  • whats the name of the knot you used for your marlin spike?

  • Comment removed

  • Can you post a video on how to make a one strand necklace for men, and women.? (This last one is optional.) Any color you like. I just need to learn your technique, on the most simple knotted necklace. Because I am a total beginner. Thanks.

  • Move your big thumbs and hands out of the way so we can see the ropes!

  • This is extremely difficult to get started! I feel the most important thing is getting the start of the braid down and the video does not show this. I have been re-watching the same 20 second section of the start of the braid and still can't figure it out after 1 hour of trying. I appreciate you making the video but I am very frustrated trying to start this out!

  • @bm5447 Thanks for the input. I agree this is not the best tutorial video and i will eventually get around to re-making it.

  • Terrible

  • You are lousy at explaining things!

  • What type of hemostat is in your tool kit? That looks to be a burly one. It is so hard to find a good hemostat clamp.

  • @GreenMyrtle They're some hemostats i found at a fly fishing shop made by a company called "Dr. Slick". I also tied some Turk's Head knots around the handles.

  • Can you please help me make a standard boatswains mate neck lanyard. Man I suck at life right now and I need help

  • @MrTiddy22 I'm not 100% sure what those look like. Could you PM me with some more info?

  • I was wondering how you wrap your marlin spike ?

  • @artcob16 I use a knot called a "turk's head" knot. Unfortunately I don't have a tutorial on it yet, but there are plenty already on you tube.

  • you have a pager? lol, was this video made in the 90's? :) Just kidding, this tutorial helped out big time man. THank you!

  • @PrkchpsNaplsaws I'm glad you found it helpful! Those pagers are for the Fire Dept. I volunteer at.

  • A regular marlin spike says you! No says I! A prison shank!!

    Great Tutorial. Helped alot! :)

  • @BFMVBigFan Glad you enjoyed it! I have to agree, it would make one nice shank....

  • That is quite an impressive neckchain lanyard. I wonder, though, being as tough as it is, is there not a danger that one might hang him/herself if the lanyard got stuck somewhere?

Just like wrist lanyards; I have been thinking about it, and though I have been using some string that was merely 20-40lbs strength, when braided it would still be too strong to let go in case it got stuck somewhere and it was pulling you down.

    Just a thought.

  • @aRareKindOfMonster That does pose a problem. I rarely use my lanyard around my neck, usually I just have it sticking out of my pocket. I should try to figure out a way to make a quick-release on that thing.

  • @aRareKindOfMonster it should have a break-away section with low breaking strain. Silva compass have this neat lil male/female vacuum plug... I've seen one that used electrical eyelet terminators and a section of line which they can cut through. The amount of force needed to break a neck or displace a vertebrae is scary low, hell of a lot less then 1 let alone 4 strands of paracord.

  • @mryellow123 Electrical eyelet terminators? Very clever!

  • @aRareKindOfMonster yeah those lil flat metal things you screw into place. Haven't managed to spot it again but think it might have been "seanmulhall". Been looking at friction based break-aways but hate ordering shitty plastic from overseas for $ per piece. Conference/back-stage pass lanyards usually have something but haven't got any with a decent design. Think this eyelet solution might just be the best and easiest to get hands on.

  • can you make a necklace like the one Dave from Dual Survival have only the weave thanks

  • @Hateyaall I probably could, though I'd have to look up and see exactly what he has.

  • @Hateyaall Sorry for the delay. If you PM me with a photo i could probably make it.

  • @themediocrepirate well i was searching it for a long time and i couldn't find it if you have better luck with it please share your findings :)

  • any chance you could make a simplified version of your tutorial. Kinda hard to follow.

  • marlin spike? looks like a prison shank haha. nice tutorial ;)

  • @SurvivalGrounds LOL! Hey man, it gets the job done!

  • quit moving it out of camera view and maybe we can follow

  • I also woud like to know how you put the Turks Head on your marlinspike???

  • What braid is that you covered your marlinspike with? How bout video on doing that?

  • Made one! I finished it a bit different, I used a wall and crown knot and pulled the ends back through. Nice tutorial, thanks!

  • @MrBlack751 Very cool! I finished off my friend's lanyard with a wall and crown knot, and it looked very nice. Im glad you were able to follow my instructions.

  • I'm lost I can't follow along. :(

  • Dude, you rock!!! Thanks for going out of your way to do this.
