Gene wanted to put openly gay couples in TNG... but he ran into the same opposition as he did with TOS and black crew members... the TNG episode "Outcast" was to deal with LGBT issues... but apparently, it was met with opposition... so it isn't exactly a new idea for Trek, just a new onscreen depiction, which has only taken place in fan films so far...
The show is great . I think the story lines are sold & developed. I've been a fan for five years & I look forward to see what direction you folks are taking things. See you on the forums. All of my best. I guess the whole "gay" relationship fades into the background vs the story.
@KingDD3 Is this a joke? Show me one gay male intimate scene on Star Trek. As a gay trekkie this show has meant to much to me to see gay characters walking around with dignity and just as capable as their hetero counterparts. It makes me feel hope that there is love out there for us.
Well they are going where no other Trek show has gone to for sure. I think it took alot of guts not only to have a gay storyline, but to to a gay love scene as well. Of course this is going to generate all kinds of reactions(good as well as bad), but that's the risk you take in doing something like this.
the only thing i don't like about hidden frontier is the gay love scences thats when i move a bit ahead on my quicktime video i mean we get they are gay but you don't need to see them kiss also i don't mine if they get rid of all love scences in all movies because it would be unfair to show not show gays kiss but to show straight couples kiss but still a good show and i can't wait for the new episode of helena chonicals the end of the last episode obsessions left me wanting more

Gay fans can already identify with Sulu (George Takei). So why bother with more?

His character wasn't gay so it's not really the same thing.
