I LOVE this song. And I miss goofy music videos like this. Don't get me wrong, some of the mini-movie music videos are great, but sometimes it's fun just to have a goofy, nonsensical video like this one
This 45 got to no. 10 in the US, one of 3 top tens for Breathe all within a year's space. "Say A Little Prayer" was very good but did not fare as well.
Loving the Dr. Martens too! Great tune and thanks for posting it. This album ruled as did Peace of Mind, such a shame these guys didnt get more credit
@Supersweetguy They probably heard them sing live in all probabilities, just remember a article in a music magazine at the time of that year when it was stated in the article they were bloody useless singing live in all fairness they more than likely used auto tune in the studio while producing there song's, but this was the reason why they split.
this song brings back great memories!!!! I used to watch night tracks every weekend when I was a child and breathe was many on a long list of my favorite 80's bands. Always will be.
@haynes1776 I did too...nostalgic! Thats how I knew of a lot of this music. Where I lived we got the hot hits from TV before radio adn radio was sooo limited then. It was govt owned in my country, LOL.
For years I was wondering this song for was!!!! It wasn't bugging me that much, but I'm happy to know now!!!! I just kept mistaking the lyrics for something else, don't you hate when you do that?...
I guess that explains why so many people are griping about MTV not having the videos they were used to seeing growing up. But like I said, I have the option of 5 MTV channels so I watch MTV HITS and it is just like when I was a teenager and just sat there and watched videos all night long:)
@timtaylor97044 MTV HITS is an MTV channel that plays videos 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week!!!! Do you not have 5 MTV channels like we do here in San Antonio?? I see this complaint so often, and simply don't understand why you don't have all the options of multiple MTV channels..
Does anyone remember that VH1 called 'Reunite the bands'? It was a pretty good concept. Now, all they have is stupid reality shows for money and people losing weight or crazy sports wives with bad hair weaves. What does that have to do with music?
How does a music station go from promoting music to that reality junk?
That video is cute. Wonderfully good vocals by David Glasper. Excellent voice. I like the part when Ian sings while David plays the instrument. So cute of them.
@shmuli9 Night Tracks is correct. Didn't have mtv or vh1 from our cable provider back then so I caught most videos on Night Tracks late friday and saturday nights.
@RavenlucJanie Her eyebrows look fine to me. On a similar note, I think that woman who shave the eyebrows off and 'paint them the way they want to' always look SURPRISED... :-)
@RavenlucJanie HAHA, I thought the same thing. Its funny, looking at a lot of 80's videos, I dont think they waxed brows back then. I miss the 80's but not the hair and brows ;)
Wow.....song really brings back the Memories.....Early 1989....Just got married with a Baby on the way......Played this song as a young 28 yr old Disc Jockey on 106.3FM KHAT Radio in Lincoln, Nebraska. David Jr. came out of the oven when this song was in the top-10. Fast Forward to 2010.....The wife is now my EX-wife....and Baby David is now an inch taller than me and now 21 years old.....Can anybody tell me where the last 2 decades went. Wholy Cow!!!!!!
@SkEEzyJ Great to hear from a fellow Lincolnite. Yes, Lincoln Radio was more 'exciting' 20 years ago. The music today is NOT nearly as good as the 80's (or 70's) not even close!!! Lincoln needs a station that would play this type of music. Thanks for responding. Go Huskers!!!!
Brings back GREAT memories with my Ex husband.. I will never forget!!! 21 years later still care for him we just got married to young is all! We great friends!!
being raised in the bible belt under strict religious rule makes me cherish my memories of sneaking to watch Night Tracks after the parents went to bed lol
@DaveWollenberg It peaked at #77 in the UK. "Hands To Heaven" was their only big success in their home country reaching #4. Breathe was a lot more successful in the US. Their first album "All That Jazz" spun off three top 10 singles.
When I was a kid i stayed up late just to listen to Night tracks on TBS and just listen to my favorite 80's groups, including Breathe. Its makes you feel young again. Great song Great Video. Also, damm good looking girl.
@mattmc8391 Night tracks and Friday Night Videos crushed MTV even back when MTV was still some what good. Hey Doc Brown just pulled up in the Delorian you want to come with me?
So how do u know the drummer, Ian "Spike" Spice died from a drug overdose? I heard it was a tragic car accident. I hope it wasn't drugs. He was my favorite. Either way, still a tragic loss. I still love them all.
top notch eighties nostalgia love it ,top band who for some strange reason were bigger in the states than at home ,very sad to hear the drummer in the band passed away in the early 2000s
Man, I had the biggest crush on David Glasper when I was young. I thought he was the best looking guy to ever grace the planet at the time. And I even got a polka dot shirt just like his, because I loved how he looked in it... OMG! Those 80's fashions were so out there! Loved it!!!
What a great band!! Ditto you said it amazing, aahh David. Miss his voice, please sing for us again *on knees begging* - I have no shame when it comes to that voice.
orginally a 5 piece band called Catch 22, Breathe was an amazing band from England. mixing pop, sould with hints of jazz, this quartet (besides being great musicians) had one obvious thing in their favor. the incredible voice of David Glasper.
sadly, drummer Ian Spice died in 2000 and guitarist Mark Lillington is now involved in web design, we can still hope for some future music from this great band.
i thought 80s hairstyles for men were good for a long time but now it looks too big but still better than the degenerate circa 1976 hairstyle of drunkards that made a comback for some in their early 20s now.
gr8 song! when I was in high schoo/l we LIVED for Night Tracks...we didn't have cable(hence, not having MTV) in my podunk town so that's how we got our videos..I'd watch it from midnight until about 5 or 6 a.m. ahhh, memories!
I hear ya. I stayed up recording them to VHS. I've thought about digitizing some clips from my old tapes. I guess it's people like me that keep this stuff alive online.
My God, those clothes from 87. Loved those styles (then again I was in High School then...lol). Boy one note, and you can't help becoming addicted to David Glasper's voice all over again. Simply breathtaking, and I think, one of the best of the past 40 years.

Latest word is that David Glasper (with a G) is living in Thailand and working on new music.
Stay tuned. (with a T)
