I enjoyed the vid. Flew a rented 172 to view the Grand Canyon from N Vegas many years ago. Looks like they have upgraded the airport a bit.
Purchased my first 1979 C172 for $18200 in the early 1980's for about the same as good car. It was a reach, but it made sense to me. Used airplane prices are very low now and may appreciate from here. You make your own choices and then work of ass off to pay for them. Complaining on YouTube won't get an airplane or anything else. Being disabled, I'm going to call all of you lucky, fortunate, and blessed, to even have the ability to set these type goals. No matter how hard I would work towards it, something like this is permanently out of my grasp. People forget what they really have, and while I don't personally know anybody in this conversation, I will say especially the ones who are very blessed. I'm pretty well limited to simulation. ;-) Also, I believe Masonrock123456 meant fortunate, for the nitpicky here.
@Tinytacohead Tiny, I'm not sure how dissabled you are, but if you have upper body movements, this is hardly out of your reach. There are plane available for the dissabled so that you don't need the use of your feet for rudders. Check out the Skyarrow LSA, it is a very nice plane with full "hand rudder" capabilities.
@lvbearboy I realize there're aircraft available for the disabled, but for somebody in need & who doesn't have plenty of money at their disposal, to own such is still basically an impossible dream. (when compared to an able bodied individual's ability to do the same) Also, even if money weren't an issue, there're countless other obstacles I'd have to overcome that're as simple as tying a shoe to the average person. ;-) If your comment was meant to be helpful, I appreciate it though!
yea I have to agree with tampa444444 on this one, most of them aren't lucky, they worked hard. I have worked hard for everything I have and can attest to his/her statement.
Looks Like you had a little bit of crosswind! awesome Job of landing though you guy are really lucky to be flying also very very nice of vegas/hendeson
Yea but, unless you're a trust fund baby who never had to work, I don't attribute that to luck at all. I attribute that to hard work, dedication, etc. that enabled you to earn the money to take lessons, buy a plane, etc. Chances greatly are that they are not lucky at all but simply successful. This reminds me of friends/relatives who state that I'm "lucky" to live in a nice home and own a plane too.
I try to casually remind them that it was hard work and sacrifice...not luck.
Then replace lucky with fortunate. I worked hard to earn my private license, but I am not willing to put myslef into serious debt that I can't pay for to be a commercial pilot. Therefore, I consider myself fortunate to be able to do what I do, and I should be so lucky to win some money that will pay for my $100,000 of training.
Remember - lucky can be just a figure of speech. We know what he meant.
Again you're wrong. Fortunate/lucky are interchangeable. Fortunate means "deriving good from an unexpected source." I don't have a commercial rating (I don't know where that came from), but I too own a DA40. And you know what? It wasn't luck or fortune that enabled me to write a check for a 300k airplane. It was years of hard work (80 hours+ a week and much travel), sacrifice, discipline, and living far below my means.
Words like "fortune" and "luck" are favorite buzz words of the left
@tampa444444 I agree with you about 85 percent .... some people, no matter how hard they try or how much dedicated they are to their work they still wont be able to live in a nice home and own a plane. However I agree with you a 100 percent that people like you who are able to write a check for 300k for a plane are not lucky but are successful. I would say that hard work and dedication is a right time will lead to success.
This conversation is crazy. I think "tasev1" is missing the big picture which is truly unfortunate. What ever happen to being blessed? I personally think that "tampa444444" has been blessed to have what he does. It has NOTHING to do with luck or being fortunate. He knows what he wants and worked hard to get it as did you, tasev1. Now, let's move forward. By the way, great video! I'm moving to Vegas in 2012 and looking forward to flying this aircraft.
looked like you had a really nice crosswind going on there

why are they lucky to be flying? I don't get it.
tampa444444 2 years ago
Because so few people in the world have the unique opportunity to fly an airplane! And an even fewer few can actually own one like this.
