i never thought of, doing what your doing,i always thought you had to connect your camera to your computer, open EOS utility, and get a app for the ipad to connect to your computer via a wireless network.
@ethanr432 The X2 card work with Eye-Fi now IF you use specific adaptor - @Kinematic Digit, you can just use at exacto knife to remove the metal plates (just make sure to avoid static electricity e.g. carpets to avoid frying the card)
I have the 5DmkII + Delock CF/SD adapter + EYE-FI X2 PRO card. I also removed the metal plates to extend the range. Works fine.
It sux that you have to use the old EYE FI card that they hardly sell anywhere. WTF... your totally right.. the ipad is in a jail and canon wants you to buy there $ 900 adapter.
Neat idea, but way too slow. There are iPad apps out there that you can use to wirelessly tether without jailbreaking. And you can control the camera from the iPad too.
Your link for the eye-fi card takes you to the Eye-Fi 4GB Explore Video Memory Card (EYE-FI-4EV) version. Is this what you used in the video or will only the eye-fi pro version work?
@1markhaworth I used the eye fi pro card, they changed the product I linked to. I don't know if that one will work or not as I have only used the pro card.
Even though you bought the older version Eye Fi, why not buy the pro version so you can transfer Raw files? Is the one you bought the only one that will work with the CF ?
I have a 40D and I purchased an 8GB Pro x2 just to find out it does not work. I like the transfer RAW option. I’m actually shocked that you wouldn’t want to shoot RAW....with the cameras you own I would figure you were at least an amateur photographer which would choose Raw over jpeg.
@madman4you I always shoot RAW. I am just using the Ipad as a viewing device. Mainly to let others see what I am shooting, and provide comment or direction to what they would like to see. So on camera settings, I am saving a RAW file to card, and transmitting a small JPEG to the Ipad. I have only tested that Eye Fi card, but was told it was the only one that would work.
IF ANYONE IS STILL LOOKING FOR THE CARD.

Here's a detailed writeup I made on how to tether the 5d mark II using the eye-fi x2 card. no jailbreak required.

Does you get good range when shooting at a distance?
I also notice it had some delay when exporting the first time.
Thanks for the tutorial.

Hello Thx for the Video.
Could you please post the type of Eyefi card?
I can only find the X2 versions...
thx

@marckruse It is the Eyefi Pro, not the X2 version. I haven't tested the X2 but from what I have read it will not work with the Canon.
