why is everyone so concerned about this style not working or that technique not being any good! Remember it`s the exponent not the style! Surely we`ve all bumped into a duff dan grade or a excellent yellow belt! I agree that some styles may have an advantage but when the two clash it`s often down to the individual not the style that decides the winner. Above that it`s down to their teacher.So as allways find a good teacher!

i do MMa witch include BJJ. Oure every class conteins real sparing at the end with protectors ofcourse but the punches are for real, so my point is U have to try it in a real situation to se if it work, or u forget everything in thet moment u have learn for meny years and run away, For every MA u need BALLS or else play some chess

@Asoccerman123 Jiu-Jitsu is better for actual self-defense. I've actually been able to use this in real life. But, Judo is cool, too. By brother (who is trained in Jiu-Jitsu) took some Judo classes when he moved, and said it was a lot of fun. So, I'd try a little of both!

And these moves do work in real life if you know what you're doing, they may look over complicated but they aren't that really. Alot of it that looks complicated is the joint locks but they really do work, police use many joint locks. Believe me if you are in a joint lock it hurts like HELL

Any martial art is respectable. I bet any of these dudes do good in BJJ aswell, they must know the ground work. BJJ emphasizes more groundwork and minimizes striking. All of this looks more like traditional japanese martial arts and many disciplines were derived. You also have to know that any M. Art evolves, that is the reason some martial arts look to not be effective in MMA. Either way, ur always gonna have idiots post stupid shiet.

Couple questions regarding Aikido vs Jiu Jitsu ... I kno both are very similar, but does Aikido teach any offense at all? and Does Jiu Jitsu have sword training? I heard that Aikido does. And Which is better for real life situations

There are several different styles of Jiujitsu. some teach sword some dont. If u want sword Try KenJitsu

Aikido comes from Jujutsu, has a spiritual side to it, and focuses mostly on defending against extremely violent attacks. I think the learning curve to having a practical self-defense system will be a lot higher with Aikido than a self-defense style of jujutsu. There is some self-defense taught in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, but the main focus is fighting not self defense.

The point I was making about BJJ is that there is a large difference between the fighting/sport fighting arts and the self-defense/law enforcement arts. The conflict dynamic of a fight is quite different from a life & death self-defense scenario. Just as self-defense training will not prepare one for the UFC, fight training is not ideal for most real world applications

I am a black belt in Tae kwon do. I gave it up for ju jitsu, so I know! TKD is totally 1 dimensional. It is a martial art mainly based on kicking yet it doesnt teach low kicks or even effective counters against kicks! Some one attacking with TKD style kicks (particularly ITF style) would be on their arse before they knew what happened. Don't get me wrong it is great fun if you like sparring and patterns but it is completely lame for real self defence.

Yea Jiu Jitsu is actually self defense. If someone wants to start something they will regret it after wards. I train in Sanuces that was created by doctor Moses Powell. I use to do Karate and Capoeira.

Im a tae kwon do/Hapkidoist, Please dont embarrase us with your know how. The kid went from simple techniques to arm bars, arm triangle chokes, rear naked chokes, Kokunage, Iriminage, Kotegeshi, to Sankyo and nikkio techniques. Not easy to have all this knowledge and just apply it so easily as shown in his demo... He has extensive basic knowledge... Also I agree he is not as agressive as most students but because he probably has a kind demenor. Dosent make his technique ineffective though.

Gracies just founded Gracie jiu jitsu or Brazillian Jiu Jitsu... their own style of Jiu Jitsu.. Wich is extremely effective though.. about mma.. mma is a combination of different fighting styles... because of that combination, I believe a mma fighter is the best all round fighter. saying one style is best is just retarded, its the combi that makes it great.
