  • I like you beard

  • Excellent idea on the tarp and the reflector for the fire.

  • Where I come from, leaving the leaves in your shelter will cost you dearly mate.

    FL Everglades

  • @2962nicktucker Well this was my first attempt at that variation of the semi pyramidal shelter. I've used for years the semi pyramidal with the tarp covering the floor under which is sometimes smaller but protects you from what lives in the leaves... in switzerland, tick (with illness) are a major problem...

  • @2962nicktucker I'm trying to inform myself about disaster preparation, why would it cost him dearly?

  • @kaneofdarkness I am in GA and have camped in GA and FL, I am guessing he is talking about spiders, particularly the Brown Recluse. I knew a man that had funnel shaped scars from three separate bites over the course of many yrs, being in FL wilderness

  • Hey, was great to see your article in Self Reliance illustrated issue #2 showing this set-up, nice job Matthias.

  • @zam200864 Thanks mate!

  • nice and i love the camo patern on tarp.

  • great video... thank you so much... this shows it from inside and outside.. i was surprised by how you can put gear and stuff inside... the setup is really simple and seems to be really efficient ! thanks again!

  • your rugeid

  • i just got the golite shangrala 3 a single pole teppe type shelter. 1.9 pounds, sleeps 3 and 3 packs, 1 pole 6 stakes. totalu awesome. check it out at golite.com. but i use one like yours when i go it alone. a great little set up in itself. awesome, looks so fun!

  • nice.

  • Great job! Greetings from America.

  • @FullMetalOvercoat Thanks for the kind comment! CH-eers mate!

  • @ScarFace9797 No worries, glad if I can help! CH-eers mate!

  • I have used this type of set-up with an 8x10 tarp in the winter using a campfire in front of the shelter. Its a grreat way to keep the wind off of you and to stay warm... good video.

  • Nice video, very helpful for what i need to know about camouflage skills, cheers from Peru!!!!

  • @rudytour Thanks mate! I'm glad it helped. If you have any question, just ask! CH-eers!

  • I love your use of camouflage materials! I just hate colour pollution in the nature. :)

  • Es-tu français ou québécois?

  • @Takuan66 Salut!

CH-eers mate!

  • @PinewoodCH ive been learning french in school for years but when naturally french speaking people try to talk to me i don't understand a word.

  • @ScarFace9797 the best way to train is to watch TV in french. Most of the time, the problem is our way of talking and slangs. We french speaking dudes have the same problem. Understanding southern american english, scottish, or docks' english is sometimes pretty hard, but those are accents I love. The best way to improve was training. And french could be pretty useful sometimes too. my advice, try to watch french movies with then without french substitles ^^. CH-eers mate!

  • Do you have a vid on how to make this shelter and if you don't could you make a vid to show me how to make it as i am wanting to use this shelter, cheers

  • @nitrodudez09 @nitrodudez09 Well. I do have a similar shelter in another of my videos where I show how to build it. you should watch it. then, If you want to flatten the shape as for this one, just move the pegs! Hope it helps!

  • Do you have a vid on how to make this shelter and if you don't could you make a vid to show me how to make it as i am wanting to use this shelter, cheers

  • what tarp plane are you using. I will likely integrate that kind of shelter into my fishing kit. I like it a lot

  • wrong terms... sorry. I mean tarp, in German the amount of fabric or film used to cover something is called "Plane". Nothing like that in English. So, what kind of Flecktarn fabric is it?

  • @Rasenkrieger Ach soooo, Jetzt kann ich verstehen! ^^ It's not ripstop and not Silnylon. I don't have "official" information but I can describe it : it's a synthetic fibre, with some kind of vinyle or silicone layer. Does it help ?

  • @PinewoodCH

    yep. helps :)

  • nice video. 5/5

  • @Rocdenindy Thanks for your nice comment! CH-eers

  • Did that fire and reflector radiate any heat into the shelter? It seemed like a small fire, I am just curious wether that size fire was already enough (I am going to stay in the woods overnight myself this winter, so I am trying to learn!).

  • Hi, thanks for asking! Well the fire you've seen was "in construction" indeed. I was building it between two shoots. The main aim was to heat my cup of coffee at that level, and the reflector more a windshield.

but the temperature was pretty low, it was slightly snowing, and I was only with a t-shirt and sleeveless 3 layer fleece but not cold.

But after the last video shoot, i've finished the reflector and added larger logs and that's when the heat really radiated inside.

    Hope it helps!

  • and I hope you'll upload a video of your night in the woods ^^

  • That's right! this was really welcome! Thanks mate! CH-eers

  • Very nice video. Good to see someone enjoying their outdoors without claiming to be an expert. Keep enjoying.

  • Your comment is really kind! I'm really glad this is the way you feel! My aim is more to share tricks and learn from the others and most importantly, if I can inspire someone to go out in the woods and enjoy, I'd be more than happy! Thanks mate! +1

  • Nice little shelter....interesting video. Peace

  • good job man. 5/5

  • nice one for that..

  • Thanks mate ! CH-eers

  • My friends & I allways build Simular shelter for hunting trips here in West Virginia. Ours is a bit bigger since we sleep 5-7 men & all our gear. A good thing to use for a tarp is bubble wrap. Even without our heater we can set up in the sun and have 80F inside when it 50F outside.

  • Oh!! that's a really nice tip! you're right! Never thought of that one for insulation! I'll try it next time! Thanks for sharing! CH-eers!

  • Nice bike. What is that building in the distance at 9:00 ?

  • Thanks! that's my freeride bike, a bit heavy for trips, but gets you anywhere you want!

That building is a little shed as in this place of the woods, they are now sawing timbers around this part of the woods and keep their stuff inside (I've checked that just before filming ^^!)

  • Thanks, Pinewood.

  • Glad you liked! ^^ CH-eers and thanks for the comment!

  • Nice, thanks for sharing 5/5!

  • my pleasure! thanks for the comment! CH-eers!

  • Great vid and set-up! oh! A Canadian Jacket :) Yeah!!!!!

    Good one Matt 5/5

  • Haha I really do love Canadian stuff, people and landscapes. I should think about moving in there someday! ^^ CH-eers Mike!

  • Love the video Matthias!

  • nice video my friend! nice and a easy shelter!!

  • thanks mate! ^^

  • Good video. Next time you should make the opening a little smaller I think it would make it warmer in there. Other than that good job. 5/5

  • That I will try. Thanks for the advice and the comment!

    CH-eers!

  • I answer you by PM mate!

  • That goatee is ridiculous.

    Thanks for the video! 5/5
