I remember this when I was young. The ending with the trash can banging as a drum is truly hilarious! Another classic segment from Sesame Street that's on my favorites list.
Thanks for posting this! We've been looking for these sketches, particularly the Caveman Days - Walking to School sketch. Does anyone have that or any other Caveman / Caveperson Days Sketches? Please post them. Thanks again!
When Ernie was telling Bert what the weather was like every morning and Bert kept going to the door and looking and got tired of going to the door and made the first window in the cave.
"Son, take your trash to the dump! Don't leave it lying around the cave! In a few thousand years people are going to visit this cave. The last thing they're gonna want to see is your trash lying around!"
Bert looks like Tommy Chong here.

It's funny how Cave Ernie just invents a trash can from just his drum and that new drum is a trash can.(Rubbish bin.)

LOL 3:25.
As a kid I thought Bert's reaction was hilarious. (like an actor who doesn't know the whole script being suprised by a twist)

Hey! That's a trash can at the end, not a new drum.
Luckily Oscar wasn't in there! lol I wish the son used that trash can for his trash duty instead of his drum after he invented the trash can.

I believe this was re-broadcasted with the traditional and boring "Journey To Erny" segments
caa1000 4 years ago
No this copy comes from a 2006 brodcast which was when the "Jorney To Ernie" segments were dropped(thank god).

Great classic!
The narrator is obviously performed by Jerry Nelson. It's a no-brainer.
