Do you honestly believe that the UN would tax the US for using the seas?
Do you honestly believe the UN would force US companies to transfer technology when its been at the forefront in PROTECTING US patents with IP rulings?
Are you so afraid of the UN having a little power? Are you so afraid of a world where, God forbid, the US is NOT running the place?
Remember, having 8 of 9 super carriers does not give you right over the sea - its open to all
The US is not running the place, we are however paying for most of it. That needs to stop too.
The way I see it is that even if all the people in the UN were happy and friendly, there is no need to give them more power for anything. In fact I would argue that they need much less power.
It's just common sense really, and for the other nations involved they could end up on the s**t end of this deal if, as you say, the UN is on the forfront for the US.
seriously, ownership of land and water work the same. you also own the air above it. there are something like 9 supercarriers in the world. we own 8 and england owns 1. so that would mean that the UN controls the water beneath them and the air that our planes fly over. thus, they could dictate where our navy goes. or they could tax OUR navy for using THEIR water. sly UN bastards.
Do any of you know the story with Owen Wilson called "Behind Enemy Lines" was a true story? The United nations on board would not allow them to go pick those pilots up. Thus, one died, and the other he refused to let them rescue. Only when Gene Hackman(the actor) said - forget this, we're going in to pick our man up - did he get rescued. Yes, he had to retire or lose his job or be demoted to a desk job or some such. This is only the beginning to tie our Navy's & Coast Guards hands.
I've read all 240 pages of the Law of the Sea Treaty. Simply put, it's gay. If you get in a car wreck with a member of the ITLOS, you're fucked. If we ratify this, there's gonna be one hell of a party in Hamburg.
Interesting to see this "good professor" talking on any issue with the same authority. What backs these claims? Who is that speaker and what are the sources?
Not only that but I understand that it undermines our patent laws. Patent rights are protected by the constitution specifically I believe and an idea could be stolen by a foreign entity even if protected by US patent.
You neglected to mention than LOST allows the UN to force US companies to transfer technology and knowledge to other countries. Yuck! Call your Senator's office and tell them why you oppose ratification.
Never expect anything but whitewash from anyone it seems! It's so difficult to escape the lies and obfuscations, even from the new media! Jesus. Alex Jones is the only authority on truth, and he still believes in God! jesus[sic]
I have an even simple script for this:
The law of the sea treaty is a UN treaty.
The UN is bad. therefore all UN treaties are bad, including lost.
Thanks for watching this 11 second guide!
