hey looking for recommendations for some hookah bowls. Right now I have a large Vortex and am loving it. I want something though for dryer blends or any other brand than starbuzz and fantasia. Suggestions please.

Funny story, i went to a tobacco shop to buy some sheesha the other day and the woman working there claimed to be a professional. She was showing us different kinds of sheesha and hookahs when finally she started talking about the sheesha, but instead calling it sushi. Goes to show how edumacated she really is lol.

I just ran out of coconaras and I'm down to these exotica silver tabs and having a little trouble with heat management, can I have some tips? I used to put 4 coconara cubes and I could do one rotation and I was fine, but these tabs are driving me up the wall on my vortex bowl. I tend to smoke mostly fumari stuff, but I'm dabbling in hookahfina and hitting new roughness on both.

you should make a list of which shisha's work best with which bowls. also a list of which shisha's can handle more heat and which ones cant

I got the same bowl, i use one coal and wrap some aluminium around the bowl to preserve the heat.

Jake, I've never thought to poke that few of holes at that size. I generally do several hundred tiny holes with a safety pin. Does your method make that much of a difference? I'd try it for myself but I'm out of shisha right now.

@XXmynameisliamXX It's a mod. There is a heba diffuser at the end of the downstem. This breaks up the smoke into smaller bubbles. It makes the hookah quieter and the quality of the smoke better.

Kinda new to the whole Hookah thing. So i bought one, its a 12 incher nd i have jus a reg hose. N i was wondering if the taller ur stem is, the better hits u gets with out having to bust a lung to get a good cloud lik u are.

Damn thats some nice smoke. Im still trying to get my smoke and water levels just right. I ordered some coco nara coals and a vortex bowl. I need to pack it better I keep burning the hookah and it tastes like crap after about 30 minutes.

I've been using to little ice water I think as well... burns too much with more than one coal.

thanks so much with all your help. I have a few more questions. 1 is a chinese grommet the same as a mod grommet and do you just slip the chinese one over it when you use your vortex bowl and where do you get most of your supplies from.

what groment do you use with your vortex bowl. I figure the km's are similar to the mz so the bowl port would be the same size.

@Antmanpictures On my home setup I have to use 1 Egyptian grommet and 1 Chinese slip on grommet. Even a thick Chinese should work for these.

I'm using a funnel Bowl, with one golden river small coal.

Is it okay to just move the coal every 5 minutes?

sometimes the smoke tastes burnt so we move the coal to another spot.

@KevinHetVogelbekdier It's definitely OK, but in my experience, it burns the bowl out quicker. Try to get your hands on a quality coconut coal, and you will see that you will only have to play with the coal once or twice throughout the session.

My problem does not lie that the grommet is oversize its that the bowls opening is very big but I didn't get a grommet with it so, I am going to purchase a Chinese grommet see how that works thanks.

I have a vortex bowl that won't fit my my hookah

When I put it on, with any grommet it wobbles and seems like it will fall off. I have a MZ Cleopatra. My other bowls fit fine but the vortex bowl seems to be just to big for some reason, an suggestions?

@Antmanpictures Have you tried using a smaller Egyptian grommet? The chinese thick ones that vortex bowls usually come with are very over sized for Egyptian pipes like KM's & MZ's.

@kevjingle DId you chain smoke the entire bowl by chance? The water level should be approximately an inch above the bottom of the stem. The diffuser won't really effect the smoke so much as it stabilizes the rig.

I followed your guidelines and whatnot as far as packing it, poking the holes, and heat management went, but I wasn't able to produce anywhere near as much smoke as you were. So I was just wondering what you did with your base. Also, I'm using Romman, not Starbuzz, so I'm wondering if that is making a significant difference as well.

i also bought a vortex bowl and i put 2 three kings coals and took 15-20 pulls and i barely get any smoke...so any suggestions?...i packed it lightly so the inner holes are visible

@npeezy92 Might want to try a different coal like Coconara's or Chronic Hookah. They seem to work best but the two 3 kings should have worked fine as well. I would tweak your packing method a little.

so i bought a razan hose and it does not fit in the hose "hole" of my 30 inch pharoah hookah...what can i do to make it fit?...the tip of my razan is too skinny and wont fit tightly...

I dont like coconut coals at all...even coconaras they never provide me with enough heat even with a wind cover! I stick to quick lights much better!

@bumbumurmum That's the first time I've heard that! I used quicklites for a long time before I got my hands on coconara's. During the first month of using coconut coals I hated them, but then one day everything just worked perfectly once I knew how to manage the heat/tobacco ratio.
