i run half marathons and will run my first full marathon this april. After that I want to move to triathlon, and ultimately ironman. Do you train by directly breaking your time 1/3 spent biking 1/3 spent swimming 1/3 running? how can I make a strong transition to tri?
@palmerleggings Hi there.. If you ultimately goal is Ironman, you're going to have to spend a lot of time on the bike as although you will be cardiovascularly fit you will need to build the bike-specific strength to ride long.
For time efficiency investing in a turbo-trainer (or wind-trainer as they call them in the US) is a good idea.
As a beginner, don't waste money on top-end bikes - just make sure the one you have fits you by getting a bike fit done (e.g Retul).. Training consistency ...
@palmerleggings is key. Look at the distances in Tri - less time is spent in the water so less hours are spent in the pool unless UR a weak swimmer, in which case devote off season time to get technique looked at and swim 3-5 times a week. Speed(Threshold)/AerobicEndurance and Strength. Join a local Tri club to get further pointers. As u r already a runner this is likely2B your strength.Spend time building up bike/swim strength&endurance Running off the bike is important too-as it is v.different
Bicycle Richmond kindly provided me with A Cannondale frame to use in my early season races. However, financial difficulties meant that their sponsorship was withdrawn and the bike returned, hence I no longer race on a Cannondale.
My first triathlon is in may. This video gets me pumped up! Thanks.

Yes, life of the wannabe "pro" .... all the running shoes you can eat. But, if you have the passion, you have to give it a go.
