Hell is a total seperation from God, a place of wailing and gnashing of teeth. This making of a loving hippy, relaxed Jesus is not the real Jesus! the christian music industry has done a great deal of making christianity look like show entertaintment! without real worship these people will just write corny un-Biblical songs that mean nothing to God! But yes Hell is real where else do the evil wicked people go that dont repent? you tell me its not heaven!
@Freedomcall82 God is God. Jesus is Jesus. God is Jesus. Why do you worry about the existence of something you are not? God is Love. Be love. And everything will take care of itself. Don't worry about who's a sinner or who's saint. Worry about who you are and what you stand for. Are you love?
Hell is all over the old testiment and new testiment scriptures, read Luke 13:3 Jesus said unless a man repents they will surely perish. Hell is real! dont believe the luke warm or cults who say its not real! I have seen it myself! People have had dreams and visions of hell and I am one of them! God is a God of love yes for His chosen people not to the wicked who reject Him! David wept more from being concerned of God sending him to hell but he repented of his adultury!
yes I am tired of people saying Christianity is not a religion, when if you read your bible you would see God used tons of heroic important people to do His will! Perfect example, moses, samson, King David. New testiment examples of men doing the will of God were John the baptist. if you are a christian you better know your bible! it is a relationship with Christ, but you should go to church nevertheless! It is God's house!
@Freedomcall82: well we say its not a religion because thats not how we see it.....God came down to not only believe in Him and HAVE to go to church but to love him and WANT to go to church and be in a relationship with us....just think for a second....of all the other religions and there gods.....did and of their gods come down? just to be with them? and if there are stories there is no proof....
@JAZZMuSiCfReAk you dont need proof for the Bible just read it believe and accept christ into your life. if you dont repent you are in trouble. athiests always look for logic and reason and proof. Christ spoke against the Jews who always looked for signs they were blinded by that. The Bible has all the answers all other religions are works based which means you have to earn your way into heaven the ism's, humanism, Islam, the roman catholic church they all dont believe like we do.
@Freedomcall82 .but our God did and yes there i proof...thats why we say its more then simply a "religion" (which to us is we HAVE to fallow the rules and HAVE to go to church) but a relationship...to have a desire to go to church and to know him more.
@Freedomcall82 so we dont HAVE to go to church ( dont get me wrong i got to 3 different churches and im a worship leader and its good to be im a Godly environment ) but since Jesus want a PERSONAL relationship you should learn to read you bible and discover new revelations on your own in the secret place with God ...just like Lisa sings in the song" ...church was to small..." we need more then just "religion". God bless you though
I feel like this song is my life story. Thank you Lisa and Michael for articulating this so well, and still showing the hope and beauty of Jesus's love through it all. I will try to trust him more.
I spent all my time hearing different versions of ``Beautiful Things`` and ``The earth is yours`` that I almost missed songs like this one! This is a jewel of a song and has just as much meaning to the christian walk than any others! May Jesus be the Light in my life and not stray from the path!
@renetony29 AK's a good band. i love bands esp. the Christian bands that integrate deep, expressive lyrics. i'm not much into the 'happy feel-good songs', but more into songs invoking a sense of depression and sadness. i find a lot of Christian bands are too cliche, even if their purpose is good. The Glorious Unseen's another good band you should check out.
@furrysammy. Hi. I'm sorry you were so confused and mislead through your life. I want you to know that there is a way you CAN know if you're saved or not. It's the book of 1st John. If you'd like to talk more about sound doctrine, I'm open for discussion. Message me and let me know. :)
@chuckzee90 that's true. but i think what @furrysammy was trying to say (and i could be wrong about this, of course) is that in the church where he grew up, even accepting Christ as savior wasn't enough to make a person feel secure of salvation. what needs to be taught is that it's not about what we do, but what is done for us.
@furrysammy ... brother, that's not christianity. You cannot reconcile the teachings of Jesus, particularly his parables, with a universalist perspective. I WANT everyone to be saved, that is true. And I WISH universalism was the way it works, but that's just not true. The entire Bible, start to finish, cannot be reconciled to universalism.
@chuckzee90 uniterianism/universalist beliefs deny hell is real and they deny the trinity. we must warn others about how dangerous this cult is. they believe everyone has self worth which means they do not believe we are sinners. its very wrong and yet they creep up into the American churches pretending to be believers while they are not.
I just want to let everyone know that the Church needs to tell everyone they are already saved! This is the most important thing really. You don't understand what it is like coming from a fire and brimstone church where you are never sure if you are saved or if anyone else is including your family and universalism will send you to hell. This is where most of the problems come from in the Church and in my confusion I was trying to warn everyone because I believed this pure evil hogwash of hell.
@furrysammy Furry, I understand your frustration and I am myself a hopeful christian Universalist :) Bible do address something called universal reconciliation, like 1st john 2, 2 corn 5, etc. But we cannot ignore passages like revelations,Jude, etc that talks about torment and anguish for the devil and his followers.
To all who corrected my ways I am deeply thankful for without you I may have been trapped for a long time. I wrongly deleted that comment out of shame which I regret doing. However I can tell you it was extremely hypocritical, judgmental, angry, hate filled, full of pride and bigotry, and full of condemning people. Don't do these things. I was one of those people John saw, and looking back I am the shameful, and despicable one, and the one that was a fool and full of false ideas and doctrines.
@furrysammy You have just sold out, and now you are thanking your captors.
Do you think the demons inside those people are going be your friends? Do you imagine good and evil have now disappeared and life will be rosy for you? Most of all, what is the significance of whether you are now more comfortable. Who cares whether we are comfortable or not. Going to Hell is worse than discomfort!
@furrysammy Realization of our wrongs is the first step in becoming new in christ. I also was raised in a fire and brimstone church but in my adulthood I found the Vineyard churches and what they have to offer and I've been hooked ever since. Hopefully you have a vineyard or Luke 4 church near you. Visit it, I think you will be pleasantly suprised!
Furthermore forgive me again everyone. I once said on here there is a literal hell. Believe it not! It is a false pagan teaching from the Greeks, and is not Biblical and is not from God. JESUS CHRIST SAVES EVERYONE! Choose to have a relationship with him, one day you will meet him anyways in HEAVEN! God bless, and forgive me!! HELL IS ABUSE FROM THE WOMB TO THE TOMB and the concept drove me to insanity, ignore it and start having a relationship with our mutual Creator of the Universe!
i really like this song because it portrays a beautiful struggle of faith summed up in the fact that we can all use a little humility when it comes to our conversations about god and the practice of our faith. i appreciate songs that can express genuine human experience (like the psalms and many other parts of scripture) while bringing us to a place of rest even in struggle with god.
@furysammy This song isn't about denouncing the Church or discouraging church membership. It's about reminding us that God gave us His only son Jesus to be our Savior- to be a real tangible part of our lives. What are we for if it's not to praise and worship the Lord and our savior Jesus Christ? The song speaks out against fabricated religion and blind tradition. It's calling us Christians to stop playing church, to stop our carnival shows and to start truly loving and living for God.
@furrysammy If you think this song is about universalism and ignoring the supremacy of scripture, you didn't listen to the song at all.

This band is "in the business of doctrinal errors?" Um, no, actually. It's a simple song about trusting God, and not being distracted by failings of the church or individuals.. On one hand, you slam it for not covering the full smorgasbord of theology, while simultaneously reading into the song an astonishing list of things it does not say. Your critique is remarkable, yes. Astute or discerning? No.
when did and how did Lisa change her voice. It is much airier and breathier than it used to be, I love it... I guess I never realized a person could train themselves to do that.

But John couldn’t buy it, He just couldn’t buy it again, Church was to small so he just threw it all up to chaos and chance. And all of the lies, All of the lies. John saw the lies, Oh, he saw the steeples, And saw all the people get it wrong. Jesus sees John, Jesus sees steeples. He sees all His people get it wrong. Trust Jesus, John. Trust Jesus, people. Jesus will come and save us all

and all of the lies but john couldnt buy and he just couldnt buy it again. church was to small so he just threw it all out to chaos and chance and all of the lies.
all of the lies.
john saw the lies, oh he saw all the steeples, saw all the people get it wrong.
Jesus sees John and Jesus sees steeples and sees all his people get it wrong.
but trust jesus john, trust jesus people, for jesus will come and save us all.
I don't listen to christian music at all anymore. I grew up with it and singing it in church choirs. As I got older and experienced LIFE the music seemed superficial and out of touch with reality to me. The messages were generic and didn't arouse any feeling. They didn't make me think. It's hard to explain. Every now and then I find a song that touches me like I think music about Christ should. This is one of those songs.... Great job.
Wow. They neeed to play this kind of music more on the radio. Don't get me wrong, I like a lot of Christian music that does get radio play, but its getting so watered down lyrically. It seems like its more about catchiness these days, even in the Christian music industry. We need more songs that engage the mind on the most pressing questions
man i love this song. the flow and direction is beautiful along with the subtle, intriguing notes she hits. and i love how it's packed with truth. great job.
@SoUnCoOl10 John see all the false Christians in the world, which turned him away from Christianity.. But All He need to focus on is God.. Because God sees ALL The false praise that's coming to Him.. But TRUST Jesus Because HE will save us, including those hypocrites.. JESUS SAVES..lol
lyrics 2nd half But John couldn’t fight it and he just couldn’t buy it again Church was too small so he just threw it all out to chaos and chance All of the lies x2 John saw the lies he saw the steeples and saw all the people get it wrong Jesus sees John Jesus sees steeples He sees all His people get it wrong Trust Jesus John Trust Jesus people Jesus will come and save us all
i cant agree that its a great song (although i know it is) because i dont understand what she says period. all i've been able to understand is "trust Jesus John, trust jesus people' n thats it! please some1 post up lyrics :(
@LJESUSILY4RMK I tried looking up the lyrics myself, but none are posted on the internet so far... look for the version by Mali Music, he sings it slower so you'll probably be able to understand it a bit. I tried to post it on here, but it won't let me... This is an amazing song! God bless the Gungors!
This is so beautiful

Lyrics
John he was raised with a steeple over his head,
Lived in the suburbs and memorized scriptures at night before bed.
And he won a prize.
Preachers and teachers would tell him where all sinners go,
Prayed for revival but showed him a fancy carnival show.

Why's it a lie?
Why's it a lie?
John saw the lies,
And he saw the steeple,
He saw all the people get it wrong.
Went off to college and came home with knowledge to spare,
Of crusades and slave trades,
And all of the blood that was spilled in God’s name.
And all of the lies.

lived in the suburbs and memorized scripture at night before bed and he won a prize, preachers and teachers would tell him where all sinners go
prayed for revival but showed him a fancied lit carnival show
why is it a lie 2x
John saw the lies and he saw the steeples and saw all the people get it wrong.
when up to college and came home with knowledge to spare of crusades and slave trades all of the blood that was spilled in Gods name

and all of the lies but john couldnt buy and he just couldnt buy it again. church was to small so he just threw it all out to chaos and chance and all of the lies.
all of the lies.
john saw the lies, oh he saw all the steeples, saw all the people get it wrong.
Jesus sees John and Jesus sees steeples and sees all his people get it wrong.
but trust jesus john, trust jesus people, for jesus will come and save us all.

I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dstev85 11 months ago

There's one word I could not make out: But here's the lyrics in three parts:
Johnny was raised with a steeple over his head
Lived in the suburbs and memorized scripture at night before bed and he won a prize
Preachers and teachers would tell him where all sinners go
Prayed for revival but showed him by ? carnival show
Why’s it a lie? x2

i cant agree that its a great song (although i know it is) because i dont understand what she says period. all i've been able to understand is "trust Jesus John, trust jesus people' n thats it! please some1 post up lyrics :(
LJESUSILY4RMK 1 year ago
@LJESUSILY4RMK I tried looking up the lyrics myself, but none are posted on the internet so far... look for the version by Mali Music, he sings it slower so you'll probably be able to understand it a bit. I tried to post it on here, but it won't let me... This is an amazing song! God bless the Gungors!

There seriously needs to be more music like this. Story songs. All nice and calm. Forget loud drums. We need to mellow.
