I was getting 3 tracking cookies a day, always the same 3 company's with IE. Switch to Fire Fox and I don't get them anymore. Even this moron said Fire Fox handles cookies differently.
yes robots are our friends dweeb do you know what a digital cage is well were all biulding one youve never had a problem with it its because you have not thought about it.
i play a game and someone hacked me on that, then i passed my virus scan and it showed: issues found 10 tracking cookies.. could that have something to do with it?
i looked up youtube and searched this vid and i got 6 cookies just doing that (one was a random disney poster ad!) good thing i youtube with my ipod thats ad and cookie free.
hey can u help me? i got a notic from norton that i was attacked by a virus. but i clicked x by acidint!!! and my norton cant find the virus when i ran scan!!! what can i do?
erase it and disable third part cookies. Also tyurn prompting on for cookies if you want to see who actully tracks your browsing by dumping cookies on your PC
@skiffy08 Yes u can. Go to tools, internet options, privacy, sites, then u type in the name of the tracking cookie, like Adbrite (.) com. without the (). Then click block. U will never get that cookie again. If u just remove the cookies they will come back the next time u go to the site. I've blocked about 300. I get a new one about every week or two. I get the cookies names from Comcast toobar, I run Comcast Pest Control, it names the cookies then I type them in, and block them.
Chris Pirillo is not a knowledgeable person when it comes to hardware architecture and software principles (like cookies). His knowledge is very shallow and simplistic.
Chris Pirillo, you shouldn't have an opinion on cookies. You do not know what they are, how they work, and what they are capable of.
Keep being one of those "geeks" who are also hip, cool, and sociable, like those guys at G4. You're much better at that. Talk about iPhone and iPad. Stay away from computer science.
avg removed 278 tracking cookies. I changed my setting to medium high where I had had it. I don't mind regular cookies-- espicially oreos and chocolate chip! *drools*
@blueleafdown Um, well, depends on the browser... in IE, just go to the status bar, and where it says Internet|Protected mode on, double click it and then it's easy to figure out.
@blueleafdown hm? Oh, I just changed avg's settings to scan for tracking cookies and scan whole pc. But it u use windows xp, you can press run type cookies and delete them. Or just delete with browsing history. I thought u meant how i changed to medium high.
i went to you tube a couple weeks ago and i got one i dont know if is a virus or scam or cokies the thing is that it even talk and says YOU WON EVERY TIME I GO TO A SITE and i can fix it

@casperack i did that on my laptop now if a double tap my mouse pad does nothing BEFORE it ALWAYS would click on a double tap. did it again now the built in web cam does not work
@casperack Wow thank you so much. I downloaded Ccleaner when I got windows 7 to help with registry problems. And wow I completely forgot that it got rid of tracking cookies.

MRU - Most Recently Used, those are just lists that record what you did well.. recently haha, they are harmless but for privacy is better to delete them
Thanx for the info. And well, All the cookies and that MRU Object actualy did go in the "Privacy Threats" Folder, Does that mean that it might let a third party see what i'm doing? Or what? Never the less, Are 114 Cookies harmfull if they are many?
Im not really sure but is better for you to delete them :P, no they are not harmful, just annoying because they can appear random pop-ups. not really "see", they just keep track of what you do and what you type, but safe to delete no harm at all and 114 cookies is because is like 1-2 cookies per site you visited thats why there are alot but just delete them and all will be fine. :)
They can't see wht you type. Only if what you type is sent to a website and that website stores what you typed in a cookie and then stores that information in your cookies folder.
I think tracking cookies are almost the same as if you own 10 websites, and you can with your "tracking cookie" see which of those websites a user has been on.
i dont get it. my norton tells me in his scan that it found a trackin cookie and has deleted it buuttt the thing is dat each time i run a scan it doesn da same thing, it allways finds a tracing cookie and delets it, i dont get it is it bad?
I hate cookies because I feel that marketers are getting research data (for free), and I am getting zilch! Youtube has tons of third party cookies like ebay, and other major companies. If you block enough of them, you can not sign into youtube. It is a sneaky, underhanded business practice.
its true. but you need to know that YouTube has to make money. Of course it is free to use youtube, but if they don't have enough money to maintain the site, maybe the next time you upload a video you'll have to pay a penny...
LULZ. we can edit your cookies through exploits. therefore they can be bad when put into the wrong hands and depending on how long the session is to get the saved passwords. LULZ. but in most cases. definition=A message given to a Web browser by a Web server. The browser stores the message in a text file. The message is then sent back to the server each time the browser requests a page from the server.
I love cookies, they help me alot cuz im always learning about gimp on youtube and theres always 3 gimp tutorials added to the 'Recommended For You' colume which helps me.
is it good or bad because every time i go on the internet i get a tracking cookie when i scan my computer and every time i dnt go on i dnt have one ??

Me too! i wounder why...
Yinshow 3 years ago
Its because of Advertising services.
Services like Adbrite or doubleclick leave 3rd party cookies on your computer.
Use PeerGuardian to block them.
