Well, theres not really a certain way to do it. Every editor has their own style, as well as material they like to use.

Basically, its just find clips, pair them to music, add effects and always pay attention to the beat and lyrics. Its all about creativity. Try it out yourself, you'll find your way.

However, if its like actual things like how to work with Sony Vegas effects/etc. then just search youtube you'll find tut.s for everything! ^-^

Your timing and editing is abosultely brillant. You have a great sense of story telling and humor that really comes out in this video. And your choice of effects to couple it all together was superb!

There are a lot of amv makers who either do too little with effects or go really big but I think yours had an amazing balance to it. I'm sure the project as a whole was a huge labor of love & fandom and I say kudos.
