They are laminated solid western red cedar. We use a marine adhesive that is entirely waterproof, so these are old school boat building techniques. There are a couple of different methods, stacked and blocked and it really depends on what we need to achieve which one is more practical. We are starting to do laminations here in the shop for private clients these days.
Thanks for the kindness-- The decking is pre-finished Western Red Cedar. These days we are sourcing Kiln Dried Red Cedar, which doesn't have to be air dried before applying finish. Absolutely beautiful deck! Great design too, I love the curves, railing treatment and like the incorporated stone patio/landing. What material was used for the decking?
