  • @JazzyBelle30 because lalah is her favorite singer

  • I love this tribute. Nothin but great singers.

  • I love Anita with all my heart and soul. that woman has grace and an essence of standing strong through hardships. I love and respect her for it forever! :)

  • No words to desribe how sweet and syrupy and rich and buttery and smooth LALAH's voice is. She is vocal desert. LOVE IT!

TAMIA's vocals were stunning and beautiful. Pure. She soared. AMAZING!

DIONE was strong. She brought the soul! ROCKED IT!

    GUALOPE was surprisingly good. SWEET!

RACHELLE FERRIS. There are no words that can touch that woman. SPEECHLESS!

  • TAMiA is a VOCAL BEAST..LOVE HER!!

  • this is a nice tribute. but it wasn't as nice like chaka khan

  • is it me or is anita wearing the same dress she wore at the 2011 BET awards?

  • @Amani1653 LMFAO I SWEAR I SAID THE SAME THING TO MYSELLF BUT IT WASNT LOOL

  • I love Tamia

  • Kem and Rachelle Farrell OMG! All sang great but these two tore it up on the Anita Baker tribute!

  • 9:12 omg i love that performance

  • rip tupac is anita baker half indian because anita is a hindu name?

  • Who is the ONE idiot that disliked this!!! Ugh!!! I love Anita Baker!!!!

  • 01:22

    I'm in LOVE!

  • OMG!!!!! They should have ended the show with this. This was so awesome and the love that Anita showed and felt was priceless. I love them all.

  • i love how anita baker puts her hands on hips like "Girl u better sang that" when Deion Farris started singing. im upset how everyone who had sung is sooo underrated. this is PURE talent

  • Deion ferris omg.. She torn it down... And tamia did her thing i wish they record them as singles wouldn't mind hearing them singing it all day

  • @Dayoungrockstarjay

I can not agree more! Dionne Faris ripped it all! She killed it!

  • The Legendary Ms. Baker! This Womans Vocal Style Is UNLIKE Any Other Female Performer. CLASSIC!!!

  • lol @dlastqueen! I mean shit didnt they tear that shit up baby!

  • SING LALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

  • @DaRuff1 Amen!!!

  • Incredible !!

  • this speech was one of the most epic speeches i've ever heard at an award ceremony... and i've seen my share...

I was blown away by it...it was real...

  • deion ferris ripped it at the end!

  • ChezyVaun Here goes: Caught up in the Rapture, Giving you the best that I got, No one in the world, ......... Angel, Same ol' love. Missed 1 I think!

  • Rachelle Farrell is sooooooooooooo underated......Her VOICE is like nothing on this planet! Glad to see her included in this tribute which was very well deserve

  • what were the names of the songs that the women sang for this tribute?? im tryna download them all lol

  • @ChezyVaun See Khayalicope above; the addition is "Been So Long" b/t "No One..." and "Angel." It's on "Rapture"

  • Can BET do this type of thing every year? IJS... this is talent!

  • Kem & Rochelle were the best..I've never heard singing like that before. So beautiful! But the overall tribute was so great.

  • @jbaby214 they were great!

  • Janelle, India, Mary, why weren't you all up there sanging?

  • damn tamia did her thang and shout out to the big homie grant hill for being there for her through her sickness.

  • Nice truibute, I would of loved to see Toni Braxton singing one of her songs. Layla and Tamia were the best to me.

  • I LOVE TAMiA. SO BEAUTIFUL & HER VOiCE IS ALWAYS ON POiNT!!

  • Anita stood at the right time - they were all FABULOUS but LALAH!!! O.M.G!!!

  • Tamia rocked her part, hands down she was the best! I was amazed that Dionne Farris and Goapele were included, but glad they did include them. I still consider Dionne and Goapele B rated artist or underground artist, and I really do like them. They brought some fun to the stage, Goapele is beautifual. Kem and Rochelle, what can i say, they get an A+ for creativity! I do not think people realized how they worked the song, just take a look at Anita's face. Lalah had to follow a hard act.

  • Anita Baker is beautiful. I love to hear her sing and her speaking voice is beautiful just like her singing

  • Tamia, lelah, and the last two girls killed it .

  • I LOVE YOU LALAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this song is the best of anita baker..............love the way they all came together to award her no one cn out sing anita baker she is in a class of her own........... she is R&B queen!

  • Soul Train and BET got it right with this one..!

  • Incredible!!!! The essence of our excellence and pride were on display. It was a presentation that made me very proud of our culture and accomplishments. Seeing Rochelle Farrell, Lalah, Kem and Dionne Farris made my heart smile. Big ups to BET for finally providing our audience with a presentation worthy of praise. This tribute could not happen for a person. The quality of a tribute is predicated by the quality of its honoree. Ms. Baker is a class act!!!

  • I say if u can't sing live u cant sing at all, these perfomer's on here were real singers.

  • This was by far the best music tribute I have ever seen! Pure singers!

  • @tagirl25 most people who call themselves singers these days jus do not have the talent. The old schooler's really believed in letting their voices do the talking 4 them

man these new cats need to take some lessons.

  • amaizinhg!

  • Tamia can sing her ass off

  • Where are my ol skoolers? Does Lalah sound like her daddy or what!? She can SANG with that smoky voice!

  • MY FAV R&B singer ANITA is a beast baby!!! & THESE WOMEN ALLLLLLL DID EXCEPTIONAL!!!! WOW !!!!

  • GOAPELE!!!!! BAY AREA, STAND UP!!!

  • There will NEVER be another ANITA BAKER!!!!

  • I cannot get enough of Tamia, her sultriness and class takes me to another level, sisters need to take lessons from her! DIONNE FERRIS where you been baby always room in my heart for you doll!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, they couldn't have found better singers for this tribute to Ms. Anita......LALAH, TAMIA and RACHELLE FARELL BLEW ME AWAY........TRUE VOCALISTS!!!!!!!!!

  • These performers did good, but sorry, none of them can touch an Anita Baker song like she can ... Anita just has that voice that cannot be duplicated. I've loved her from when she first came out, and I still listen to her music. And yes, she is a beautiful person inside & out.

  • I met Anita Baker in Grosse Pointe at a coffee shop! When she walked in they were playing Sweet Love....She was like Wow that is odd! Anita walked over to my husband and I and said hello took a sit next to us and ask how we were doing. At that time we were talking about getting my husband a CBR Bike. Anita Baker told me to let him get his toy. After a while he will get tired of it and put it away. She was so right. Thanks Anita Baker.....

  • MAN!....TAMIA STOOD OUT FOR ME!!! She should drop another album. She is talented and is Classy with it, and sets one of the best examples for these young girls to follow. She has proven that you dont have be half naked or in skin tight everything to be successfull and loved.

  • OOoooh.... Tamia rocked it, Dion Ferris rocked it, and Faith Evans... mmmm honey, goodness! I am now a Tamia fan and also Tamia. Leila did wonderfully too.

  • im glad that centric can appreciate true talent. had all the RIGHT people doing this tribute. i <3s it :-)

  • I love Ms. Anita Baker!! Soulful, Jazzy and Classy. What a triple threat. This too was my best part of the show, although I thought the entire show was fab. I've attended a few in the past and to me this was just as good if not better as it has a relevant feel. Very proud of Ms. Debra for polishing BET and making black people proud again.

  • who was the girl sining with Dion Ferris?

  • @PRNeneChulo Goapele...

  • me my mom my dad we all ran to the set when this came on my favorite part is when GOAPELE came out WHAT CAN I SAY I AM FROM THE BAY oh and Faith Evans was tight too didn't too much care for puerto rican De Barge, and where is fine brother at?

  • me my mom my dad we all ran to the set when this came on my favorite part is when GOAPELE came out WHAT CAN I SAY I AM FROM THE BAY

  • I LOVE ANITA BAKER!

  • wat is the name of the woman singing with the piano??

  • @sexylipton Rochelle Farrell. Check her out on Itunes.

  • @infiniteblaq08 yes, check out MISS FERRELL. I got a chance to see Ms. Thang live awhile back and ya'll this woman is B-A-D (in the best way!). A talent that is overlooked at times. She reminds me of the late, great, amazing Phyllis Hyman, who I miss dearly. Two very talented gals who have amazing range.

  • @sexylipton THE LEGENDARY Rachelle Ferrell!!!!

  • Thanks for posting, but you missed El Debarge's tribute after she spoke.

  • there was more talent in this one tribute than the whole program.....

  • vanie0295 baby i;ll love you till the end of time and for ever and all ways kiss kiss hug hug

  • Kem and Shelly did it for me, Been So Long is one of my most favorites by Anita. love how they made this their own and not tried to do Anita. Only Anita could do Anita.

  • @dabodyrobinson who is Shelly?? I think you mean Rochelle Farrell, lol. Ya'll this woman is so overlooked but so utterly amazing. Please google her and get to know this amazing talent. I promise you'll remember her name in the future.

  • This was so good! I love Anita Baker and these performers did so good! I was sleep on how great a voice Dionne Farris (hope I got her name right) has. And Lelah Hathaway, Tamia...im just speechless. Makes me want to pull out all my Anita Baker albums and go down memory lane :)

  • I was waiting for her to get a tribute from an award show she is and was one of the best.

  • Watching the Soul Train Music Awards rerun... And absolutely loved how ALL these beautiful black women KILLED it! They sang the ish outta Anita Baker's songs! Go head now!

  • @Bruque i just wish they got toni braxton in on the tribute..

  • @sagehiphop I love Toni but who knows if she was available. I didn't see her in the audience or at least they didn't mention her as attending on any media content I've read. Plus I guess they can't get everybody, even though like I said, I love me some Ms. Toni Braxton! lol So happy for Anita Baker. What an amazing person and talent.

  • Everyone gave a STELLAR Performance for Ms. Anita Baker except for Faith Evans. Her performance was horrible!!!!! No need to elaborate because if you watch the tribute then you'll know what I'm talking about.

  • @bigcountryvma1 what was so horrible about it?

  • Everybody did a great job. Some of my favorite singers! and i was gflad to see my all time fave Faith up there.

  • Chrisette Michele and Tamia's performances were STELLAR! They were so smooth and sensual, then here comes Faith Evans hollerin' trying to catch her breath and singing way too hard; she was awful. I LOVED every one else, But Chrisette and Tamia stole the show for me. ESPECIALLY Tamia.

  • Good lookin out megalovemusic2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i love faith performance she put her spin on it just like she did with the Patti tribute

  • @MrCubanito221 she sounded so good.

  • @MrCubanito221 she sounded so good. She sung the verse (i think she chose to start with the second verse cuz the first is too low) just like Anita did, sung the hook and went in at the end. Faith has doesnt have a jazzy type voice like chrisette and tamia or the others so she had to work HER gift. for the short time she was up there she did well.

  • This is too amazing for words. I love Anita Baker so so much. This is certainly a long overdue tribute.

Amazing tribute for Ms. Anita from these amazing artists.

NEGL, I cried watching this. I shit you not guys, Anita has that power to make me spazz over hearing/seeing her singing her songs and make me go "awwwww" then goes to sing w/ her w/ goosebumps all over my body.

  • i could have done without faith evans performance and kem and rachelle farrelle's performance. faith evans sang the song to hard and i was just confused with what kem and rachelle were singing. kem said that they were singing been so long but the only thing from that song that they sang correctly was been so long. THEY SOUNDED GOOD, but it just through me all the way off.

  • @sallymeashubok Kem and Rachelle are jazz singers and they knew Anita Baker would appreciate a jazz rendition, which is what they gave her. If you've read up on Anita, she too loves and sings jazz.

  • @miamac63utube i wasn't knockin their performance, i just didn't get their performance when you have everyone else actually singing anita's actual songs. Kem and Rachelle sounded very good and I know anita is a jazz singer. It just threw me off because I was expecting to hear the actual song like all the others

  • This was beyond beautiful!! Dionne Farris!!! OMG!!

  • This was my favorite part of the show. These women are beyond talented. Anita Baker introduced Tamia to her husband, Grant Hill. It was cute how Tamia put up her hand and did a semi-wink to Anita during the song.

  • @Tamia1478 I saw that bit of info on the preshow...they are such a cute couple.

  • @Tamia1478 i though i was the only one that caught that wink

  • @Tamia1478 - i noticed the same thing.. beautiful moment truly not to be missed.. i felt that whole performance

  • @Tamia1478

She winked because Anita Baker introduced her to her husband...approriate song huh?

  • thank you for posting this!! I love anita baker, and all of the ladies did a wonderful job paying tribute to her!!

  • Its about time! She's my fave singer !

  • Anita Baker is a beautiful person inside and out, and really deserved this tribute. What a special woman. One of the best singers in the world.

  • @bionicrat Seem seems that way...very humble!!!

  • Long time coming !!

  • @CarlaMills it was!!!
