I never found Jerry to be funny in his stand ups. And I didnt like the sitcom. On the other hand I like Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry David alot. Its hilarious. Why is that. What did LD see in Jerry that I missed. Weird...
@smaniz Larry David saw Millions and Millions of dollars in Jerry obviously....talented or not, they got rich from his show. I think Larry made a wise choice....but CYE is a much better show.
This is the year "Never Mind The Bollocks" was released. I don't think Jerry was listening to the Sex Pistols back then. Looks more like an ABBA or Carpenters fan.
@Rockhugger7 You noticed that too? I would guess that he worked on mitigating his Brooklyn accent; possibly with a dialect coach. One can still tell he’s from NYC, but the accent is much less pronounced on *Seinfeld*.
@AlexRaveloTV No, the exact opposite. I am just speculating that he might have had help from a dialect coach to mitigate his native NYC accent. It is much thicker here, when he had been around 23, than years later on *Seinfeld*. He later sounded more highly educated and refined than he does here, which is perhaps the image he wanted to convey as his career aged.
I think young Jerry Seinfeld looks very cute , he also has nice full lips! To me I think young Jerry looks way better than most of the male celebrities in Hollywood I.E Bradley Cooper ,zac effron etc etc
Yeah I too looked this up after watching Talking Funny on HBO. Watch it if you can, it's a sit-down with Jerry Seinfeld, Ricky Gervais, Louie C.K., & Chris Rock. They talk about starting out in stand-up and about their favorite bits.
This probably was an early cable show, maybe even public access. I draw that conclusion because I lived in NY at the time, lacked cash to go out much so I watched lots of over-the-air TV and never heard of a show called ''Celebrity Cabaret.'' The title sounds like a public access show. Btw, I guess I'm among the few Americans who never thought Jerry was funny, either as a stand-up or on his own show. In fact, he was the only cast member of Seinfeld who I never thought was funny.
A lot of times you look at old footage of performers you expect to see them horrible.e But Seinfeld already had it together by what, 22, 23. The great Seinfeld
Jerry was 20 years old in this video. Wow.
