Hate the use of focus groups -- works for affinity, but not for interaction design. Where is the observed behavior phase or data? Also, how many users work in a room with a bunch of other people and have a 50" screen mounted on a wall?
Remember--what people say they do or would do often isn't what they do. Watching real users doing real stuff is much better.
