@mdognirvana ha? age of empire is war strategy, so there you only build for war, you will recognise that building type in AOE never change from AOE 1 to 3, just barrack, archery, armory, town center. The Settlers are far beyond that, we can have interaction with the settlers, make them satisfy, whole life activity. War in the settlers just a small part of the game. Yes 1st rts game i played is AOE but i realize that is massacre game.Then i found lovely The Settlers show me otherwise than killing

This game is beautiful! Already completed it 2 times and it's still amazing. It's the best economy RTS i played so far.

You can win by army, economy, science or discovering new routes. Every inteligent player can own with his personal game style.

The 5th and 6th Settlers game wasn't good, I think, it didn't feel like Settlers. But the remake of the 2nd and then this, Settlers 7, feels more like Settlers. (my opinion)

Where are the little fat fellows you turn into soldiers...man, I used to play settlers IV 5h a day, but when part V came out...IT WAS TOTALLY DISAPPOINTMENT, THEN VI & PART 7, fuck, it sucks, I see no difference between other strategies...the game was totally unique and every its element, until part 5...they did succeed to ruin its conception!!!

Settlers 4 is the best of all settlers games, 1-3 are stupid because you cant move your own troops, and 5-7 are to complicated. 4 was perfect.

I would go for a 5570 low profile. It would be like five time faster than the HD2000. You would still need to pay very close attention to your settings though.

Definately a RTS game I have enjoyed. Based on city building more than combat. Has some nice variety in tactics you can use to win a match.

If you like RTS with a quick pace I recommend you skip this one, but if you enjoy watching your citizens following your orders and building up a city you will enjoy this like me :)

Settlers II will always be the best settlers game, I still play it. and its avalible for Network / Internet games too. for now, its lots of bugs (but new patches are still coming out) but its playable and lots of fun beating up your friends or just co-op against the AI. :)

...and @lol112xx its nothing like Age of Empires. You see, Age of Empires is combat based, this is more based on building and resource management. Age of Empires 1 had mediocre reviews.

Your capture software doesn't seem to want to let distant trees in, but you know them. Trees can be pretty stubborn, don't get pushed around easy.

@lol112xx It's kind of like age of empires, it's really a great game so fu and there's loads of expansions to buy online :) Only problem is it has a lot of bugs that need fixing and it crashes when it runs out of memory so you have to tone down the detail a lot in later levels.

@lol112xx I think the Age of Empires series, the Anno games and the Settlers series are three different kind of strategy games. While in AoE you have the opportunity both researching technologies and building the economy, you have direct control over the units. In Settlers the most enhanced mechanism is the management of production chains and the distribution of goods, meanwhile you research and send merhant expeditions. You don't have direct control over your forces in combat.

@Solitude075 Let me put it this way, If you want anything other than pretty graphics don't buy it, as pretty graphics is the only good thing about it. There is absolutely no challenge at all ... it is not even a semblance of a real RTS game. City building and infrastructure is mind numbingly simple and just poorly conceived. Placing buildings is linear and awkward, maps are tiny, but possibly the worst aspect is Combat, it's just ridiculous, the mechanics behind it are flawed and it's simply -

When I build streets, when I drag the mouse they are really hard to see, not like in this video. Does anyone know why? I have all graphics at maximum setting and everything turned on, and there are no other graphical issues or slow downs

Are you using your monitor's native resolution and if yes, what is its resolution? Are your contrast/brightness volumes correctly set?

@toutagamon My mointor is 1920x1080 and the game is set to that, and contras and brightness is all good, it's fine for any other game and everything else within Settlers. The streets appear as the same colour as in your video but all speckled rather than a solid line, then when built they go back to normal. It's not much of an issue it's just at first I could barely tell I was building a street because I couldn't see it
