Roger caused so many problems between Ed and Holly over Christina, that it caused them to divorce. Roger and Holly married--and then things got really insane. Look around youtube for videos about that time period. "Certain Rights" is one of the clip series about it. It starts with the rape and covers the aftermath. That was some awesome TV. I was home sick when it was going on. I didn't want to go back to school, it was so riveting LOL!
Roger was a complete jerk about Christina. He told Peggy, a woman he was in love with, that he was the child's father, and Peggy broke off their relationship. Roger was also having a lot of financial problems. He owned a club (Metro?), and I think he got in debt to the mob or somebody like that. With everything crazy in his life, Christina was the one good thing in it, and Roger became obsessed with seeing her and being her dad. Holly and Ed fought a lot about it. --Next post--
For whatever reason, they didn't annul the marriage, even though Holly was really young and rather immature. I think she wasn't sleeping with Ed at night for some reason. But she and Roger made up and started doing the nasty again. She chased Roger pretty hard. She ended up pregnant with Blake. There was some problem with Christina's health, of course, and it came out that Ed wasn't her father. Holly had to admit Roger was the child's father. That's when the trouble started. --Next post--
Holly was so upset at what she saw that she ran from the house--and got run over by a car. It paralyzed her for a while, and of course Ed was the doctor who took care of her. She kinda got attached to Ed, and knew he had a drinking problem; this was when it was causing all kinds of problems in Ed's life with women. He was dating another woman, and I can't remember how, but Holly somehow wound up in Vegas was Ed, got him drunk, and they got married. --Next post--
I was about 9 or 10 when all this started. Roger and Holly were lovers occasionally before Ed and Holly got together. Her family and Roger's sort of pushed them together. I think his Dad made Roger go out with Holly. Holly developed a huge crush on him, but Roger sort of blew Holly off at the time. What Holly didn't know was that Roger was sleeping with her sister in law! Holly happened to go visit her brother one day, and saw Roger with the brother's wife! --Next post--
Hey do you realize that Maureen Garrett worked with all of the "Michelles". Rachel Miner, Rebecca Budig, Bethany Joie Lenz, and Nancy St. Alban? It must be also surreal considering that she worked with all of the actresses who played Blake. Cheryl Lyn Brown, Elizabeth Denehy, Sherry Stringfield, and of course Liz Keifer.
Ed was Roger's oldest enemy on the show, and i love it when the writers touched on this after Zaslow's return. Hulswit's Ed would just get enraged at Roger, but i prefer Peter Simon's cool, understated & thoughtful work.
This kind of reminds me of the Rivalry between Ken Barlow & Mike Baldwin on The UK Soap Coronation St.. On the show Johnny Briggs (Mike Baldwin) would die and in real life Michael Zaslow would die.
Well, that's because Roger and Ed had history, LONG history! (starting from the early, mid 1970s!) Before Billy (came on the show in '82), Ross( who came on in '79) and even Alan (who came in 'in '77).
Don't you notice that Michael Zaslow and EJ Bonilla (Ex-Rafe) both had thick eyebrows. Wouldn't it have been funny if it was discovered that they were related.

Isn't Roger a real SOB when he goes for someone's Jugular. He could never do it as bad with anyone else as he does with Ed.

Thank you for these wonderful clips. I loved it when Roger would mess with Ed.

Oh, these three. Roger vs. Ed was always good stuff but really I can't see why there was ever any contest.
