Dance is a cathartic display of mastery and skill, complete with aesthetic illusion. Tricks emphasize climactic, emotional parts relative to the rest of the piece. Therefore, if you can incorporate a trick in seamless and intentional fashion so it contributes to the overall effect, then you are incredible. NEVER let them be a crutch. It's about using them RIGHT. If you can, grab your ticket to Vegas, you're awesome!

@TheSilentWarrior I agree completely Allison I love for her power and the fluidity of her movements, where Katie's little details and accents on her movements make her special in an entirely different way though she's brilliant too, those little hand gestures like piano keys particularly I love in this audition

ITs about technique dont get that twisted, not all dances have to have ariels or round off double bck into a layout, that was a great piece.

Dance is not about how many tricks you show off, it's about the feeling and passion behind the dancing that makes you a true dancer. It's not primarly technique... it starts out as that yes, but then when you forget about the steps and feel the music that's when you become a dancer like Katee Sheen. =D

@MyVersionOfReality I thought it was a weak display of technique. Good extension but too much reaching out, pauses and disconnected movement which shows she's a bad choreographer (holds true in the solos she had on the show)

@dannydd0728 I was stating a fact. It's not rude. She's a dancer, not a choreographer. And dance is primarily about technique. Anyone with no dance training can do this routine. It was a poor display of technique, poor display of choreography, plus she was smiling to a song about being 2 steps away from loneliness. She's a talented dancer - but I don't see it here. It was mostly shown when she worked with other choreographers.
