I'd really love to see NCsoft give up the intellectual rights of it to Garriott and see what he does with it. A master game designer put onto too tight a leash by the bean counters wanting max profit and this is what yuo get. There were plenty of devs and remain plenty of devs who would DONATE their time to get back onto a project like this.... Gods just look at the number of talented devs working in the private server community of wow alone, for FREE. Give up the rights NCSOFT!!!
Ya, NCsoft seemed to keep wanting to have it be a WoW killer. It wasn't and never shoulda ever been seen that way. For those who played and enjoyed it, was a blast. coulda been repurposed for hardcore fans and woulda gradually gotten more and more popular over time, as more and more ppl got bored w wow. Its timing in the whole "WoW mmo arc" was bad 4 what tey were expecting from it, out of the gate wise, but with the right marketing coulda been a stable and growing player base for years to come.
I loved this game. I played it through beta and although I took a break, I played the final 8 months (most of its life haha). It is such a shame. The game really continued to mature. It needed a smart PR department to show off how much it had improved and all it had to offer. The MMO genre has a big gaping hole where this game was. I was so disappointed when they announced the close... and this Aion game we got for our severance plan is common trash.
THE ONLY MOTHER FUCKIN MMO LIKE THAT N IT GOES DOWN.. i had to work that nite, I hate seein a good game go down, always use to say to my friend "Wanna save the world" meanin wanna play TR but now its like Uhmm wat u wanna do, goin to miss it
I agree. This game had SO much potential but SO much money was wasted in the first 3 years of development before the original TR was scrapped. By the time THIS version was released, they had spent 2/3 of the budget and the game was released with too little content. This game brought in some new ideas, the choice between trigger itch combat (FPS) and target+Action Bar (Like WoW). Just one thing that was great, so much potential.
Never even heard of this game. Looks great, I woulda played, just never heard of it though.
