Doesn't look a big run-off area at that corner, compared to modern F1 circuits. They'd be going faster in the dry. Having said that, Donington is much better than any Tilke track.

Alboreto apparently knew from the first time he drove the 93 Lola that it was pretty horrendous. Bad handing & a very average (at that time) Ferrari V12.
Maybe not so average as the Porsche V12 he had in the Footwork for the first half of 91 though... :-s

When the car was first rolled out for testing, Alboreto got in the car, did an installation lap, came back to the pits, stopped the car and said: "We're dead."

You should notice that Luca was on the same level or even better over the whole season, then the highly considered Alboreto. Michele failed to qualify 5 times, Luca only two times.
Imho Luca is one of the most underrated F1-drivers of all time.

@flipsidedogchop Haha, wish I knew what the hell I meant by that comment a year ago. I think it's because I didn't follow the practice sessions back then, so I'd never seen that incident before. But I most certainly followed the racing as a young kid. :)
