Always remember this game, fair play to halifax, you destroyed us on the day. worst day in albion history? maybe but it was a great story to be involved in
Can I ask why were West Brom playing in the 1st Round? I thought the top 2 tiers only entered the FA Cup at the 3rd Round, but great video though, nice to some Cup action from down the years as I'm too young to remember this
As a West Brom fan, I also sometimes do the kit (kit manager full title) for Chorley Football Club. Last season we had a right-back called Dave German, who was the number 2 for this game.
He would often rib me about this game - which he showed me on video - as Dave is now a firefighter, aged about 35 I think. He is no longer at Chorley FC.
A great bloke, and this video doesn't half bring some awful memories back - although it's funny really!
I think Dave German had trials back at Halifax this close season. The late, great Jeff Astle's face was ashen at half time during this match. Have you seen the Halifax vs Chorley game on my channel? The Unibond won't let me video anymore unfortunately.
great post fuzzy mate!! brilliant ball out of defence by peake and what a gorgeous pass by patterson to set up saunders! come on town, let's bring on back the good times!
mate these old videos are great for the younger fans like me to watch as well as the older ones too I'm sure to bring back old memories - keep these gems coming!
I was there. just getting myself in the mood before we play Charlton tomorrow.

I think it was because they finished in the bottom 10 in the old 1st Division (i.e. the 2nd tier) the previous season. Hey - I could be wrong.

Thanks for that :), once again great video

Actually, they'd been in the third tier the previous season - yes, they did sink that far.

West Brom were in what is now League One during this match. They won the Play Off final to get promoted at the end of this season.

So you can imagine Adam's face when he scored that terrific goal, and celebrated with us in the dugout!
Nice to be involved with a fixture with a terrific atmosphere!

Watched the Chorley game yes, my mate Adam Crossley rounding the keeper!
I believe Germs did have a go at getting back into the Halifax side after such a long exile! He still lives in the town too.
As for the Chorley game, young Adam Crossley signed in the close-season, and was always lively and bright, but just couldn't get that elusive goal.
Every game as kit man, I would have a word in Adam's ear pre-match, and just tell him in the dressing room, "I'm still waiting Adam!"

Steve Saunders...one of the great Town players.
Did he not retire from football because of some problem with his heart?

Yes, I wonder if he ever did become a school teacher?
