Copenhagen, Wolf & Bear. As usual, he was great.
I am a fan of REK but rarely hear this song so this is a great video for me. It is amazing outside of Texas how many people have never heard of REK until you mention Merry Xmas. Best unknown country singer around!!
I was at A&M the same time as REK and Lyle Lovett. They used to play by Rudder Fountain. Knew then they'd make it big. This was in the mid late 70's/early 80's.
@bholbert24 I saw REK at a few "pickin' porch" parties, but Lyle was always playing gis out of town on weekends. Sure do miss the Cow Hop, Dudley's Draw and Ken Martin's Steak house for chicken-fried steaks. They're hard to find outside of Texas.
Who the hell is that kid playing a REK song?

Look at how young Jerry Jeff and REK were. Wow! We're all old, ...especially if you knew all the words.

Great performer!
Love his voice - he sounds a bit like Dylan.
thank you, for the video.

This sounds a lot like Dylan's "Shelter from the Storm." Both great songs.

REK is the best. I've seen him live several times, and he never once played this tune. Look how young he is!
