  • So grateful for this video, I purchased this plant at Lowes on the discount rack a few weeks ago, really large and needed to be repotted. I got it for a steal of a deal and didn't know what it was, just that I had to have it. Thank you Diane, now I know I have a big beautiful Agave Desmettiana "Variegata"

  • @AWMsT wonderful , I know I use video a lot to find things out, glad it helped.. :) and also thanks for subscribing..

  • i have a blue agave i got it as a pup from my friend and it is quite large i keep it in my greenhouse all winter and outside in my front garden all summer in a pot i love it i actually have 6 i have kept all the babies since no one elese seems to want one lol they are very pretty i have another one im not sure of the name of it but it looks like the top of a pine apple and it is quite large also but hasent produced any pups yet

  • @grdndiva2001 , the blue agave sounds wonderful. I know once you have a few there is always plenty more coming your way in form of pups. I have lots of this variety now.. they are just beautiful when they grow large.. thanks for stopping by!

  • whats the cost for a agave plant

  • do you have problems with sun burning when u put them back outside after the winter? my biggest one always gets sunburned when i put it back on my deck in the spring. i try to slowly introduce it back into the sun through shading it but it still seems to happen. i have three different kinds of agave and love them all!

  • @swiperrt , I haven't grown them outside , just inside and in the greenhouse seem to do well, it sounds like it may just not like all that sun.. I have mine in a part sun area and does well so far..

  • I love my Agave desmettiana 'Variegata' also. But it's a killer. Those thorns at each tip are deadly.

  • @youmx5 , yes they are pointy.. some of my points have broken off. but I do love this plant alot.

  • Hi, Diane -- What fun to see one of my favorite agaves featured in your video, and to learn it's growing so well for you indoors. I grow it in my own Zone 9 garden, and love its fountain shape---very ornamental. At maturity, it's about 2 feet in diameter and as high. The only downside to this species is that it blooms out in four or five years. Agaves are monocarpic (bloom once and then die).

  • @DebraLeeBaldwin , Hi Debra, fancy seeing you here..:) did not realize they bloom then die, that is a downside, :( good thing I have many more here. still love them all the same.. I guess maybe I will try and hold off or cut off the blooms, will that work?? really don't care so much I love their look just as they are..

  • Hi Lark, you are so wonderful to comment and watch I really appreciate it.:)

I have not placed them outside but when I grew them in my big greenhouse they grew remarkably well. May be a combination of a few things for pups, but small pups even produce pups.. warmth , cool does not as the ones in the patio are pretty quiet. send me your link for your website I will check it out, thanks for letting me know.. and happy gardening..

  • Hi Diane, I enjoyed this video. You explain things so well. Nice choice of a planter, looks great. Do you summer this agave outside? What promotes baby agave? Pot bound or age of plant? My succulents seem to triple in size when I summer them outside (in Wisconsin). As a gift my son built me a website. If you have time come and join the forum...all about gardening. Smiles, Lark
