Mazzy Star - Fade Into You

  • What the hell is "The Secret Circle"?

  • Comment removed

  • This has Fade into you written all over it -the vocals, the echo, the guitar ......could they be the Mazzy Star of 2011??

  • This song is definitely in my top 10. Brings tears to my eyes every time i hear it. tears ... and strong memories and emotions

  • Haunting arrangement ... beautiful ... reminds me of Hope Sandoval/Mazzi Star .....:)

  • Damn.. This song... It's... Just fucking great!!

  • Shout out to the Sklar Bros

  • I like how the 2 top comments contradict each other :)

  • how about hello bob dylan goddamn

  • I feel like this is more of an Homage to Mazzy Star.

    It's just so beautiful.

  • Mazy star

  • Ugh this is the saddest thing I've ever heard

  • every artist can easily be referenced to another artist, that's what makes every area of life influenced by different cultures, we live in the twenty first century ppl and this singer didn't steal from Mazzy Star. The front singer wrote these lyrics when her mother passed away.

  • Oh, What's up Mazzy Star?

  • @RobbFleming1989 It's well done though.

  • @RobbFleming1989 I agree.. totally reminds me of "Fade into me" by her

  • Thumbs up if you DIDN'T listen to this in "The Secret Circle"

  • @IrmaTheRandomWeirdo

It doesn't matter where you found it from; just the fact that you found the amazing song.

  • @hippyhick61 Mhm, there's nothing bad about it :) I heard it from Jonsey's Jukebox<3 I believe Or Rodney On The ROQ<3 Either way, this song is killer<3

  • @IrmaTheRandomWeirdo I completely agree (:

  • @IrmaTheRandomWeirdo

it's on 1x04 at the scene final between melissa and nick;)

  • I actually love this song, but the out of tune guitar bothers me sooo much

  • usually dudes think this music is lame, but I'm a dude and I love this song, I could listen to this song all day:)

  • I never do this but dammit thumbs up if Shiny Toy Guns brought you here!!

  • absolutely love this song, It brought tears to my eyes the first time I heard it.

Reminds me of silent snowy nights ....

  • Love the secret circle!

  • The REAL Mazzy Star's back (accept no substitute)! A new Mazzy single with two new songs is now out (Oct. 2011), with a new album & tour slated for 2012! The single's the first official Mazzy release in 15 years (too long)!

So many musicians/singers these days either cite Mazzy as an influence, or else try hard to sound like them (as DDG's do in this song). Thankfully, Hope Sandoval & David Roback decided to get back together & give folks a big slice of the real Mazzy deal again!

  • Mazzy Star is gonna be PISSED when they hear this!

  • Haha, I came here because a friend mentioned the similarity to "Fade Into You". Guess our suspicions are confirmed. :D

  • Love Mazzy, Love this :))

Vocals also remind me Echobellys "Dark Therapy"

  • I also hear a little justin bieber in the @ 0:07. Naahhhh. Just kidding. The music is reaeaeaeally reaeaeaelly great.

  • Yeah, definitely Mazzy/Hope. Also, hear Chrissie Hynde's voice/style some. Still a cool song.

  • Coming down sucks.

But not the song, I love that.

  • i wish i would have never come down from LSD.

  • Yeah, Fade into you is really strong here. You can almost every single word of Fade into you. I don't think she was trying to rip of the song tho. But, it is clear when she wrote the song she had been listening to Mazzy Star for hours before writing this.

  • im just annoyed that 3 times i went to their merch table and no one was there, i left after the encore and forgot to get what i wanted a FOURTH time...

  • dee dee always cites mazzy star as one of her biggest influences. makes sense she's got a bit of that sound here. lovin it too

  • yeah totally sounds just like fade into you... the scene with modona on the beach in swept away. which is where i discovered that amazing song. im always attracted to songs like this. you know, mello vibe.. but on shoutt. . listen to this song with some headphones. or rather some serious speakers. you'll enjoy the song better that way. ... great band!!!

  • The album has shades of Blondie, Cat Power and a hint of Scout Niblett. A great effort.

  • This is the prettiest most amazing song I've ever heard....

  • what? in the newpaper was writen: mixture of shanri-las and ronettes. this one dont sound like 'leader of the pack'. more like bullshit.

  • sounds good

  • So much like Mazzy Star, probably why I like so much! I'm so happy, I miss Mazzy Star and so far I'm really crazy about Dum Dum Girls. So the resemblance is fine with moi! :-)

  • thumb up if you listened this at ''The secret Circle''

  • I was just about to come here and point out the Mazzy resemblence. Glad I'm not the only one.

  • Similar sound to Mazzy Star. I love it!

  • I always wondered what "Fade Into You" would sound like with the scuzzy JAMC production that's the hot new thing now, and the result is ZOMG I WANT TO MARRY THIS SONG.

  • I'm kind of mad about the blatant Mazzy Star rip-off...

  • GORGEOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS! kill me now.

  • this song has mostdefinately got to be about drugs

  • fucken beautiful

  • AMAZING.... I LOVE ! ^^

  • My new favourite song....

  • i mean sure it's kinda mazzy star meets siouxsie sioux... SO BASICALLY IT IS TOTALLY EFFING BEAUTIFUL. who could complain!

  • @theteiger that's funny, i don't remember Souixie Sioux ripping off Mazzy Star.

  • I wanna hear this on the radio. As much as I hear Katy Perry and Adele. They play Adele A LOT and she doesn't do electronic-pop. They should play this song.

If you're a Dum Dum Girls fan you should go to spins.fm and request them

  • @ImFromAMS Listen to triple J - they play it there.

  • @ImFromAMS I hear it all the time on Sirius

  • @ImFromAMS I first heard this song on the radio! <3 bfm!

  • lykke li?? lol

  • that's the way i feel now.....

  • OMG when she belts out that beautiful note when she sings "There I go" wow such an amazing experiance

  • Spot on for Mazzy Star, for sure. But, check out Bobby D's Knocking on Heaven's Door.

  • i do not feel these two songs IS THE same

IT ISTHE BEAT THAT THESE TWO SONGS HAVE THE SAME TEMPO.

    BUT THE RYTHEM ARE DIFFERENT

  • Youtube needs a repeat-button.

  • Awesome

  • who cares this song is great

  • Amazing

  • It doesn't sound that much like Mazzy Star.

  • It's awesome, who gives a fuck

  • 1994 1994 1994! sry.

  • Yeah, Fade Into You was recorded in 2005...give it at least 10 years yo.

  • Comment removed

  • she better come up with her original idea rather than ripping off other people's classics...

  • Nah, Mazzy Star never came down in her life. Besides, this girl sings the hell out of this song. Listen to what she does on the sustain. I detect a little Chrissie Hynde influence in there too. Just an excellent performance all around from a great new band.

  • Nice

  • I cant get enough of this

  • This song is way longer than Fade Into You...

  • I hope this young woman is not from cali, cos then it would be extra stupid.

  • Comment removed

  • wow. they are.

  • homage?

  • ok then.

  • It's open season on awesome 90s mainstream riffs?!?! I'm going to be an indie STAR!

  • @CommentCommenter You're damn right. In a way, I'm kind of happy to hear my favorite sounds from the 90's coming back this one in particular is a tad over the top. In addition to the obvious Mazzy similarities, there is alot of Slowdive in this to me.

  • ~~~~~~HOW BEAUTIFUL~~~~~~

  • to cut off the "same chord progression" discussion, all music really uses similar or outright the same chord progressions, it's just how harmony works. This one just happens to be in the same key and have the same harmonic rhythm as Fade Into You....so yeah I can see why people would say something.

  • Glad everybody else noticed the Mazzy Star resemblance as well. It's pretty hard to ignore but I'm kind of not mad at it.

  • @charbrownstyle925 did you just fart?

  • @charbrownstyle925

It's like "Fade Into You" but a billion times louder

  • @charbrownstyle925 hey.. that's true, hadn't noticed until i read your comment

  • @charbrownstyle925

Yep... my first thought was Mazzy..

  • Coming Down......this is the new "fix"

  • A shamelessly conscious effort to produce a song modeled directly after Mazzy Star's biggest hit "Fade Into You" from the '90s. The guitar parts, tempo, rhythm, vocal style (including reverb to give that echo to the voice, a trademark of Mazzy's singer, Hope Sandoval) - are so reminiscent of Mazzy & "Fade into You", that anyone familiar with Mazzy Star should recognize the song's "inspiration" right away! But, despite it being obviously derivative,I admit it still sounds pretty good to my ears!

  • come to Portugal

  • @joel haha, spot on, I keep waiting for her to burst out into fadddddddddddddee intoooo youuuuu

  • Comment removed

  • Hahaha glad I'm not the only one that did a double take after hearing this song

  • if mazzy star's going to be on indefinite hiatus, i for one welcome other bands doing amazing imitations of mazzy star, *especially* if it's the dum dum girls. "fade into you" wishes it could have this rawness and range of dynamics.

  • @cherryghost7 How is "range of dynamics" automatically a good thing? What if a song called "fade into you" had virtually no dynamics? CRAZY! Any time the qualities of art can be quantified they are left wide open to contrivance. Contrivance is exactly what indie has become. Oh yeah and Bon Iver is Bruce Hornsby hahaaaaa
