My name is John H. Vargo, Publisher I am dong a story on microbes. Can your scanning lectron Microsope do a video fo microbes actually doing something. My email is vargojhvargo@aol.com my cell is 845 401 2699
Okay this is a little off topic this is concerning Diffraction Patterns i need help on understanding the planes of atoms such as 001, 100 etc. i know there is an incident spot which to my understanding correspond as 000 now do i know which planes correspond to which mineral or element i know this sounds silly but i'm having a hard time with this in class any help is appreciated
Wow these videos have helped allot tomarow i start an intro class on Sample Prep. and use of the SEM and i know a little of what he is demonstrating but by watching these videos i feel more confident about the class all that's left is the hands-on part to my classes thank you very much for the video
Do you ever use LaB6 (lanthanum hexaboride) filaments instead of tungsten. I read somewhere that LaB6 has some advantages over tungsten for certain applications.
@Apollomoon17 An SEM with a LaB6 crystal generally does out-perform one with a thermionic tungsten filament, but the performance characteristics of any thermionic SEM would not compare favorably to a Field-Emission SEM (which uses a tungsten crystal rather than a filament).
@Apollomoon17 I haven’t used any thermionic SEMs before, but the only advantage I’m aware of is they’re less expensive than FESEM. If you know of some application where LaB6 is preferred to FE, I’d be interested in learning more about that.

nice demo. Can I borrow it?
If so, how soon can I get it.

@cmditr no man, you misunderstood. I mean the "microscope" NOT the vid. haha

@cire254 I suggest you watch the videos on TEM or search for information on Low Energy Electron Diffraction.

I guess that the Lithography Alignment Keys (on a wafer) has to be done/watched live. How they do it so fast (vacuuming the chamber)
That means you can make a video at the atomic level?
The virology researchers are using the same EM ?
How do they mechanically isolate a 60nm antivirus and grow it?
it is possible to build/use 100nm tweezers ?
How can you prevent the electrocution of the virus/antivirus when touched by a nm tweezer.

very professional presentation. Public speaking for that long at that quality is a lot harder than it looks, you did great.

Can you use the SEM to make smaller, more energy efficient, and powerful CPUs or denser SSDs?
cespedeslv 1 year ago
@cespedeslv
The SEM can be used with ebeam lithography to make simple prototype devices. It is not used for mass production because it is slow and complicated.
