I agree with Danielated... It is weird to picture Michael singing Entertaining angels. However when I first heard Born Again i was excited for the new direction and the new sound the newsboys can have. It is a whole new Newsboys for a whole new generation. I will always love the Newsboys of old with the Breakfast song, Take me to your Leader, ect. God Bless these guys, and may they reach out and touch a generation like Peter Furler and the Boys did!!

I still don't think Tait fits with most songs, but with this he fits perfect. Furler was an amazing singer, and so is Tait, but they both have a different song, but I now think that the choice to put Michael into the spot wasn't a bad one. I was just imagining Michael singing 'Belly of the Whale', and it wasn't fitting, this is amazing, though.

Im glad that if they truly needed to make a change in the core members, they would chose someone who is going to be able to continue to bring the mesage of the lords love and compassion... there are very few male artist who can do that in their vocals. True the new line-up feels strange, but it also felt strange when Phil Joel (entertaining angels) left the band. Besides, Peter hasn't left the band, he's just stepped back to take some time for him and his family, and to center back on the lord.
That's funny, because I thought they lost a lot after John James (the original lead singer) left the band and I thought Peter was just "not bad"... Until their disco album, but that's a whole different story. LOL
I guess this just goes to show that once you get used to a group, any change in the core members feels strange.

Tait was the worst thing that happened to the newsboys. He sounds good here because his voise is edited. I have been 7 newsboys concerts, one with Tait. Tait made it sound like newsboys karaoke. In other words it was horrible. Peter needs to come back.
I went to winter jam a few days ago in Tulsa Oklahoma and I wasn't sure how I'd feel about tait singer for the newsboys, but wow did tait and them bring down the house. They rock out and everyone had a a blast. Having seen them perform in concert I'd have to say that they made the right move. Cuz I'd definitely go see them in concert again.
I'm sure that the Newsboys made the decision of bringing Tait in as the lead singer prayerfully. Therefore, we have to trust that God helped make this decision with them. Also, and for this I am sure, they did make the decision and the decision was made. None of our attempts at voicing our opinions will truly change that.

i saw the Newsboys and Third Day at WinterJam in Greensboro, NC on Saturday. it felt amazing to be among so many Christians praising the one true God.
I can't believe some of the comments that I read about how Peter is better than Michael and Vice Versa that really isn't the point the point is that this is a wounderful move. It's sad that Peter is gone but things happen, and look at what we have here we have a collaboration of two of the most hottest Christian bands EVER we have 1/3 DC Talk and the rest of the Newsboys Wow! their future albums God willith are gonna be Hott and I'm gonna be right there at wal-mart buying them!
This was so awesome! In my opinion I believe that Michael brings more of a soulful rock edge to this song but not to take away from Peter he brings more of a edgy praise and worship feel to the song it's the same song but different it's still a great song.

Whoa. I just found out today that Michael Tait joined this band. I hated their music with Furler. His singing sounded both fake and forced, but Tait's singing sounds both genuine and emotional.

Micheal just never stuck out as a front man. Good voice, and stronger musical understanding than I could ever have...but he doesn't have that "it" factor. I hope he gets it, but there's no shame in not having it. Peter had it...Toby and Kevin Max have "it." He just seems to be trying too hard. Not sure if he needs to relax into his own style or if he isn't meant for it...

I was there too, wasn't it just amazing?? I especially loved it when they came back out and did Jesus Freak! I didn't think they would come back because last year when the Encore was chanted they never came back heh.
It's like Tait bought the Newsboys catalog. I don't like it. I love dc Talk and I love Tait (the band), but this is not Newsboys to me. I need the Australian accent for it to work for me - you can't fundamentally change your sound after 25 years.
I was so amazed...when I saw them in Concert two weeks ago...I really expected to battle with the "it's not peter"...thing...but no..Tait comes out with a passion and stage presence that blew me away...go everyone...it is worth it!

As a longtime Newsboys fan, all I've got to say is, WOW. Just unbelievable! I'll be honest, I actually shed tears when I heard Furler was stepping down--there's nothing more amazing than hearing a passionate Aussie voice praise God the way Peter did. Michael Tait, though,.....it's hard to even do justice to what he brings to the table. The soul, the passion, idk what, but he and Furler were definitely cut from the same cloth--even if that cloth didn't originate "Down Under," lol
It's cool how Michael Tait incorporates a bit of soul into his singing and blends it with the Newsboys' contemporary and upbeat rock style. This is a really nice song, and Michael Tait just made me hear it in a new way.
My only complaint is that the album version of this song doesn't have Micheal Tait... You can't purchase this version of it! Which sucks because it's the best version of it.

TOTALLY AWESOME!! love it. tait definitely fits in so well with the newsboys! sure peter will be missed but tait has been long time friend/mate and he is just perfect for the role of frontman! saw tait in concert with them and he's absolutely amazing. their show definitely displays that newsboys haven't missed a beat. sure the change will take some time to get used to but i say, just give tait a chance and you'll be satisfied and amazed with his talent and passion for God & performing. =)
not dissing you at all, just stating my opinion, i completely disagree. i don't think he fits at all. i think they should have just started something new. peter will always be the front man of the newsboys, and the newsboys are no longer the same band. sure they'll touch lives, do God's doing and that's all that really matters, but musically, i think it's a mistake. only my opinion though

yeah i mean i'm sure that's what God wanted them to do I respect all the guys including Tait in their walk with God - and I'm not the type to just be like "ohh well it's not the way I want it, so screw them" it's just I've really tried to like it and I don't. I siriously think that peter is way better. I am getting a little bit more used to mike tait but he will never be as good as peter. Peter has more passion, and he has a way better voice. Fact: if Michael Tait was the lead singer all this time and he stepped down to let Peter Furler take over, you would all be just as upset. It has little to do with who's actually better, but what you're used to. And that's okay! Just don't pretend it's anything else.

I mean I agree that is probably the case for some people-but really I've never been much of a Tait fan,even with DC talk, I always preferred Kevin and Toby - I fell in love with Peter's voice years ago, and they just don't compare - not saying Tait can't sing - just saying their voices are so different.

No. He does. Tait has like 3 Grammy's and a 2x platinum album and 2 platinum albums and an adult top 40 hit... aka secular air play. Here's the difference. Tait is a pair of Nike's. Peter is Adidas. 2 different styles. When it comes to overall voice, Tait is better. Anyone can tell you that. Whether or not you like Peters more is up to you but to say Tait doesn't have a soulful touch is ignorant...

@theassassin43 First of all, those awards you listed were for dc Talk, and dc Talk was definitely a synergistic effort (meaning it was greater than the sum of its parts) and not just a Michael Tait effort. Secondly, it doesn't matter if Tait is a better singer. Josh Groban is "technically" better than Bono but I'll be darned if he ever took Bono's place as U2 frontman. Tait isn't a talentless hack in the least but Peter Furler he ain't.

This was so awesome! In my opinion I believe that Michael brings more of a soulful rock edge to this song but not to take away from Peter he brings more of a edgy praise and worship feel to the song it's the same song but different it's still a great song.

Whoa. I just found out today that Michael Tait joined this band. I hated their music with Furler. His singing sounded both fake and forced, but Tait's singing sounds both genuine and emotional.

Micheal just never stuck out as a front man. Good voice, and stronger musical understanding than I could ever have...but he doesn't have that "it" factor. I hope he gets it, but there's no shame in not having it. Peter had it...Toby and Kevin Max have "it." He just seems to be trying too hard. Not sure if he needs to relax into his own style or if he isn't meant for it...

Hm, as a guy who preferred DC Talk by leaps and bounds over the Newsboys back in the day, I might consider listening to them now.
I know that comes across as though I'm belittling the Newsboys, I'm not, I only put it as blunt as that to show you how a lot of other people are thinking. This could be a good thing for the Newsboys!

Hmm. I guess for me, it's that he's singing Peter's songs, ones that have already been recorded with Peter fronting the band. Maybe it'll seem less weird when they put out a new record, with new songs and Tait fronting.

It's like Tait bought the Newsboys catalog. I don't like it. I love dc Talk and I love Tait (the band), but this is not Newsboys to me. I need the Australian accent for it to work for me - you can't fundamentally change your sound after 25 years.

I was so amazed...when I saw them in Concert two weeks ago...I really expected to battle with the "it's not peter"...thing...but no..Tait comes out with a passion and stage presence that blew me away...go everyone...it is worth it!

As a longtime Newsboys fan, all I've got to say is, WOW. Just unbelievable! I'll be honest, I actually shed tears when I heard Furler was stepping down--there's nothing more amazing than hearing a passionate Aussie voice praise God the way Peter did. Michael Tait, though,.....it's hard to even do justice to what he brings to the table. The soul, the passion, idk what, but he and Furler were definitely cut from the same cloth--even if that cloth didn't originate "Down Under," lol

My only complaint is that the album version of this song doesn't have Micheal Tait... You can't purchase this version of it! Which sucks because it's the best version of it.

TOTALLY AWESOME!! love it. tait definitely fits in so well with the newsboys! sure peter will be missed but tait has been long time friend/mate and he is just perfect for the role of frontman! saw tait in concert with them and he's absolutely amazing. their show definitely displays that newsboys haven't missed a beat. sure the change will take some time to get used to but i say, just give tait a chance and you'll be satisfied and amazed with his talent and passion for God & performing. =)

not dissing you at all, just stating my opinion, i completely disagree. i don't think he fits at all. i think they should have just started something new. peter will always be the front man of the newsboys, and the newsboys are no longer the same band. sure they'll touch lives, do God's doing and that's all that really matters, but musically, i think it's a mistake. only my opinion though

respect your opinion. but just give tait a chance, really. he's an awesome singer and really has the talent. and its what Peter wanted and also, i believe, what God wanted for the newsboys at this time. sure, peter was a big part of the newsboys, and he is going to be missed, but we still have jody duncan and jeff. tait just adds more vibe and energy to the band. peter will still be writing songs for them so he's not totally gone =)

yeah i mean i'm sure that's what God wanted them to do I respect all the guys including Tait in their walk with God - and I'm not the type to just be like "ohh well it's not the way I want it, so screw them" it's just I've really tried to like it and I don't. It'll never be the same band to me - but by observing the comments it appears they're still touching many lives which as I said before is really what matters. I just sadly can't take part :-\

I siriously think that peter is way better. I am getting a little bit more used to mike tait but he will never be as good as peter. Peter has more passion, and he has a way better voice. And you just need newsboys to have an austalian accent. What has made the newsboys great is their accent. I really don't like micheal tait. He is just too different. He also has too deep of a voice.That just is not newsboys. Don't you agree? I don't think that i will ever get used to the newsboys without peter.

I mean I agree that is probably the case for some people-but really I've never been much of a Tait fan,even with DC talk, I always preferred Kevin and Toby - I fell in love with Peter's voice years ago, and they just don't compare - not saying Tait can't sing - just saying their voices are so different.
what i MEAN by saying all of this is that if Pete came back, I would be so glad - it has nothing to do with being used to someone.

One of the videos that have choked me more is "Simple Man" when Mr Furler wasn't lead singer... it sounded so different. But it was cool. So I think that Michael Tait as leadvoice sounds weird, but it sounds great too.

Change can be hard to swallow... Peter Furler is not replaceble, but I am glad the newsboys continue to be a band without him. When Phil Joel left, I was mad.. when Paul Coleman left, I was confused, but I was glad to see Jody back... Pete's news about leaving is still painful...but I am glad they didn't break up.. lets embrace the change and enjy the new sound...

No. He does. Tait has like 3 Grammy's and a 2x platinum album and 2 platinum albums and an adult top 40 hit... aka secular air play. Here's the difference. Tait is a pair of Nike's. Peter is Adidas. 2 different styles. When it comes to overall voice, Tait is better. Anyone can tell you that. Whether or not you like Peters more is up to you but to say Tait doesn't have a soulful touch is ignorant...

@theassassin43 First of all, those awards you listed were for dc Talk, and dc Talk was definitely a synergistic effort (meaning it was greater than the sum of its parts) and not just a Michael Tait effort. Secondly, it doesn't matter if Tait is a better singer. Josh Groban is "technically" better than Bono but I'll be darned if he ever took Bono's place as U2 frontman. Tait isn't a talentless hack in the least but Peter Furler he ain't.
