  • I was in 8th grade at Shaw Jr. High School when this came out! Probably 1 of the first albums I bought!

  • One of the best Funk joints form 1975. It's still better than most of the bullshit that they play now a days.

  • They need a video for this song with spider man doing some ol school dancing

  • Yes! Those were the days! As far as the other djs, ya'll left some out. Some of the others I remember included Lamar Renee and Vi Higginson, I used to always wonder what they looked like until one day I noticed that they had some of their names & pictures on plain white matchbook covers. Anyone else remember or ever see that? Anyway, it's good to reminisce about the BEST radio station of all time.

  • YES!!! Appears many of us in the 70's who used to listen to 'BLS as we called it back in the day remember how Ken "Spiderman" Webb used to wake us up to this about 7A every morning. I think he used to love this more than we did, as he's have whomever was spinning for him mix this to death at times!!. No complaints here. I had my JVC box with the built in cassette tape player recording it as much as I could!

  • Thanks!! I used to jam this hard in my 8-track :) along with the Brecker Brothers "Sneaking Up Behind You".

  • OOOO MMMM GGGG THIS WAS THE SHIZNIT

  • Worse than Dukey Stick?

  • B-Boy classic!!

  • This is song is funk (bass), soul (Jimmy's voice) and church (that mean tamborine) all wrapped into one! It never gets old.

  • WOW! took me back with this one...I grew up on WBLS also...remember the 8 oclock song?

  • @bigjohnb161 Hey BigJohn, I too grew up on WBLS this was the track for the DJ Ken "Spider Man" Web.

  • Question, do anybody know who lead the song Spiderman?

    Let me know please.

  • Wow...I have been looking for this song for years. This was the jam!

  • Sick Drop!

  • Yea tell that web slinging s.o.b to spin a webb to this &hit. this an old school twist right herre.

  • I remember Ken (spiderman) webb, A DJ on WBLS in NYC used to paly this every morning. I'd hear it befor going to school.

  • @lovethemuisc HAHA.. you are a true NEW YORKER.... thats going back!!

  • @port2344chester -Ain't that the truth, From the boogie down Bronx, PEACE

  • @port2344chester - Do you remember a midnight shift DJ, who's last name was william's she was on WBLS. I think it was wendy, like the one on T.V. ? She voice alone was worth tuning in for.

  • @lovethemuisc Hey Portchester, this was the track for WBLS on air person Ken "Spider Man" Web. I also

grew up listening to "The Chief Rocker, Frankie Crocker", Ken Web and all the other. This track was also

played on WRVR. I think that they were at 106.1fm. Les Davis and one or two of the DJ's from BLS were there as well.

  • @sp4armyguy1 What y'all know about WRVR & WBLS?!! LOL!!

    Taking it back!!!

  • @khaliamoon I was born and raised in NYC. WBLS had Frankie Crocker, Ken Webb, Marion Etoile Watson and G.Keith Alexander who later went to work at WRVR. I had the chance to meet Les Davis and Angela Boffill

at J&R Music store when she released her LP "Something About You". I got a autographed copy of that LP. I also went to see Les Davis when he worked out of Michaels Pub on E.53rd St. near the post office and again when he was at 101 Greene St..

  • @sp4armyguy1 lol! You know what's up then! I remember all of the names. Ironically, I had moved to North Carollna and guess who was on the radio there? Ken Webb! I got a chance to speak to him on the phone. I met Yvonne Mobley one day on my way to see my aunt at work. I remember Vaughn Harper, G. Keith Alexander and the whole gang. Frankie Crocker was the man. Controversial but he did things his way. Chuck Leonard had a nice voice. Loved him.

    But yeah, you're on point!!!!

  • @sp4armyguy1 Sorry to jump in your convo but are you referring to the same Les Davis that hosts the Real Jazz station on SiriusXM?

  • @sp4armyguy1 Yes you are so right man you are killing me with the flash back old school FM stations!

  • @port2344chester Didn't Ken Webb Dj on WWRL.?

  • @port2344chester Didn't Ken Webb Dj on WWRL also ? Let's NOT forget Gary Byrd who aletr changed his name to Imahotep or something close to that.

  • @sp4armyguy1 Yes you are right..Kenny Spider WEBBBB & yes Gary Byrd..if im not mistaken i think he made a few classic dance traxs also one being the crown!

  • @lovethemuisc Didn't Ken Webb also DJ at WWRL.?

  • Had an intramuralB-ball team called "Spiderman Corporation" We used to do layup lines on this cut. Then we put our hands together and asked "What's the name of this funk? " SPIDERMAN !!!

  • old school funk done with a jazz twist...i remember this one was hot...whats the name of this funk.......

  • Right! I still say they should have made this the theme to the live action SpiderMan show from the 70s.

It's funky funky fo funky y'all!

  • @1958earl SPIDERMAN :D

  • ahhh yesssss good funk music. nothing in the world like it

  • Poor Ramsey Lewis's jazz fans...this must have made their heads explode even worse than Herbie Mann's Hi-Jack. Good thing Ramsey couldn't give two shits what people think and just lays down what he feels, because this is some of the rawest ass-tearing funk EVER!

  • maaaaaaaan I used to love this song as a kid....never found out who it was.......and every time I ask folk my age about it !! they say maaan I dont remember that shit......thank GOD 4 you tube

  • me too man...

  • I know exactly what you mean

  • Awright! Let's make this the closing theme for Spide-rman 4!

  • I was two years old with a HUUUUUGE afro!!! GET DOWN!!

  • ... hadn't heard this since I was a kid in Cleveland O-hi-O...out Christmas shopping with my older brother J.D...gliding through the slushy streets in his bright yellow AMC Ambassador... lots of snow on the sides of the roads...about 6-6:30 in the evening...I remember the car's interior smelling strongly of Malted Milk Balls, Yukon jack, Slim Jims and weed... weed's how I lost my first wife...

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!! I was barely a teen back in the 70's when I first heard this cut. Thank you so much for the memories!

  • yessss! The one and only RAMSEY LEWIS AND THE RAWEST FUNKIEST FUNKNESS, VERSION OF A SPIDER-MAN THEME!
