I guess you already know this but Windows 7 is brand for 7th major home consumer release of Windows operating system (which it actually isn't. It's 8th, lol). It's operating system called Windows NT 6.1. Similarly Vista is brand name for operating system called Windows NT 6.0. It's a bit like with Mac OS X which is not an operating system. It's a branding for distribution made out of Darwin BSD operating system. :)

Oh, and for the record. I am Gnu/Linux user (too). :P

Blue screen errors are usually hardware issues. You can't blame vista on that one. And yes Win 7 is my all time favorite OS EVER. I use os x at work in the graphic design field, an honestly between osx and vista, I don't really see one being better than the other, but win 7 blows them both away. I use it at home and love it.

because apple doesnt use a blue screen. it darkens your screen and puts up a grey box with white lettering in 5 languages telling you there's a critical problem and you must shut down your computer, and at that point there's nothing you can do except shut down. I've seen this half a dozen times on 3 or 4 of our machines at the office in the past year. IMO apple is hypocritical. "it just works" my ass. their systems are no better than any well kept pc.

First, i had a vista for 5 years, then tried a mac for 3, then windows 7 for 2 months. Vista SUCKS, Window 7 PWNS, Mac is good for school.

listen, i dont have to do ANY TESTS! When I first got my Athlon XP PC it ran HEAPS fast, when ever I click on something it would respond straightway. It was ONLY when I installed anti virus being when things got slowed down. You have to remember that it goes without saying that your system wont run at 100% if you have anti virus apps running in the background because it WILL take resources regardless of what anti virus that you use..

ive used leopard quite a few times and for quite a while at times...(sister and brother-in-law have a mac each)its nice and all but not for me and i did learn to use it...have stuck with xp all my life though and have tried vista...i have to say that this windows 7 which im using right now is in fact real nice, fast, and user friendly...being in a beta stage i can only wait for the final version...

Unfortunately you got a couple of blue screens and deemed the OS as crap. You are entitled to your opinion... OS X is not perfect by any means. Many said that Leopard was released before it was ready - if you don't believe me, just Goole OS X problems...

I think you're underestimating Snow Leopard as being a small upgrade... It might actually be one of the biggest upgrades, since they'll now prepare the OS for the future... because this time they don't focus on the looks, but on what's underneath it, and I think that's a bigger improvement than any other upgrade Mac OS X ever had... They don't call it just an upgrade it will really be the 10.6 version... they wouldn't do that if the upgrade was so minor as you speak of...

I have both a mac, and a PC... PC is running Vista 32, Mac - OSX 10.5.5, which is what I do my audio production on. Although I'll admit that OSX is a very, very slick OS, I still prefer windows over it. Why? because there is a near endless supply of free software for it. EVERYTHING runs on windows. Vista is very misunderstood. You need a capable computer to run it. A good video card and 2 gigs of ram is mandatory. Microsoft just REALLY needs to get rid of the annoying prompts to open a program.

There is also hardware to be considered here. I'm running windows 7 off a solid state drive on my laptop, so naturally it will boot way faster than an imac that uses a 7200 rpm hard drive, no matter which version of os x it has. Also, even in Beta, windows 7 is incredibly stable. I've had no issues in the 3 months i've used it. MS made win7 to ditch some problems vista had and get a fresher start. it was a smart move, also they release a new windows every 3 years anyways so it was due.

I have both operating systems ( Hackintosh ) and both are great. I've never had a problem with vista and with 10.5 firefox 3 is the only thing I've had an issue with. Vista is not a failure, you just need a fast computer to run it. I am looking forward to snow leopard if it is 10.6, otherwise it is irrelevant.
