Italian national team and clubs are crazy :D They score goals usually in the start of the match ( in 11' against Serbia in 46 sec, and Milan vs Barca in 20' sec. ) , or in the last moments of the match ( here is great example ).

my favorite match ever...Italy attacking all out with 5 forwards in a world cup semi final against the arch nemesis germany in what they called the fortress dortmund...a surreal evening, it by far outlasts the actual final against france in my memory, although in both cases I celebrated through the night on the streets in italy :)

He was unbelievable in the 2 group stage matches I remember those games as yesterday, he gave the team many balls they just werent able to score before they went through the group stages. Zidane clearly desurved the golden ball, he was by far the best player in the tournament if it wasnt for the red card in the final he would´ve won Fifa player of the year again for the fourth time.

Mafia in this game? I think not. This is the BEST WORLD CUP SQUAD I have seen( my first World Cup was in 94). The best goal keeper, strong defense led by a World Class Defender like Cannavaro (Italy always has the best defense anyways), solid midfield ( Gattuso destroying and Pirlo creating), and deadly counter-attack up front (every pass Totti made was genious and Toni/Del Piero/Inzagui are World Class). They beat Germany in their own soil in a SEMI-FINAL.

He is exactly right, Grossos created it by fooling the referee, Neil really did nothing wrong, and therefore nothing to create the penalty...
I don't agree. Neill clearly hindered Grosso's feet whit his hand and then with the elbow. I think Grosso felt the foul and let himself go down without trying to keep playing. Nobody was completely innocent in that game. Btw I suspect that inverting roles, both Italy and Australia would have complained the same way.

And the elbow did not hinder Grosso's feet. Grosso was attempting to make the contact with Neil, and in the process his foot was coming to kick Neil in the side of the ribs, hence why Neil brought his elbow and hand down. But yet again Grossos still made the contact with Neil, and Grosso then took the dive. No penalty.
I know, apparently Australia style is to dive orthogonally to obstructing an opponent with all their body instead of fighting for the ball and risking to lose the man. Eventually using hands.
Unfortunately, according to a Fifa rule, obstruction and contact before touching the ball in the box is penalty, even if the victim let himself go down. That's what referee said. I understand resentment and disappointment, but I think nobody can claim to own "the truth".

He went in for a slide tackle clearly (yes a shit slide tackle, but still a slide tackle) and completed it about a second and a half before Grosso touched him. The rule is that once the slide tackle is completed, it is deemed that the attacker fell over the defender.

Classic match! Both teams deserve huge sporting respect for the creativity, discipline and technique on display. While the Germans did their traditional,praiseworthy fight to the end dance, the Italians swept their past aside--Lippi put four forwards on in the final minutes. That was tenably a sign of respect for Lehman's performance in shootouts. At the same time, Pirlo's inventiveness and Grosso's clutch performance capped a spectacular night for football!

Epic match was epic. It's strange, but when you get these on-edge matches, my brain always tells me that Italy is going to lose (bad experiences like 94 world cup and 2000 Euro Cup final). When Italy came out on top of this game in the last seconds with those two BEAUTIFUL goals, it was one of the most awesome moments of my life!

@hizzha0601 They lost to Switzerland. Villa should have been sent off against Honduras. Villa scored against Chile and Torres dived to get Chilean player sent off (Chile outplayed them with 10 men). Villa’s goal against Portugal was offside and a Portuguese player was sent off because a Spanish player pretended to get hit. Paraguay’s goal was wrongly disallowed and Paraguay’s missed penalty should have been retaken for encroachment. Germany should have gotten a penalty against Spain.

@hizzha0601 Iniesta should have been sent off against the Netherlands. Puyol should have been sent off also. Netherlands were twice denied clear corners (one in regular time and the other in the second extra time period). There was a clear foul on Elia that was ignored which led to the counterattack that led to Spain’s winning goal. They only scored 8 goals in 7 games. Wow, powerful Spain.

this italy squad was legendary. the defense and buffon especially. i think they only got scored on in the whole cup twice. one was an own goal against the usa i believe and the other was the penalty zidane scored in the final...that's amazing

Mafia in this game? I think not. This is the BEST WORLD CUP SQUAD I have seen( my first World Cup was in 94). The best goal keeper, strong defense led by a World Class Defender like Cannavaro (Italy always has the best defense anyways), solid midfield ( Gattuso destroying and Pirlo creating), and deadly counter-attack up front (every pass Totti made was genious and Toni/Del Piero/Inzagui are World Class). They beat Germany in their own soil in a SEMI-FINAL.

@Jagwa3 well to be fair, we should have atleast gone into extra time with Italy, not necesserally gone into the semi. But as the commentator said "Grosso, the man who created the penalty against Australia". He is exactly right, Grossos created it by fooling the referee, Neil really did nothing wrong, and therefore nothing to create the penalty...

I don't agree. Neill clearly hindered Grosso's feet whit his hand and then with the elbow. I think Grosso felt the foul and let himself go down without trying to keep playing. Nobody was completely innocent in that game. Btw I suspect that inverting roles, both Italy and Australia would have complained the same way.

@MrSegheANastro Well I'm sorry, but you're wrong with that. Australia's style of play is to not go down for the penalty, but go for the goal.
And the elbow did not hinder Grosso's feet. Grosso was attempting to make the contact with Neil, and in the process his foot was coming to kick Neil in the side of the ribs, hence why Neil brought his elbow and hand down. But yet again Grossos still made the contact with Neil, and Grosso then took the dive. No penalty.

I know, apparently Australia style is to dive orthogonally to obstructing an opponent with all their body instead of fighting for the ball and risking to lose the man. Eventually using hands.
Unfortunately, according to a Fifa rule, obstruction and contact before touching the ball in the box is penalty, even if the victim let himself go down. That's what referee said. I understand resentment and disappointment, but I think nobody can claim to own "the truth".

He went in for a slide tackle clearly (yes a shit slide tackle, but still a slide tackle) and completed it about a second and a half before Grosso touched him. The rule is that once the slide tackle is completed, it is deemed that the attacker fell over the defender.
