  • after the numbnut tea party have finished destroying the economy, this will be how US army will invade Iran....

  • Actually, that looks like the 1960's, not the 1950's. In this video, the ladies have bouffant hair styles. Jackie Kennedy started that trend.

  • We had those at school, I liked them, got to mention I was born in the 80s.

  • walking would be alot faster.

  • LOL

  • The Duoped--distant ancestor of the Sedgeway.

  • invented by liberals concerned about carbon emissions...OMG ...remember to feed people correctly, don't wan't any "carbon emissions" from their booty to pollute the air, if you catch my drift.

  • the girl at 0:30 fell to many times........

  • For real?

  • how did they turn?

  • i want 1

  • Walking.

  • don't show this to those type of people that post on that "streetsblog", they'll want special lanes for these things.

  • i can imagine all the faceplants that invention caused

  • I wanna see a fat person go on it hahaha

  • Lol even the guy that could ride it was having a hard time balancing on it. Hmm wonder y it never took off...

  • Looks like the precursor to the Segway.

  • 0:32 look at the chick's face on the right xD

  • im black...sadly to say i dont want to be anywhere in time after the 1980s lol

  • I fucking have one of those..

  • its a German invention they tried to kill people by just testing it and when they trip they die

  • it was good for doing faceplants

  • It's about as useful for walking as a Flintstones car was for driving...

  • Press 0:31 and look to the right.

  • I love how the last words are "Oh, well.."

  • Use this instead of skates in roller derby -- it'd be much more comical to watch.

  • Analogue Segway? :-)

  • i would love to see this in fallout

  • i had one of those 1970s version. i busted my ass on that thing

  • The Duoped! Combine the strenuous effort of walking with none of the benefits of speed from riding a bike! It's pure genius!

  • i hate 1950's

  • skating? That's old fasion. I mean who skates anymore these da- ohhhhh.... * shamefully scoots his duoped back into his closet* ..... ._.

  • aweosme

  • that invention was a epic fail becuase people stop useing them

  • 0:43

Those girls want him inside of them.

  • worst invention ever! probably made by Band-aid

    . LOL!

  • Yes that was a bad week for inventions....it didn't have a long run. hahaha

  • This was a kinda popular toy available in US in 1970s too. Advantages: no batteries and good exercise. Like pogo stick and stilts its something kids just played with. Remember play?

  • We had these in our school gym

  • What incredible cock-end thought this up?

  • And so, personal injury lawyers were born.

  • Was this actually an old toy, or is this just a goofy 1950's commercial spoof?

  • Zombie moment at 0:31 :D

  • i don't see what's wrong with feet and walking

  • in heels?

  • Damn, that's real? Thought it was just good comedy. lol

  • WHERE CAN YOU BUY THESE?

  • 0:48 sucker

  • I...WANT...ONE!!!!!!!!!

  • i wonder how many people got on one, fell down and got a concussion?

  • I had one. My parent took and sister and I on a tour of Europe in July '65. We saw a kid in San Raphael, using one and my dad asked me if i wanted one. I got and was able to use it but then was no way to easily turn it so I had to stop and reposition it. Also, unlike a bike, there was minimal mechanical advantage, more like a trike. So unless the riding surface was a smooth flat surface 9not asphalted, cement) it was hard work.

  • for a 50's film, the quality is outstanding. i thought it was a modern period thing.

  • this actual seems pretty interesting, better than most of the toys today

  • too much effort in going nowhere...lol

  • how many drunk people have died because of this thing? ha

  • 0:31 girl on the right is going nuts.....

  • It appears to be a 1950s version of Nikki Grahame at 0:32... unfortunately. :')

  • hey if you can walk a tightrope, you can ride this bad boy...so easy a caveman can do it !

  • Found one of these at a thrift stop a few years back. Fun little toy, but ain't got nuthin' on the ultimate wheel.

  • Butlins in Minehead has sure looks differant now.

  • lol i had one of them and i wasn't alive until 95

  • hahah its like a pre-technology age segway

  • This isn't from the 1950's. Judging by hairdos, hemlines and other fashions, this looks to be about 1963 or '64.

  • @TP2001 youre right. minehead butlins opened in 1962 so this was around 62, 63, 64

  • How do you steer that?

  • If this is ment to be an labour saving device, the energy you have to use use to move at the speed of walking, it would be easier to walk lol

  • Whoa, I got one of these for my tenth birthday. I never could move more than a foot.

  • They all look so uncomfortable riding that thing.

  • what's the name of the background music? i hear it everywhere.

  • I can't help but to think this is fake..... because my question is... why is the quality so clear for a promotional video that was so-called set in the 1950's?

  • @Xmomo91X And there's also no information about this product online.

  • @Xmomo91X these are reall, i had one as a kid!

  • @bikegirl2 Oh wow, how crazy! Lol, I would have never guessed. But seriously, why is it so hard to find information on this product?

  • @Xmomo91X i think its got many names, try looking in toys r us in the out door toys department!

  • Is anybody else going to say it? No? Okay....

"They see me rollin, they hatin..."

  • @wingsrule17 --- THEYWANNACATCHMEROLLINGDIRTY!!!

  • if the showed a guy walk buy someone on the wheel it would look like the walker was hauling ass

  • I tried those before at my skool and it's really hard to do.

  • Why dont they just walk rather than riding on that thing?

  • The Segway, version 1.0.

  • hahahahahaha

    what the Invention

but realy great to think and this start to the future

  • LOL!! girl on right at 0:31!! ha

  • SEGWAY! lol

  • Segway v1.0

  • @MrSnrub666 I was thinking that.

  • Some may disagree that this is easier than a bike? Really? Ya think?

  • I saw a mall cop ride one of these a week ago... wait, no this is a crude early version of it

  • what is the name of the song in the background?

  • spd!!!

  • The Duoped had a really bad name, it's more like the Fail-O-Ped.

  • how do you turn ?

  • @predvcecerom easy, just 3 steps, 1: fall. 2: get up. and 3: start over in new direction. haha

  • @predvcecerom you dont

  • A personal injury lawyer's wet dream.

  • thank god for segway!!

  • The Manufacturer say its Easier than Riding a Bike !!! LOL

  • Yup, lets show people falling off our product and hurting themselves!

  • 1950's Segway!

  • Original fixed gear hipsters.

  • 0:28 is she seriously trying to ride that thing in heels?

  • lol the fall in the pool was soo fake

  • @jerryk2198 Yes, but it was good one.

  • Why do you think they call it Duop?

  • might as well walk

  • It was invented by a Dentist...

  • Prototype Segway, LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Ha ha ha, cant stop laghing look at the girls face on the right at 0:30, ha ha ha ah ah

  • lol the girl at 0:30 reminds me of Kristen Wiig :P

  • where can i find?

  • only the germans would invent that

  • Many of today's kids can't even walk backwards without falling. This is a device to train your body and your sense of balance. It's still popular around here - you see it in many kindergardens and elementary schools.

It's not intended as a short-distance transportation device (e.g. to fetch the newspaper) or for grown-ups to me more appealing to humans of the opposite sex - that's unless they know what it's for and appreciate coordination and balance.

  • So, they invented the wheel... No, wait, it's the newest version of the Segway! Like how the scooter became the skateboard.

  • vintage Segway.

  • The Segway of the 50's.

  • idiots its for balance and coordination.

  • @uros160 Really? seems it would have sold better if they would have told them that.

  • Is that music in stereo?

  • This film looks more early 1960s to me 1963-64?

  • Its kind of weird meeting old people for these times, Because A lot of them were racist's and its like Shit Gramps Ya still hattin on the nigs?

  • Duoped! Harder & Slower than walking! Get yours NOW!

  • The One Who Invented Walking with Two Legs Got Heavy Competition.

  • This is the 60s, not the 50s...

  • That's really cool, it's can be dangerous, but you just have to be careful with it. And look at how nicely everyone on here is dressed. I have such nostalgia for the '50s era.

  • great.. i dont have to touch the ground!! how reaveling

  • Good way to bash your brain on the sidewalk.

Why don't they just invent skates so you can ride on the train tracks?

  • "skating? thats old fashion.."

  • LOL!! girl on right at 0:31!!

  • @GrannySnapples

how did u manage to se that:DDDDDDDDDDDDD hahahah:D

  • @GrannySnapples hahahaha good observation....

  • @GrannySnapples holy cow. that. was.... what.. i don't even,

  • we used those Duopeds a lot when i was in school (in the 90ies in Austria). never really liked it though, they were quite tricky to use.

  • try an ollie that down a 30 stair

  • I like taking girls for a ride LOL

  • Segway Alpha

  • Have fun turning a corner

  • i definitely have one of these

  • America is too safe now. What ever happened to natural selection.

  • why was this invention terrible?

  • @TheRealityRocks no turning, hard to ride, and you don't move any better or faster than walking.

  • The first sagway?
