Dark Dawn disappointed me. If I start playing the 2 original GS games, I can't stop playing until I achieve everything in the game. But with Dark Dawn, I couldn't even finish it. : \

@ZeratheWolf Welcome to the club :D Be sure to check out "Boltage" Mcgammar's Golden Sun Lets play, he did one for GS1 and 2 and I am pretty sure he plans on doing it for the newer 3 as well. GS is a masterpiece of artwork, music and plotline.
The only thing I could complain about this game is the plot for the antagonists..I would of really liked playing as Saturos or Alex, but ah well, all games cannot be perfect, but THIS ONE came CLOSE to perfect ^^ As I am sure you noticed. ^^
@SPS148669 The GBA DOES have a DSP. In fact, one better than the SNES. The reason that the GBA can do all of these things is because it has a higher channel count, higher bitlength for samples, and supports a huge range of DPCM samples.
All of the instruments were encoded as DPCM samples.
The Main ARM7 on GBA rendered the sound in software like the N64. You must be thinking of the DS. The DS got a "fixed" DSP tacked on to the ARM7 that supported 16 channels (8 more than SNES) and compressed/uncompressed samples like SNES. The 3DS replaced the "fixed" 16 voice DSP in the original DS when a 134mhz completely programmable DSP when the number of channels is limited by the software running on it. 3DS does an average of 32 -100 voices.Resident Evil 3DS shows it off,

That day I learned several things: 1) Pink is now awesome, 2) Motoi Sakuraba is AMAZING (composer) and 3) I NEEDED THIS GAME. It is to this day my favorite ever.
The whole game has this incredibly sense of mystery and wonder. It's something found only in a few things. A painting here, a piece of music there. It's like looking up at the stars into the eternity of the universe and being at amazed at how something so vast and awesome could exist.

@Luxferre7 I used to want someone to make a Golden Sun movie or anime, but it would completely suck in comparison to the game. Just like how movies made from books mostly suck... I don't think anyone can fully capture the genius that is Golden Sun!
It's hard to believe that you hear a theme like this just, what? 10-20 mins into the game?
@Luxferre7 I won't hope for a movie, unless it's a movie that has the concepts of the games included but no characters or other data remade. If the movie were to be about Golden Sun (1) from another party of adepts' perspective, I would totally be on board. It's just that movie versions of things that weren't movies tend to destroy the mysticism and wonder that was in the original version of whatever it was. The game is to me better than any movie ever made.
@TRLahti I'd be okay with that. Anime tends to deviate from the media that it takes from (if there's something before whatever anime it is), but I've been okay with it since childhood. The reason is this: Seeing something you love put into a media you love creates a special bond: you stop caring about the errors that happen and just enjoy what is there. At least that's what I do. Prime example: Megaman NT Warrior. Didn't follow the games very much at all, but I liked it anyway.

There were some awesome soundtracks for some bloody rad GBA games, but they ended up totally butchered because of the GBA's crummy soundcard. I mean, listen to this: it's fantastic. It's gorgeous.

1 of the best songs in GS i think, from the more slow songs, that this is most beautiful, next Venus Lighthouse, Juppiter Lighthouse, next Garoh, Other (faster) songs, 1 Golden Sun Rises, 2 Second Overworld Theme of GS2, 3 Saturnos Battle Theme 4 Boat Battle Theme All other songs are also very beautiful, dont take me wrong0

For me Golden Sun is of the best games of all time. A fantastic RPG. I couldn't believe the graphics and the quality of the music on the Game Boy Advance. I would love to hear this song played live. When I think of this song, I always think of a drop of water trickling down a leaf up in the mountains, landing on a rock by some plants. It runs down their tops, through crevices, under the shade, merging with other drops. Eventually it is a rivulet wandering through the dirt into a small stream down the mountain, where it meanders into a flowing river. At 1:15, it is a churning river that passes waterfalls, nourishing animals and plants. Then it resets at 1:32 to the trickling water drops.
some of the worst songs from the golden sun games? taopopo swamp, suhalla range, lamakan desert, mercury lighthouse before it had been lit, the first battle theme from GS1, saturos' battle theme, boss battle theme, magma rock. its all up to personal taste of course but those are some of the themes that i cou;dn't stand to listen too.
taopopo swamp was pretty good because it suited the environment, shuallah sucked (the same as mercury), isaacs battle theme kicked ass, boss was too wild but it suited the boss, magma rock was pretty cool and saturos' battle theme kicked ass aswell!
but everyone has his own taste of music, but i do agree that the songs with the "mean" notes were pretty ruined. but still, golden sun, pure epicness
And that's why I hate E3 because it gets announced so you scream woohoo and then the date is announced and then you are waiting anxiously for like a whole year

hehe, well i've read somewhere that one would be made for the 3DS and since the end of dark dawn had a somewhat open ending, it's possible that a 4th game could be made. I just hope it's difficult, with puzzles that aren't a joke and boss fights you can actually lose if you do something wrong.
@sshiftyp It was a good game and all... but it just kinda... ended too fast for me. It didn't have all the cool stuff like the first one or the completely open world map like the second. It was decent, but thats it. I just hope they make the next one like the first too is all...

Still, the DPCM method was used for the GBA, even if ARM did handle it all, enabling the use of instruments like the ones used here.

Golden Sun Dark Dawn is simply amazing. Granted I haven't beat it yet, it is as good as its precursors.

some of the worst songs from the golden sun games? taopopo swamp, suhalla range, lamakan desert, mercury lighthouse before it had been lit, the first battle theme from GS1, saturos' battle theme, boss battle theme, magma rock. its all up to personal taste of course but those are some of the themes that i cou;dn't stand to listen too.

taopopo swamp was pretty good because it suited the environment, shuallah sucked (the same as mercury), isaacs battle theme kicked ass, boss was too wild but it suited the boss, magma rock was pretty cool and saturos' battle theme kicked ass aswell!
but everyone has his own taste of music, but i do agree that the songs with the "mean" notes were pretty ruined. but still, golden sun, pure epicness

If i listen to this song a tear always runs down my cheek it's so beautiful if i'm stressed or mad or something and i put this song up it always makes me calm down and think straight again. Beautiful. 5/5 :D

YES, i have golden sun dark dawn (3) for my DS and have already reached the end f the game.
My opinion: the graphics are better ofc. HOWEVER the story of golden sun the lost age remains THE BEST.
What i didn't like: the battles and bosses are too easy, the only one i haven't gotten to yet is dullahan, i hope he puts up a better fight
What i also didn't like: you can only explore a part of the world, almost the same as the first

hehe, well i've read somewhere that one would be made for the 3DS and since the end of dark dawn had a somewhat open ending, it's possible that a 4th game could be made. I just hope it's difficult, with puzzles that aren't a joke and boss fights you can actually lose if you do something wrong.

@sshiftyp It was a good game and all... but it just kinda... ended too fast for me. It didn't have all the cool stuff like the first one or the completely open world map like the second. It was decent, but thats it. I just hope they make the next one like the first too is all...
